I gig on a steady basis and play a Martin DCX1RE. I was looking for a fatter sound in live applications and the Aura has done the job in an amazing way. Plugging straight into the unit and using the 1st factory preset blew me away. I've since messed around with it and have edited some of the presets and have really gotten closer to the tone I've been looking for for years. I run the Aura before my effects and now have a great and easy way to create the nice fat and warm tone I need. This unit kicks ass and if you're an acoustic guitar player looking for deeper, richer and warmer tones do not hesitate in picking up this great little unit. It's easy as heck to use and will get you the sound you'r elooking for.
This is - without question - the single greatest addition to my equipment arsenal in 20 years as a gigging musician. I play many resorts and high end venues and the Aura has truly captured the real sound of my classical and steel string guitars. Unmathced value, unmathced innovation, ease of use and programability! For any serious acoustic guiatrist, it is a MUST HAVE!
I've had this unit for a little less than a year. It is the single most important piece of gear that I've added to my acoustic setup. It is not difficult to set up but you have to match the settings to your guitar type. Once you do this... it's heaven. The warmth and intimacy of your instrument is heard and felt. It's somewhat subtle but amazing. The built in compressor, tuner and feedback eliminator have been added bonuses that provide more than adequate functionality. If you're serious about your acoustic sound, then this is a must have item.
I've used just about everything that you can imagine; barcus berry, Art, sansamp, mic preamps, Rane AP13, combinations of preamps and internal mics and external ones, acoustic amps, etc. I've used this for several months and I'm no longer searching for the perfect acoustic rig. If there's anything better, it can't be much better than this.
I got one (much cheaper than the price here btw..) the sound is amazing. Although I have to be honest that it can't replace a great set of condenser (the sound is so more solid and transparent with a good set of condenser mic), it is still going to change your live music forever! once you hear one of this thing with the right setting, you won't want to go back to listen to the pick-up sound again.
I love this preamp! Like others have said, this is the most important piece of gear in my rig. In fact, I bought two. I used to use the Yamaha AG Stomp, but the Aura is far superior. Nylon and steel string guitars sound real! No more nasty piezo quack ever!
