Fender

Unmistakable Fender cleans and modern high-gain tones in one no-nonsense combo.

Fender's Super-Sonic Twin tube combo amp is designed for guitarists who want the inimitable sound of Fender clean tones plus expressive high-gain sounds in an all-tube, 100W, 2x12 combo.

The Super-Sonic Twin combo has a classic two-channel preamp with Vintage and Burn channels. The Vintage channel delivers tones based on legendary Fender favorites, with pre-gain tone controls and switchable voices for shimmering clean tones derived from vintage Fender Twin Reverb® and Showman® amps, and fat, punchy tone reminiscent of 1960s Bassman® amps. The Pre and Master Volume controls can be set for pure clean or slightly overdriven tones.

The Burn channel ignites musical inspiration with overdrive flavors from bluesy to flame-throwing. Experiment with post-gain EQ and two-stage cascading preamp controls. Gain 1 provides edgy breakup and distortion while Gain 2 adds compression, thickness, and sustain. The Notch Tune feature lets you move the midrange notch for a variety of American and British flavors. The Super-Sonic Twin combo is capable of modern high-gain overdrive and sustain, but these characteristics can be fine tuned without masking the tonal character of your guitar.

The Super-Sonic Twin combo also contains impressive extras like the Arena/Club switch, which provides 25W output (or, remove two of the power tubes for 50W/12W operation). The Damping control on the rear panel lets you select Normal, Loose, or Tight speaker response. And the all-new Fender Automatic Bias control (patent-pending) lets you easily set your output tubes to the recommended factory setting without a meter or tools. The bias can be set hotter or cooler if desired, and almost any mix of 6L6 power tubes will work.

The Super-Sonic Twin combo includes a cover and a 4-button, pedalboard-friendly footswitch.

Comments about Fender Super-Sonic Twin 100W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is by far the best amplifier FMIC has ever made. It is the best of Vintage Fender Clean Loud matched with the best of today's high gain amplification. If I could only have one amp, this would be the one.

This amp sounds incredibly good. The way it articulates each guitars pickup is amazing. It brings out the unique personality of each instrument and instrument electronics. It is very versatile. I am able to play with clean and high gain sounds from bedroom volume levels to being louder than the police knocking at the door.

I have a blond one. She is beautiful from the top of its handle and faux brushed aluminum logo faceplate to the bottom tolex. The faux brushed aluminum logo faceplate is so striking it could be attached to a chain and worn as band bling. Fit and finish is excellent. The only negative I would give is the rear cross supports should be the same thickness wood as the cabinets.

I think it would be better to have labeled the vintage clean channel button and foot switch Twin/Bassman rather than Vintage/Fat. Why call them something other than what they are?

I love using a jumper on the FX send / receive loop providing a lead boost. Amount of boost is user definable by adjustment of the send receive knobs. I use a Boss ME-70 for my FX pedal board as a stomp box. The amp handles pedals very well.

Auto biasing. Use any 6L6 tube the amp will auto bias to the tubes installed.

The Celestion Vintage 30 speakers sound absolutely fantastic new and I understand they only get better the more you play them. This and the 60 watt 1x12 are the only SS combo models to come with these speakers. While the amp has a damping feature, set to normal or loose sounded best to me.

A very good hour long in depth video explanation and preview of each knob and switch on this amplifier can be found on You Tube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKHyXgdHJr4.

Crank it, play it loud, show it off to the responding officers, they will like it too.

Comments about Fender Super-Sonic Twin 100W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I've had this amp for several months months now and I must say I am very pleased with my purchase.

The amp has plenty of tonal options and works well with an effects pedal board. I have never had the need to use all 100 Watts as the amp is incredibly loud even on the 25 Watt setting.

The reverb, however, tends to feed back/hum when I have any kind of overdrive on and I am not playing. it's very subtle, but definitely un-needed stage noise.

The amp is also very heavy, and in a road case weighs well over 100 lbs...I always need another person to help me lift it into the truck.

Overall a great amp by itself or with effects!

Comments about Fender Super-Sonic Twin 100W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Been playing for a long time. It's my second Fender tube and its also the best. The range of tone and control is incredible. Unlike the modeling amps this one does it all with simplicity. Recommended. One issue was the condition of the box shipped by UPS. They held it for a day for customs and beat the heck out of the box. But it's well packaged by Fender so no apparent harm as yet.

Comments about Fender Super-Sonic Twin 100W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

After playing a bunch of Supersonic 22s in the store, I was certain this Twin would sound just as good, but with more oomph. Boy, was I disappointed. I was never happy with the tone from this amp. For example, the clean channel (on 65 twin setting) had LOTS of low end, almost too much bottom end; however, the BURN side didn't seem to have enough. Also, this amp is LOUD. TOO LOUD in fact. With the BURN channel on 2, it was unbelievably loud (even on the 25 watt club setting). The damping feature was nice, but I found the normal setting was best. The LOOSE and TIGHT settings sounded weird to me. Now- I've heard lots of people complain about how HEAVY this amp is, and granted, 83 lbs. is a lot, but the amp does come with casters and it's really not THAT heavy.. I carried it up a flight of stairs with no problem. Maybe the problem lies in the fact that the amp has Vintage 30 speakers (because the SS 22 has a Jensen Lightning Bolt speaker and that amp sounds SWEEETT). In any event, I did not feel like this 'Twin' did justice to its name. It should not be called a 'Twin' because it doesn't really sound like a Fender (IMO).

Comments about Fender Super-Sonic Twin 100W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp will give you just about any amp sound you want.
No FX and other type of bells, just a clean amp with reverb and all the tube distortion you want.

The notch filter, I don't like. Poorly designed and unremovable, too bad. I'm gonna have my tech take it out. (My opinion, that's why I gave it a 4)

The choice of speakers are excelent because of their wide range, warmth and efficiency. With an extra cabinet its pure thunder in your guts.

It can be a warm or a harsh amp. In other words anything.

I wish they could have made it 10/100Watts instead.
      It is VERY loud.
