Fulltone's 70-BC returns in an OCD-sized enclosure!

Thanks to a recent find of a couple thousand excellent BC108C transistors, Fulltone is happy to announce the return of the 70 Fuzz pedal, this time in a small (OCD-sized) housing. These transistors sound outrageous, and the resulting 70-BC Fuzz pedal still has the secret-weapon "Mid" knob which will allow you to do something other Fuzzfaces won't let you do—be heard in the mix!

Ever played that legendary original fuzz from around 1970? If so, you know it's not the same sound as ones with the same namesake being mass-produced currently. The Fulltone 70-BC has two intentionally mismatched (for harmonic content) silicon transistors that snarl and spit—not for the meek! If you put the "Fuzz" on 10 you will rip, and you might get all sorts of oscillation and weirdness, but that's what rock is about, right? Don't try using it with a wah wah—you can't, and neither could Jimi, without it screaming and howling. You want polite and quiet? Sorry, you'll have to go elsewhere. You want art in a box? Come on in!

Housed in a 16-gauge steel box and powdercoated Deep Blue, the 70-BC pedal is a bit unruly but with some warmth, ideal for older, four-input Marshall amps, it has much more fuzz than the '69 Pedal and includes a Mid control for extra clarity and cut.

Specifications subject to change at any given moment due to parts availability and due to whimsy.

Features

  • Reissue of the Fulltone 70 fuzz in a smaller (OCD-sized) housing
  • Mid knob provides extra clarity and cut
  • 16-gauge steel enclosure
  • Ideal for older 4-input Marshall amps

Outrageous fuzz with a vintage pedigree. Get yours now!

Good but not great

Pros

  • Decent Pedal

Cons

  • Did Not Sound That Great

Best Uses

Comments about Fulltone 70-BC Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a decent fuzz pedal that is better than some of the other offerings. I have a bunch of fuzz pedals and this one is good but not great.

It will get you reasonably close on a lot of tones. It does not quite have nearly the tone and certainly not the feel of a couple of my other boutique fuzzes that simply are much better.

That said, for a mass produced pedal it is one of the better ones among it's comptetitors.

I have a fulltone OCD and I really like it a lot. I did not care for the mini dejavibe or this pedal. They were not horrible just nothing special. Fulltone does build a quality product that will last and some people really like them. To me it depends on what else you have played to compare it to.

Comments about Fulltone 70-BC Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

This peadl is awesome . First it looks great , is compact and sounds amazing .It solved all the problems or love /hate with my traditional big ol' smiley fuzzes .I have always hated the reverse jacks , battery only and size of them . Currently been using a Dunlop JB model . The biggest bonus is the mids knob!Use the mid knobbie with your guitar volume for hours of entertainment. You can get Eric J. and Jimi tones all day and even reach BIG PI territory to get your White Stripes on .All around great , get it you won't regret it!

      Better than a Fuzz Face?

Comments about Fulltone 70-BC Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

Much like the previous reviewer, I was torn between the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face and the Fulltone 70's pedal. After much thought, I took the plunge and got the 70's pedal. I am so glad I did! It has all of the great qualities of the Fuzz Face, but with the Mid knob, so you can dial yourself into the mix and be heard. I used it in front of both a Fender tube amp, and a copy of a Marshall Plexi with outstanding results. If you want classic fuzz tones it's there. Play with the Fuzz knob, and you can get Eric Johnson's tone all day long. Work your volume knob, and get a great OD/Distortion tone. The pedal is built like a tank, and I am still using the battery it came with!

      Great Silicon Fuzz

      By Ian Riley

      from Denver

Comments about Fulltone 70-BC Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a fantastic silicon fuzz. If you are in the market for one, then you know what to expect. I was torn between this and the Jimi Hendrix fuzz face, but this one won me over. The mids knob is incredible. It really brings the fuzz out in a mix. I usually run the volume at 1 o'clock, the mids around 10 or 11 o'clock and the fuzz maxed. It cleans up pretty well (not as good as the '69), and you can get a nice crunchy overdrive. With the fuzz turned down to around 3 o'clock or so, you can get much cleaner tones and it doesn't get muddy with the fuzz down like other fuzz faces. The ac adapter option is nice, but I never use anything but really cheap batteries. And of course, you can't beat the size of the stompbox. If you want a heavy fuzz capable of great lead tones, this is one to get!
