This is the best stand alone Fender amp I own. I have a Twin Reveb RI, a Deluxe Reverb RI, a Blackface Bandmaster and a Super Reverb. This amp is as good as all of them combined and more. I run mine through an Avatar 212 Cabinet with a G12H30 and a Vintage 30 Celestion and it sounds sweet. With my settings, the cleans have just a touch of bite and the Burn channel I run pretty mild compared to some guys, but any of my Les Pauls just sound fantastic. I can adjust the guitar's volume control to access touch sensitive harmonics and need no Distortion Pedal. This is the first amp I have owned that truly gives me all the tones I need for playing rock, contemporary country, and blues without having a whole raft of pedals. Setup is quicker, less complex and less prone to signal path failures. My pedalboard has a tuner, wireless receiver and a delay pedal, that's all. The amp footswtich sits next to pedalboard. Only one cable from the pedalboard to the amp. This setup works very well for me and this amp does all I ask it to. 60 watts is plenty of power most venues, and for large shows I usually mic the amp. If you need a versatile amp, with tons of tonal diversity, buy this amp.

I have always been a Fender amp guy - different models over the years - their industry setting designs from their earliest days and their 60's sounds have never been surpassed by any maker since, as far as I'm concerned. However, I had hedged at the "new" Fender's. Sure the Vibroking and the point-to-point custom shops are likely very good - but I could never bring myself to those price points - not to mention the weight of those units. Plus, the price of a vintage Fender is generally quite reasonable compared to the sticker-shock custom shop items. Plus, the reissues area reliable and get you classic sounds with brand new parts outta the box so are always good options.

So why did I buy a modern Fender Supersonic 60? Simple - amazing sound, simple features, great variety. It gives multiple HIGH QUALITY Fender sounds from one amp - each of which I would consider worthy of an amp purchase on its own. The Vibrolux setting and Bassman setting compare favorably to the Vibroverb, Bassman and Deluxe Reverb in my collection (but possibly even better!). I don't know exactly what they did on the newest redesign (Fender says they tightened the bass response - and yes the low end is crisp and tight, but it also keeps warm mid's, kind of like the tweed Bassman) but it sounds fantastic.

I chose it for practical reasons, as well, and it fit the bill. I needed some more power than the 20 watt deluxe, or 35 to 40 watt Vibroverb or Tremolux. Those classics have great natural breakup - but often times it happens at too low a volume. So to upgrade - a 100 watts choice is overkill these days - 60 is perfect.

It can also simplify the pedalboard. It truly doesn't need anything added, bring a tuner (and I add a delay) and it is good to go. For overdrive and distortion, the burn channel is perfect - not only can you find just the right blend, but it doesn't kill your guitar to amp chain. If you have a pro guitar and a pro amp, adding an extra OD pedal can sometimes be like putting on cheap perfume or cologne - it can spoil a good thing. On the supersonic you dial in a quality natural sound first and then fuzz it up as needed - but again, without killing the guitar and amp interplay itself...

Anyway, I am very impressed with what Fender has done here - they have met the needs of the discerning player - great sounds, great flexibility, the right features, mid-range power and fairly portable. I don't know why this has kinda flown under the radar, but I wanted to recognize Fender for making such a terrific modern product that perfectly meets my professional needs. Keep up the good work... The Deville has a better sound, you know you want 4 10s. My dad has this Super Sonic, I have a deville, the Deville is $950. To be fair, I haven't heard this amp plugged into an extension cabinet.

This amp is really loud! Another example of an amp that can't really work the tubes because you can't turn it up loud enough (I played an outdorr gig this weekend and never got the volume above 3 and we DID NOT mic the guitar amps)
I am looking to replace this amp with a hot rod deluxe.
I have owned this amp for about 6 months. I have practiced with it and gigged with it a few times. The drive channel has a very mean sounding distortion.

The clean channel has a volume, bass and treble control. It has a bassman type sound and some other cheesy weak treble sounding channel. With only one volume control you can't use them both because the bassman sound is very loud compared to the treble sound. It has a lot of mids coming from the clean channel but no mid EQ control to make adjustments. It is only clean when you turn the clean channel up loud and operate your pickups below 6. It breaks up very early.
The distortion channel can only be set to one gain setting so you don't have a lot of flexibility there. The amp is very loud.
The amp is made well but very heavy for a single 12" amp. My friends 212 Cyber Twin is a lot lighter (I now wish I would have bought a used Cyber Twin). Mine has a really bad hiss in the drive channel with or without a guitar connected.
So far this am has performed well and worked everytime I turn it on. It really begins to sound better after it has beenon for an hour or two. I think it is worth about a little less than they charge. (just my opinion)

I bought two of these for live and studio use. They are great sounding amps, reasonably true to their emulated name sakes.The Vibrolux mode is very bright, just like the original. It's loudness level is much lower than the other modes (see another review for the attenuator trick).Reliability: one arrived and blew its fuse twice (sound: woooooo pop!). Bad power tubes. Replaced on warranty. So -1 on quality. Amps should work out of the box, and be able to stand reasonable shipment rigors.Also, the reverb feeds back at high settings (medium high pitched squeal) regardless of the amp volume settings. The reverb tank is not properly isolated, but that's a standard new fender (as opposed to early 60's Fender) problem. The tank needs to be floated for better isolation from the cabinet. We'll see what the amp tech (Val King) does.Features: The amp seriously needs two things: 1. power scaling (it is WAY LOUD) for smaller venues, but letting you have power section oomph; 2. and a "silent recording" mode, like the Marshall JVM series. Essentially it needs two standby modes: the regular Fender standby, and a "recording" standby that makes the preamp section active up to the "line out" jack, but turns off (or just keeps in regular standby mode) the power section. Saves your power tubes if you run it that way.#2 is more important than #1 since you can use the effect loop to accomplish some of the reduction in amp loudness.It also needs a better footswitch technology. The voltage based one it has doesn't work with any relay based effect pedal switching modes (like the one on the TC G-System). Again, MIDI channel switching is best, again, like the Marshall JVM.So, -.5 on features - you can live without my suggestions, but it would be better with them.Value: It's USA made and the price is good. If it had any of my suggestions, it would get a 5. The price to implement #2 is about $150 at Val Kings in Los Gatos, by the way.

I really love this amp. I am a long time Fender guy but I wanted something more. This amp has the clean channel plus a boost on that channel. Then it adds a great burn channel. On top of that you get a four button switch and a great look.

This amp can do it all. The Vibrolux channel provides you with that famous pristine Fender Clean tone that works great with delays, choruses, and other time based effects. The Bassman channel gives you the gritty blues tone every blues/rock guitarist searches for. The burn channel can do everything from a tiny bit to full on metal sounds. The sustain lasts longer than a line at the apple store when a new gadget is released. The best part is the foot switchable attenuator function. Simply plug in a standard quarter inch instrument cable into the send and return on the back of the amp and you are ready to start controlling the overall output of the amp. Think of it as another "master" volume. I use it as a boost by setting the send and return just past high noon on the back of the amp. Also, when I gig in very small rooms (coffee shops, bistros) I attenuate the amp at full capacity so I can get the tone i want without making people's ears bleed. Because, the super sonic is LOUD!!!!!!
