Comments about Fulltone MDV Mini DejaVibe Vibe/Chorus Pedal:
I have noticed the comments on this pedal range from great to awful. I have a lot of experience with vibe pedals and I own this pedal, so I will share my experience. This vibe is a bit more subtle than others I have tried or owned, and this is where I think some of the bad reviews come from. The modulation or phase shifting doesn't go to the extremes of others as far as depth or saturation. However, this vibe has thickness and warmth that I can't get from others out there, which is why it remains on my board. The pulse or wobble is spot-on in my opinion, and it has just enough modulation or phase-shifting to give it a lush sound.
If you are looking for over-the-top modulation then look elsewhere. I think this vibe has a nice balance of wobble and modulation, just enough to give good color to your tone without things getting messy. I use a Malmsteen Strat and have no trouble getting Hendrix style vibe-tones when I want to. I also use it to add color to my own creations. It also works very well with my FullDrive 2. One last comment, this vibe really opens up at stage volume - the "thump" or "wobble" really come out on stage, so keep this in mind when playing at home or at lower volumes. I think it is a great buy for an authentic lamp and photo-cell vibe.
Comments about Fulltone MDV Mini DejaVibe Vibe/Chorus Pedal:
After hearing so much boasting from the Fulltone website about how he copied the EXACT original Uni-Vibe pedal, I was expecting a whole lot more. I played this and the MDV-2, they BOTH have this really odd sound that happens toward the end of the rotating effect that sounds like you're doing a quick dive with a wammy bar. this was more apparent on the "vibrato" selection than the "chorus", but the switch from "modern" to "vintage" seemed to have no effect on this diving sound. I compared both of these pedals side by side to a Voodoo Lab "Micro Vibe" and thought the Micro Vibe sounded infinitely better and is significantly cheaper, and also true-bypass. this detail could be desired for some kinds of music i'm sure, but it definitely is NOT the same effect used by Hendrix in "Machine Gun" for example, as it is boasted to be. i would encourage readers to play them for themselves first, but i would highly recommend you compare it to a Micro Vibe before making the purchase. I played these with an American Strat through a Blackface Super Reverb (and no, the amp vibrato wasn't on before anyone asks this ridiculous question :) I played them all in line together, I played them plugged in one at a time. Also, neither of these DejaVibe's have battery hookups, you have to run a 9V power supply. If you have any Fuzz pedal in your chain, this is a serious problem.
Comments about Fulltone MDV Mini DejaVibe Vibe/Chorus Pedal:
If you want that classic vibe sound, look no further. This thing is awesome. Personally I find it works 1000% better in front of overdrive pedals, but that's personal choice. Also sadly seems to work a bit better with single coils, but still sounds amazing on humbuckers. Again personal choice. Vibrato channel sucks, but who buys a vibe for that anyways? The speed knob is big enough to adjust with your foot on the fly, which is a big plus. This is probably the best vibe clone out there. If you can afford it, I'd highly recommend it.
Comments about Fulltone MDV Mini DejaVibe Vibe/Chorus Pedal:
If you need to play Bridge of Sighs or Machine Gun, crank some distortion and this gets you the sound. With cleaner settings, you can channel Gilmour. Fulltone uses the right (crazy!) circuit design and protects it inside a bullet-proof box. One smaller maker of vibes puts the oversize speed knob on the side, which is smarter for foot-controlling it. (Retro-man's UberVibe) But you'll pay more for that, and otherwise the design is fine. Tonal options are also good.
Comments about Fulltone MDV Mini DejaVibe Vibe/Chorus Pedal:
Fuller has hit a home run with this Vibe! This MiniDejavibe is all about tone. I find it to be a very authentic sounding Univibe clone. Very liquid and watery sounding with a huge throb, and works good for much more than Hendrix,Trower, SRV, Pink Floyd, etc. I primarily use it with my Strats as they are my prefered guitar, but I also get great tones with my humbucker equipped guitars, as well as a Less Paul loaded with P90's. For my needs it serves me much better than my Phasers, and gives me better tone and more controll over type of sound and effect. Yes, I consider this MiniDejavibe to be among the very best Univibe type pedals ever. It is a nice small size, and as a bonus the speed knob is easy to adjust with my feet too.
Comments about Fulltone MDV Mini DejaVibe Vibe/Chorus Pedal:
The Fulltone Deja Vibe is awesome with a Strat. Seriously, gooey, liquidy, deep, beautiful. But with humbuckers (such as on a Les Paul) there is a buzzing that comes in, especially when you play lower notes, that ruins your sound. I've bought two and both had this issue. I may try a T-Rex Viper instead, but that's much more expensive. If you have humbuckers, don't buy this pedal. Seriously.
Comments about Fulltone MDV Mini DejaVibe Vibe/Chorus Pedal:
I have been using this for about a year now. I didnt want that typical chorus sound, I wanted something more vintage and did I get it. This thing is Warren Haynes, Robbin Trower, Hendrix, all in one. You can switch between modern and vintage depending on your application as well you can change the rate. The bright LED pulses to the meter you are using for an assistance when setting the chorus and Vibe. Pure Quality, of course it's a Fulltone.
Comments about Fulltone MDV Mini DejaVibe Vibe/Chorus Pedal:
I bought my Deja Vibe a few weeks back and after a few adjustments to the settings you would swear Robin Trower was in the house. Mike Fuller has done it again. I use it in conjunction with my OCD and Clyde Deluxe and now im in Trower nirvana. Very glad I added it to my pedalboard.
