This amp is very nice! I have owned this beast for 3/4 of a year it has never displeased me. the only thing i can complain about it is there is a little bit of crackly feedback when having the amp above 75% and hitting a drop D or a low E. But that doesnt matter, it also handles slap and pops very well in slap bass lines...the overdrive effect gives you a little bit of diverse sound its pretty cool. This is all you need for performances litteraly the XLR out (direct out) has it so u go straight into the PA system so your okay there. The only thing i would change about this amp is to put a horn in it so you could get a little more high end. I would recommend this amp to gigging bassists like me.

The Backline 115 is a good head with a bad cabinet. I blew out the speaker three times under warranty. One time caused the circuit board to fry (on stage). Assuming the board doesn't fry and the fuse blows like it should, the fuse is easy to replace yourself. So is the speaker. Do so. Once I replaced the speaker with an Eminence Legend, the amp was three times as loud, three times and solid, three times as heavy, and sounded a million times better. Even so, the highs are still a bit muddy (no crossover to a horn), but the bass thunders.

just simply awesome

this amp is amazing for how small it is. I'm in a band where the drummer and guitarist try to drown everything out. even though the guitar play has a mean ibanez blaster my amp can still compete even when its not turned to full blast. The overdrive kinda sucks and isn't for me. but the over all tone and sound can't be competed with!

Decent amp with good playability.

Before I had this amp, I only owned a small Peavy practice amp but had used some other larger ones w/ my band. I have to say, this amp is a good all-rounder. Its volume range is great, you can use it for practice alone or with a band. It has a good selection of Compression/EQ etc. It has overdrive, though the soun is a little muddy. One of the coolest parts, however, is the rings you see on the top, bottom and sides of this amp. Identical models will sort of 'snap' in to the other amps, creating various stacks. I hope to get 1 or 2 more of these because it would be much more convinient to move, and still have the power of a large amp.If you have the money, buy it! It can be used for any purpose.

Best I've ever played, which isn't saying alot...

I've had this amp for about 6 months now and so far it has been great to me. The tone which I have been getting from it is great and rarely do I have to go past the 5's area to be heard in my band. However there are a few pitfalls to this amp, such as the fact that the distortion on it is pretty much useless becuase its so quiet. I am sometimes afraid to turn it up at shows for fear of blowing out the speaker. That being siad I actually enjoy haivng this amp. IF you do turn it up too high there is a slight distortion, but I personally like the growl that you get from it when this happens.

Great soud for a good price

I grew up on Ampeg amps, but this amp is a powerful little monster that gives an Ampeg a run for the money (but if you have the bucks get the Ampeg). It's got good tone and punch for a small club or bar. I have no problem be heard over my guitar players (both using 100 watt Marshall combos). Add on top the DI lets you use it as a monitor and go straight the sound board. Overdrive feature is nice, but I don't use it.

Muddy Waters

By Madpockets

I played this amp at a small house party recently. While impressed with the features of the amp (distortion, equalizer, etc.) the sound was very muddy. I had to turn it way up to be heard with drums and guitar and anything passed "5" was too distorted. It ruined the party.

Decent Amp

Ive had this amp for a year now, and i must say i like it. I added a 2x10 cab to it, which makes it sound a lot nicer. I love the contour switch which helps me get the voicing i like fro my playing. i strongly recommend that a 2x10 ro 4x10 cab is used with this amp.

The Backline 115 is a good head with a bad cabinet. I blew out the speaker three times under warranty. One time caused the circuit board to fry (on stage). It's good I'm satisfied I've had it for two years, rarely play bass but when my band plays at my place he uses it, it's loud, has distortion, which I wouldn't recommend using, but all in all it's a really nice amp.

Great amp...when playing alone.

By Bigworm77

from Groton, CT

I bought this combo when I joined up with an band and realized my Peavey 112 just wouldn't cut it with the 8 12" guitar speakers I had to compete with. Sounded great in the store. But playing w/ the band... yikes. I had to crank it to be heard, and it was way too muddy for any real tone to be heard or felt. No amount of equalizer tweaks managed to help me cut through any better. My 112 had cut through better (really!) Don't make the mistake I did (I have since sprung for a 4x10 and a 350W head...what I should've done in the first place! Great practice amp, not much else.

Rock n' Roll

By Roscobass22

This amp is awesome I first saw it on sale at my local guitar and bass dealer the person said that that is was a great buy so I tryed it out it is a huge upgrade compared my Behringer BX300 which is a 30 watt amp. This animal rocks the house back and forth like a baby shakes his rattle. I have a pa so once you mic it up to that it's really loud. Thanx 4 taking the time to read this review. I recommend this amp 2 anyone!
