    I take note of the reviews in Guitarist magazine in UK and value the reviewers comments and as such, bought both a Cornford Roadhouse and this Fender, based on what was said (not at same time!!). Yes this is all classic Fender tone and glad it is as I really wanted a clean Blackface tone and the Vibrolux is one I really like. In fact am loving the Vibrolux channel and with my Cool Cat Vibe, I get some wonderful 60's classic sounds. that just echo out from the large spacious cab.I wasn't after Metal-burn!, but the Burn channel offers up an array of classic rock tones that have you going from all out Stones to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kossoff to Kiss...Oh and to avoid confusion - The Bassman channel is based on a '66 NOT A TWEED! Perhaps for some, the V30 speaker is a shade dark for some Fender country-clean fans, but I have an Eminence Cannabis Rex I may try in an external cab and see how that works out. Oh and contrary to what is said of many big Fenders, you can dial-in bedroom level tones here quite easily. I got a super(sonic!) deal on mine and there is something gratifying in knowing should you ever get to play a big stage - this 10 tube powerhouse will be just the ticket! This is a beauty of an amp and sad it is being revamped down into a piddly 22 watt shadow. This amp deserves more recognition and respect...Owned mine from new for 1 year. Ungigged.

    I have used and gigged with many amps over my 25+ years of playing... And I've finally found the amp I can settle on to define my own personal tone. This amplifier (on all channels) is very open, transparent and responsive. It hides nothing, and will make you a better musician because you can actually hear and "feel" everything you play through it. There is no "mush" to hide behind. This amp also gives you tons of sustain. I was used to adding deiberate amounts of delay and echo to my sounds to "liven up" my tone, but with this amp all I need to do is set the 'verb around 3... wow! It has let me simpilfy my live steup down to just 4 essential pedals and now I can concentrate on playing and expressing myself through the guitar instead of "tapdancing."
    There is a huge tonal shift between the vibroluxe and bassman settings on the clean side of the amp. I have found that I need to set the eq in a position that is a good compromise for both channels (otherwise the bassman channel will get way boomy). Then with those two channels I just let the amp speak for itself. It lets me know which one to use for a certain song... Vibroluxe does best for funk songs, while the bassman does great for chording and slower rhythms.
    The burn channel is fantastic! I've never heard a great distortion sound out of a Fender amp without a boost or overdrive pedal in front of it (except maybe a Hot Rod DeVille) but this amp really shines! With the dual gain stages and post-eq you can really shape your tone to fit your personality and playing style. I think the people who say negatave things about the burn channel on this amp need to just spend more time with it. I've also read many reviews that complain about the lack of bass response, and Fender even changed the amp a few years ago adding a bassier tone circuit (Super Sonic 60). However, I don't see how that was necessary. This amp has plenty of low end, and I honestly don't think I need any more. I play in a 3 piece band, and this amp compliments the bass nicely. More low end would just make the overall sound muddy.

    Overall, this amp is just a dream realized, and I won't be parting with it. Every time I play through it I hear something new. It's like a breath of fresh air.
    Excellent cleans (2 voicings that are footswitchable!!!) and the best distorted tone I've ever heard out of a Fender Amp that didn't require a stompbox.

    Two effects loops, one that is footswitchable with gain controls.

    Solid build quality, made in USA(!), comes with footswitch, and has built-in tiltback arms.
    Beautiful piece of American art... I have the cream/oxblood one. Built to withstand years of schlepping it around from gig to gig, this amp will probably outlive me. I plan on using it forever.
    Totally worth every penny... I traded a Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe on Craigslist for mine.

    Best Amp I've Ever Used

    I have used and gigged with many amps over my 25+ years of playing... And I've finally found the amp I can settle on to define my own personal tone.     Could (and Can) Be Better

    Well, all things considered, I'm pretty happy with it now, but remember, I had to make some changes. If it's really Fender vintage tones that matter to you, whereas the "Burn" channel means relatively little (or nothing at all), I'd recommend a different Fender amp.
    Sounds great on paper: Blackface Vibrolux and Bassman settings, plus a genuine overdrive / distortion channel. The reverb works well enough.

    This is Fender's stated attempt to have both classic and modern sounds and features into one professional amp.

    I bought the combo, in case someone hasn't noticed that that's what this page all about.
    I wanted to like this amp so much, but it has only one speaker, and it's a Vintage 30, which to my mind is not appropriate for an amplifier that claims it wants to give you vintage Fender sounds. Furthermore, the Vibrolux setting sounds remarkably thin, spikey and harsh, whereas the Bassman setting sounds too dull and dark. But all was not lost: I ordered a Weber Chicago 12 alnico speaker and had my guitar technician install it, along with Winged C tubes. I also had the thing rebiased (I bought it used). It still didn't sound all that good, but then I remembered that Weber says this speaker needs a lot of break-in time, so after turning the volume all the way up and giving the amp about a 45 minute workout, it now sounds about as good as a 1-speaker amp could be expected to sound. I suppose Fender is expecting people to buy one of their 2X12 extension cabinets to fill out the sound more. I'm sure that would sound nice, but at this point I'm not interested in paying for one of those, plus more for 2 more Weber Chicago 12's. Nonetheless, at least it already sounds far better than when I first got it.
    I would hope to have 2 12" (or 4 10") speakers for this price. Plus, I had to spend a considerable amount of additional money in order to get this to sound the way I like. I suppose one could make the case that the Celestion Vintage 30 is for the Burn (distortion) channel, but the Weber Chicago 12 even works a little better in that channel, so I'm glad I changed that speaker. But unless the stock specs are what the buyer really wants, I have to knock it down in the value rating for the above reason. In fact, if you intend to change the speaker, why not get a used SuperSonic?

    What can one add ?

    Browsing the Fender Website I first saw the Supersonic 112 and was impressed. Then to get some unbiased information I started reading the reviews, next step... try it out. WOW! played it for about 2 hours in the store. Went back home and read more reviews. discussed the purchase with my wife "but you already have amplifiers." I convinced her that I NEEDED this amp. ordered it, and upon delivery was immediately impressed. My wife, upon hearing it for the first time said asked why my "other Fender didn't sound as clean" 'nuff said? this amp was a great purchase without regrets. While I have never played a 65 Vibrolux or a 66 Bassman, or be able to pick one out in a recording i can say i love how the Vibrolux sparkles, and the Bassman setting is my favorite - so... clean and wholesome ! Mrs. Cleaver would be impressed. still playing around with the Burn channel, after 2 months. I'm looking for that "right" sound... it's tough as i have found about 6 different Burn settings that i like. this amp can do everything. this was not a purchase, but an investment; it makes me want to be a better player !

    Awe-Inspiring Versatility

    This amplifier is about as close as one is going to get to finding the proverbial "Do-it-all" amp. The two clean channels are amazing reproductions of the amp circuits they are modeled after (Vintage mid-60's Vibrolux and Bassman), and serve extremely well for styles of music requiring that classic clean tube amp sound (I.e. Country and Jazz). Throw in a splash of reverb to the Vibrolux channel, and indulge yourself in classic surf tones found on songs like Dick Dale's "Misirlou" or The Surfaris' "Wipeout". The burn channel allows the blending of two separate gains, opening a door of infinite tonal possibility. Everything from a little bit of crunch to Zeppelin-esque tones reminiscent of a Marshall, fat tones a la Stevie Ray Vaughan, and even higher gain sounds are a breeze to dial in. Overall, this amplifier has surprised me with its versatility to the point that it has become my favorite gigging and recording amplifier. Built like a tank, too. Kudos to Fender for a wonderful piece of equipment!

    My FAVORITE Amp!!

    This thing is unbelievably versatile. I can't believe it is on clearance. Scoop one up while you can. I have this in blond as well as the 212 cabinet (sounds especially good this way but you'd better be in a really big venue or outdoors). Nothing bad to say except that mine (like many others) had a noise issue and just wouldn't play clean. Turned out it needed re-wiring on the power tubes and like magic, everything is great. Easy free fix if you are having similar issues. Very responsive and wonderful sounding amp that can handle ANY style of music, and I really mean anything!

    Wow

    I bought this amp and took it to a live outdoor gig. I played next to a guy playing an "evil twin" reverb. The tone of the bassman side out did his sound and the burn channel was like a Marshall with my Les Paul classic through it. It held up in direct hot sun too. People were complementing my tone to no end. The bottom lows come out good when cranked. I played it through a 212 Fender cabinet and boy did this sound even better. I have no problem with the vib channel being lower in volume than the bassman because it gives me 3 volumes to work with. Better buy this before they are gone and the price goes up to get one.

    Blows me away!

    First off, like others have said, there is no way to write a good reveiw for this amp unless you own it, and play it regularly. Secondly, there is no perfect "do everything amplifier". Period!That being said, this Super Sonic is as close as your going to get! Tone, power, clarity and versitility are paramount with this amp. Keep in mind that your tone is going to be determined by what type of guitar you play, what type of pickups you have, and what type of effects you use. Also, because this amp is 60watts, there is no way to get "on the tubes" unless you use an attenuator. It sounds fantastic at lower volumes, probably the best I've heard in my 35 years of playing, but to get that really good right on the edge snarl, you have to drive the tubes. I use a THD Hot Plate, this allows you to turn the volume of the amp up to 4,5, 6.. what ever and adjust the output for normal volumes. No way around it, you have to have this. Normally I set the amp on 4 or 5 and the Hot Plate on -8db. Anything above that starts to sound muddy. (-12db)Next, the type of pedals you have in front make a huge difference. I've never been an advocate of FX loops, so I jump that to get an extra kick if I need it. I use a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 for distortion, a Fulltone ChoralFlange for chorus, and an MXR Carbon Copy for delay. You simpy can't beat it. The Fulldrive sounds very good in front of this amp on any setting. As for the reverb problems mentioned in some reviews, I haven't had any problems with it. However, I rarely turn it above 1 or 2. Bottom line, if you have the money, buy it! You won't be disappointed! But, buy quality pedals to use with it.

    Great amp

    Been playing for 40 years. I've had this amp for 3 months and love it. Road Worn Tele and Ric 12 sound terrific through both channels. I anticipated this amp would be versatile and it sure is. The variety of sound possibilities -- from the various channels -- makes this ideal for me. For rock, funk, R&B, etc., I can't think of another amp that will cover so many genres. It's not perfect (see other reviews), but it covers lots of ground and gives pure Fender tones. I couldn't be happier with this amp selection.

    Top quality Fender amp

    I'm running a mahogany strat deluxe and an ES-137 Custom through this. The Bassman circuit is thick as a brick while retaining plenty of sparkle - kicks butt for blues, rock, country. The Vibrolux side is squeaky clean and sounds raw until you get it on stage where it shines on clean funk rhythm chops or Tele lines. Both circuits have the nicest hint of compression and breakup past 2.5 on gain (which is loud). I've heard complaints the bassman/vibro volumes aren't balanced but that works for me - the vibro cuts where the bassman punches. The burn channel really burns - I don't carry a pedal for full saturation any more. Only thing I don't use this amp for is solo jazz - it's very focussed, but doesn't have a real deep low end.
