Give your instrument a 35db of non-distorted gain.

The Fulltone FatBoost 3 effects pedal replaces previous versions 1 and 2, marrying everything that people liked about both versions while improving on them in a few key areas:

•The FB-3 brings back the v1 11-position Gain control to give the ultimate in control over the FETs
•The FB-3 adds one more stage of FET so that the pedal does not invert your signal
•The FB-3 cures v1's huge bass increase and dull high-end issues, but allows those sounds as well should you so desire

The Fulltone FatBoost 3 is a discrete, Class-A, FET (Field-Effect-Transistor) guitar pedal offering up to 35dB of non-distorted gain without changing your signature sound, unless you want that. You can fatten/distort your tone, brighten or mellow up the sound, add or subtract bass, and even add harmonics. The FB-3 has true-bypass switching (via the Fulltone 3PDT) and incorporates a super-bright LED without the loud popping sound thanks to Fulltone's proprietary anti-pop circuitry.

FET's can behave like tubes in a properly designed circuit. They can clip (distort) in a pleasing way instead of being buzzy or spiky-sounding (like a transistor) and can also add a subtle limiting to the signal which can even out the volume making your live and recorded tones more pleasing to the ear. If you're a recording engineer, you'll be happy to know you can use the Fulltone FatBoost 3 on everything from acoustic and electric guitar to electric bass, and even snare drums.

The FatBoost 3 pedal works great in front of non-Master Volume tube amps to goose them into submission, as well as through Master Volume amps to drive them much harder than possible with just your guitar alone. It also works very well on bass, acoustic guitars (with pickups), and is ideal at the end of a pedalboard effects chain to completely eliminate the tone loss caused by long guitar cable runs back to your amp. Doing so will allow the use of 50' (or longer) cable lengths with no signal degradation whatsoever.

This version of the Fulltone FatBoost (FB-3) incorporates all of the things that people have loved about previous versions of these effects pedals in the past without any of the shortcomings. It brings back the 11-step FET Bias Drive knob that was missing from the FB-2. You'll notice that this knob makes a slight scraping noise when you turn it. Fear not, as that is totally normal, and is simply the sound of the Bias changing and settling on the FET MuAmp. The FatBoost 3 gives you the feeling that your amp is cranked at living room volumes so your playing is more dynamic and notes hold on longer without being distorted. It makes up for all the tone loss that (even true-bypass) pedals impart to your sound, especially if you have a lot of pedals on your pedalboard.

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal has done wonders for the pickups in my guitars. I have it first in my chain and it gives everything a more robust sound.

The ability to tweak the Treble and Bass is crucial in finding that sweet spot in your tone.

Never leave home without it!

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is great for getting a cranked power amp tone at lower volumes. Also gets my Strat more present in the mix and provides overall thicker and well rounded overdrive tone. Adds some life to the clean tones as well. Plays well with other gain pedals so it is good for stacking.

    Clean & Mean

    By Fool For A Fender

    from Los Angeles

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

I use it to boost my clean and overdrive solos. I don't want to put down other manufactures because what works for me and my style of music may not work for you. I own the Amp Boost the EP-1 and a few other one knob wonders and they sound great. But when you add great sound with the ability to fine tune every sonic detail it doesn't get much better.
The best thing about this pedal is how versatile it is. Most boost pedals have one knob, one sound and that's it.
    Top notch inside and out
For what it does to my overall sound it's worth ever penny

    Does exactly what I wanted.

    By MXR fan

    from NY,NY

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

I already love my guitar/amp sound but I bought this pedal specifically to make my solos stick out live like they would on a recording: just a little added fattness and sustain while retaining the tone that's already there. I put this pedal last in the effects loop of my amp. Volume up at around 1:30, Drive at 9:00, highs all the way up (bypass) and lows cut slightly at about 3:00. These settings give me exactly what I was after: a slight but noticeable volume increase with a light compression that makes the notes fat and lively. The added gain increases sustain as well. I like this set up a lot because its subtle but effective. I've played around with the pedal in front of the amp too but I generally prefer to plug the guitar straight into the amp's input so there's minimal signal loss from the guitar. I've found this to be especially important with passive pickups (even high output models). I only use a few other pedals (EQ, delay, verb)and they all go in the loop. Also, I would say that you can use this pedal as an overdrive to some degree depending on what sort of amp you use. I wanked around with it going into the front of my little VHT Special 6 (class a tube combo) and you can get some cool drive tones with the drive knob jacked and volume back a bit. Low watt class A amps obviously drive a lot more easily than a 100 watt stack so in those cases you'll want to stick with a tube screamer or something. Overall the Fat Boost pedal has lived up to my expectations and I would recommend it. It may seem a little pricey for what it does but it's a quality piece of gear and, if you know what to expect from it, well worth the investment.

Another great pedal! Fulltone does it again!

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

I just got this 2 days ago (Friday) at Guitar Center. A great addition to my pedalboard! I am using this with my Fender Eric Clapton stratocaster. It serves as a great distortion/drive pedal with the EC strat's active electronics. I like the ability to tweak the bass and treble response on the pedal as well as the volume and treble. Another great pedal, way to go Fulltone! I highly suggest you add this (and the OCD) to your pedalboards.
Great tonal tweaking options to allow people to get whatever sound they want.
Good, rugged quality. Great size for the pedalboard.
The better priced of the Fulltone pedals (they can get pricey but you get what you pay for...good quality products).

Why doesn't this pedal get more recognition!?

    By VoxTasticj7

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

It's better than the Keeley boosts and definitely better than that cheap crap that most people buy. If you LOVE your tone and don't want it hindered or changed at all, this does it. Simple boost - easy. Add a little color - easy. Change EQ - easy. Easily the best boost I've used and I've used them all. Love it.

    Good boost

    By hatching

    from Toronto

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

This type of a boost pedal definitely isn't for everyone, but if you're looking for a non-clean boost, this can't be beat. I use it at the end of my chain to boost for solo's. I have the drive level set pretty much off, but I find that this thing adds an overall thickness to my tone that I love. As a result it's good for boosting cleanish or overdriven signals coming into it. There is an unreal amount of volume on tap in this thing, way more than you would ever need.

    update on pedal board position

    By stratosaurus

    from N Dallas TX

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

I moved this to the end of my chain as Fuller recommends and I have to say it gives you a great clean boost option after your other gains or pedals. I use it pretty clean, drive down and tones up, just to add a clarity to the line. Something cool happens when you run an OCD into it. Gets a cool dark Trower gain w a lot of dynamics. Great price for a little icing on the tone cake.

    Fulltone Fat Boost 3

    By Paul COT

    from McKinney, TX

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

The greatest unknown pedal in the guitar realm.I do not use this Fuller suggests (end of chain)and indeed it is not an "Overdrive" or a "gain pedal", it is not claimed to be! BUT I use mine like Trower did before he got his custom RTO. I use this as a "clean boost" and tonal enhancer in front of my OCD and my other high gain pedals. It stays on all the time. It can push the front of your amp (if +35db cannot push your amp, I am wondering what sort of amp you have??) you can dirty this up but IT IS NOT an OD it is a tonal line booster, clean boost improves your tone. I dig it w/ the OCD it is a touch of dark Trower heaven. I think Fuller is so bad tempered because of the gross misunderstandings of most "guitar" players. I get it Mike, keep them coming!

    Fulltone Fat Boost v3

    By Paul COT

    from McKinney, TX

Comments about Fulltone FatBoost 3 FB-3 Guitar Effects Pedal:

I probably do not use this as most. I use this as a clean boost line driver BEFORE my OCD and Dist's. It gives me a cool Robin Trower tone with the OCD (like he used in 05 before the RTO). Love these two pedals they will always be a part of my board. Two unique winners here. If you need a transparent clean boost that can dirty your signal a little or enhance the high harmonics or boost/cut the lows. This is the puppy. Stays on pretty much all the time to add more presence and push to my guitars drives the OD and Dist making them sound better.
