Vintage tremolo meets modern innovation.

Fulltone Supa-Trem Model ST-1, one of the finest amp-style Tremolo pedals on the market since its debut in 1996, just got a whole lot better. It's now also an incredible sounding clean boost!

For years people have been turning the ST-1’s Mix knob down all the way, opening the pedal, and turning up its internal volume control to maximum, and using the Supa-Trem as a very subtle clean boost. Now Fulltone added a low-profile Volume knob on the outside of the pedal, and increased its available gain to around 15dB... allowing the ST-1 to pull double duty as a stellar clean boost. One reason the Supa-Trem sounds so good is that it uses a wonderful Analog Devices JFET AD711JN at the heart of its circuit, giving you a warm yet clear tone when your pedal is turned on.

The ST-1 also employs a custom-designed Fulltone Opto-1 photocell with an extremely fast recovery time which no other manufacturer can match. This makes it behave just like an old 1960’s American tube-amp, but without the annoying ticking sounds that plague amps and other tremolo pedals. The Supa-Trem is the most versatile tremolo on the market, sporting True-Bypass with Blue On/Off L.E.D. and a Red Rate L.E.D. showing your speed at all times (even when pedal is Off) so you can drop right into the song at the correct tempo.

With the ST-1’s large Rate and Mix knobs you can fine-tune on-the-fly with your foot. The Speed footswitch correctly halves or doubles your tempo so you stay rhythmically-correct with the tempo of the song you’re playing!

Finally, there’s a Hard/Soft footswitch for choosing between Soft Mode (a rollicking sine-wave) or Hard Mode, which is more of a square-wave machine-gun stutter. There's an internal trimmer to fine-tune the current reaching the Photocell to change feel of the waveform, although we recommend leaving it where we set it so you have the ability to turn down the Mix control and not hear any tremolo when using as a clean boost.

Features
  • New Volume knob with added 15dB of gain
  • True vintage-style photocell without ticking
  • True bypass
  • LED status and speed indicators
  • Half/Full speed footswitch
  • Soft/Hard footswitch

If you like organic Tremolo tones there’s nothing that approaches the Fulltone Supa-Trem ST-1.

For those of us whose amps do not feature tremolo it seems a purchase of the Boss TR-2 is a rite of passage for guitarists. Unfortunately we soon discover that the TR-2 is noisy, muffles tone and produces a severe volume drop. This, naturally, sends us in search of alternatives. Top end gear is never cheap but I already own and love the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 so I went looking for a Fulltone product again. Enter the Supa Trem which not only avoids the pitfalls of cheaper pedals but opens an entirely new dimension of musicality and control. It is very organic sounding with zero detectable noise (e.g. ticking from the internal components). I was worried about not having a waveform pot but the hard/soft control takes care of that department. The speed control is a unique and very usable feature. The main controls - speed and mix - are standard on all trems but these permit very gradual changes . It's such a warm, musical sound that I now leave this pedal on 70% or more of the time on a very subtle setting just to give a bit more life to my overall guitar sound. It required no adjustments of the internal pots right out of the box but it's comforting to know they are available if needed. Can't recommend it enough.

Do you like loud ticking sounds and pedals that stop working after two days?. If you answered "Yes", then pick up the Supa-trem. If you answered "No", then look for a company that makes a good product. Also, maybe look for customer service that doesn't answer questions with questions, or just gives sarcastic answers to legit questions. FULLTONE, good?...NOPE.

Comments about Fulltone ST-1 Supa-Trem Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

The controls are simple and intuitive, and allow you to make rapid changes to the effect without having to drop to your knees mid song, even when the pedal isn't engaged. It's the next best thing to tap tempo, with a sound that I haven't yet found in a tap-tempo unit.

While the sound is pure vintage tremolo, there's a range of adjustability that's not available in amp trem. For someone in a active coverband covering a wide range a genres, the Supa Trem covers any sound I need.

I've found two minor downsides so far. The red LED that indicates speed is totally invisibile in direct sunlight. Also, the knobs move very easily, so if you blindly stab at the switch with your foot you could accidentially move the knob. Nothing a little coordination doesn't eliminate.

I did a lot of searching, and a LOT of listening. The Supa Trem, to me, is the gold standard in pedal trems.

Comments about Fulltone ST-1 Supa-Trem Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

I find myself using this pedal even when I don't need trem, it makes my guitar warm and smooth, and when needed you can turn up the "mix" dial and enjoy the 60's vibes. I'm using a Tele, SoulMate, and Tiny Terror and this thing definitely adds a lot for the sounds I'm looking for. I will say that it's pretty simple and certainly not versatile, but what it does, it *executes*.

Comments about Fulltone ST-1 Supa-Trem Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

New stuff that has that old sound. I bought this trem for one thing, that "Born on the Bayou" CCR sound. It does it, and more. It is pro-grade solid built, but don't take my word for it, this is what John Fogerty uses now. I am a novice, and this cost as much as my used 50 watt Marshall tube amp, but for the sound, worth every nickle.

The tremolo works great, but still wasn't my cup of tea as far as the mix control goes. You loose detail the higher you turn the mix to wet. Customer service from fulltone is terrible. No replies to your emails even after 3 weeks.

Comments about Fulltone ST-1 Supa-Trem Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is the real deal, and Fulltone units are the best your money can buy both in terms of quality and sound and cost (you get what you pay for). They use design techniques and standards that are far above most companies and they haven't invented anything new here, they just design and build great effects that pass your entire instrument signal without coloration to its tonal qualities (and with the effect, quite an accomplishment but not difficult). In this case, they have replicated the wonderful, full of tone, tremolo effect as heard/experienced on older Marshall and Fender amps. Plug in, add some sweet spring reverb and push it into a nice tube amp and you've got the most wondeful delta blues slide setup imaginable, or, twang some country and you'll hear the familiar sounds of some of the greatest hits. Crank the amp into oblivion and step on the switches the right way and it's metal-mania time. Get this thing, you won't be sorry and you'll have it years from now as well.

Comments about Fulltone ST-1 Supa-Trem Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a great tremolo. I had the Boss TR-2 for a while but wasn't happy with it. So, after seeing one of these on a friends board, I decided to bite the bullet and get one. I will never look back. The main thing I love about this pedal is that I can set the speed of the trem, with my foot, to the tempo of the song we are doing and see it with the red LED so that there is no guessing before I engage the trem. I love the hard/soft feature too. The soft trem give you a very smooth vintage trem and the hard trem can give you almost a machine gun effect with the speed turned up and sounds great with mild distortion. This is a very versatile tremolo and well worth the money. The case is built like a tank too. I have 2 of them, one on each of my pedalboards. Just buy it, you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Fulltone ST-1 Supa-Trem Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

Fulltone get high marks for this great sounding pedal. The range of effect goes from barely audible to helicopter choppy. With the pedal engaged or bypassed there is very little noise, perhaps an order or magnitude less than a tube amplifier on idle. There is no killing or modification on your guitar tone or dynamics. The hard and soft waves sound noticeably different, that hard wave a bit more choppy and the soft a bit smoother and more dreamy. Build quality is excellent. The speed switch is almost unnecessary, as the speed dial easily goes from 0.25 or 0.5 hertz to 120 hertz. I guess the switch give you a quick way to double the tempo. The only drawbacks I see is that the speed LED is too bright and gives me the jitters, even when the effect is on bypass. I blacked out the speed LED with acrylic paint. Also, the pedal comes with no power supply, but it is a fairly common 9V with negative center (like a One Spot).
