Hi! Its me again...OLDSCHOOL. Just wanted to add an update to my previous review of the GK 210BLX-II. After 7 mo. of weekly use, this cab is still sounding good, no buzzes or rattles. This is kinda exciting to me, because 2 weeks ago, me and this cab went tumbling down a flight of 8 stairs, and when we hit the landing, I bounced one direction, and the cab another. Everyone was worried about me, but my musicians heart was worried about my cabinet!! I came out of the ordeal with minor bumps and bruises and a damaged ego, but the cab was unscathed!! No loose joints, no cracks, nothing knocked loose internally--NOTHING!! I am amazed!! Last nite was the first gig since the fall, and no rattles, no buzzes-- my 75 Jazz sang, growled, barked, and kicked tail!! Would I buy this cab again? You bet I would!! Treat her with TLC and respect, and she'll be good to you!

I bought this cabinet to keep at home to avoid having to lug my 2x15 cabinet back and forth between my apartment and my practice space. It's ok for noodling around at home, but the cabinet has a really high ended, tinny sound to it. Might sound better if combined with a 1x15 cab, but I wouldn't advise using it for live performances by itself. If you have to choose between one or the other, I'd go with the 1x15.Also, the cabinet, despite its small size, is very heavy and awkward to carry. It'd be a pain to carry along regularly to gigs.

had this cab for 1.25 years, and one of the speakers decided to crap out at a gig.the cabinet is a keeper, constructed real well w/rugged grill plate and handles, so tossed the speakers and replaced w/Eminence speakers. now have solid dependable performance, and did not have to deal with the hassel of warranty return shipments, etc. and the risk of getting another bad speaker. summary: nice cabinet / poor quality speakers

Completes my rig!

By OLDSCHOOL

from Pinckneyville IL

See all my reviews

My bass rig consisted of a Behringer BX4500H head and a PV 115 cabinet. With it, I had decent volume, but the PV cab doesn't have a tweeter/horn. I had alot of bottom end boom! So my need was to add some mid and hi range to my sound, and also to add another 8 ohms to allow my amp to operate at the desired 4 ohms. I decided a 210 cab would fit the need. I looked at several different ones at different $$ ranges. At a local music shop, I came across this GK 210BLX-II cab. I like that GK changed the looks of the Backline series to look more classy and professional--I didn't care for the original "kindergarten crayon" writing on them. This cab doesn't have a horn, and isn't ported, which is exactly what I wanted. I don't slap and pop in my playing, so no horn needed, and my PV cab is ported, so it provides the bottom end. The lack of these two features also makes the 210BLX-II a little less bulky than other cabs, which keeps my rig from being too big. I am pleased with the midrange punch it has added to my sound, and with the extra 8 ohms, it allows my amp to perform to its design potential. The cab is built rugged and sturdy, but the handles should have been located for better carrying balance. I haven't had any speaker rattling or buzzing. I know the cab's power rating and am careful not to push it past it's limits. But if I ever do blow a speaker, I will replace with stronger ones. Overall, I'm pleased with this cab--good sound, reliable performance, and not bad on the wallet. Try one out--it may be just what you need.

an okay cab.

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I seen this cab before...if you put all three GK cabs together you get unbelievable sound. But with the Gk bass head if will be difficult. Why? Because it has no fan power the GK bass head will go off. To get all 3 GK amps you need a power amp bass head that could handle up to 2,950 watts up. Of course this is a good cab but if you use it well the sound will be okay.

Go for it!

I bought this cab about 3 months ago along with the 1x15" cab and the Backline 600 head. The rig sounded pretty good while it lasted, but the head kept overheating, so I traded it in for an Ampeg head, and now my cabs sound incredible! This cab gives me the perfect midrange clarity to complement the thick bottom end I get from the 15. It's amazing the kind of tone you can get from a 2x10" that costs you under $200. When I took my head back, I contemplated trading the cabs in for an Ampeg 4x10", but when I played my new head through these cabs it sounded just as good, if not better! If you're looking for good, solid cab for a great price, you've found the right one!

Nice Cheap Cab

I just bought an SWR 200 watt head and needed a small punchy cab for it. I looked at SWR's and Ampegs but they were way too expencive. Then i saw the Backline 2x10. It was only like $189 and it sounds amazing. nice punchy midrange, smooth sound, and no crackling at all. I screwed on a few casters and now roll it right in to all our shows. Its a great amp for almost no cash, I highly recommend it....plus u can add on a bigger cab if its not loud enough or ur liking.

If it didn't weight so much.

I bought this cab over a year ago with a used GK Backline 350 head. I'm very happy with everything except the weight. Whenever I go somewhere to play, it is always a pain to pickup. The handles help, but when you have two people picking it up, it is unbalanced and does a job on your wrist.

Best Bass Cab Ever?

By StratMan420-VOsI.

from Chicago, IL

See all my reviews

I bought this cab for my Ashdown Electric Blue 180 because its speaker blew out above half volume and I thought this would balance out the higher volumes. And I am so glad I bought it. It's deep and heavy compared to some similar 2x10s, but the handles make it super easy to transport. The grille, covering, and protective corners are extremely durable, and I'm sure it has a lot of life in it. The speakers sound amazing, especially on the really low notes, much better than I expected on a 2x10. And to get to plug your bass amp into a new, true Gallien Krueger Cab for under $200 sounds almost too good to be true. But it's really just a perfect cab to play with.

I've been back to playing for 5 yrs now and noticed that I have a "blah" high end. I coupled this with 115BLX-II and a Backline 600 and found the missing high end I've been looking for.

Great 2x10

By Pedro-vkCyI

from Chatsworth, GA

I bought the 210BLX-II because I needed something quick. The main thing I loved about it was the price and the size of it. It sucks to haul around an 8x10 to every little practice or something so I bought this. The sound is awesome, does good with the low B string and excellent with the highs. I use an Ibanez SR885 bass and I have a GK 1001RB amp that I run the cab with and its just excellent.

More boom for you buck...

Absolutley amazing cab. Constantly putting it in and taking it out of a car is a hassle becuase of its weight, but the sound qualtiy is amazing for the price. It gets quite loud, the only trouble I have is that the speakers clip when im jammin' with friends, but we play insanely loud. Overall, amazing G-K sound for knock-off price.

Loud tight punchy and clean , could use rubber feet on the bottom. All in all very good cab when paired with a 1x15 cab.

worked only briefly

By Anonymous

I was decently satisfied with this unit until one speaker went from a rattling sound, to just being all out shot! The unit was a value; pricewise, but even the price doesn't justify the low quality speakers. The cabinet is still decent, so I'm looking for a new set of 10s for the box now.

I had purchased this cab to stack on top of my GK 410 cabinet for the 4ohm balance. These two cabinets with a little or alot of watts produce really nice tone. I use these for practice and small gigs. Great gear!

Excited for 2 minutes

By Edgefree

from Naples, Fl

Backline 210 BLXI was excited to open the box and plug it in but my excitement turned to pure disappointment when I plugged it in. One speaker rattled within minutes using a 150w crate amp which is less power than the cabinet is rated at. I am very disappointed with this cabinet. Rattling speakers in a new cabinet are not a value at any price.

Very Good Cab

By Valmont_Bass_Player

This cab is very good and will get very loud. The only problem I have with it is that the handles are put in a very bad spot and when you carry it it leans back and it is very awkward. I pair this cab with the Backline 1x15 and the Backline 600 head and it sounds wonderful and gets VERY loud.

I bought this cabinet to go with my new SWR Combo 2x10c amp, and together it was a match made in heaven! They sound great together, loud, clear, punchy, plenty of bottom end and headroom! I couldn't be happier with this new set up! Thanks!

Great Cab

This is a great cab for such a low price. I have its stacked with a Peavey 1x15 and the two cabs together put out some thunder. This cab is solidly built and easy to carry. The handles on the side are spring loaded and recessed into the side of the cab. It has plastic corner pieces rather than steel but it still a solid 2 x 10.
