I love this head. I picked a used one. It has earth shaking lows and sparkling highs. The distortion is really fun to use. For only being less than 200 watts it's freakin loud. I suggest this to anyone doesn't want to spend a ton of money on a good, loud head.
I got this head in conjunction with a GK Backline 410 a few months back, and wow, was I impressed. You are without getting your bang for your buck with this head. My guitarist was concerned that I going from using a 200 watt Behringer head pushing two EV 12?s, to a 125 watt pushing 4x10s. Would I be heard during practice and gigs? No problem! The sound was just right for small venues. The direct out XLR sends a nice clean signal to the PA and front of house. The two issues I do have with the head is the sound that the overdrive channel produces. That could just be a personal preference thing? The other is the single inch output. I wanted add a Backline 115 under my 410. No joy though I know this head could push it. Overall, this is a nice head for the price, but if you are looking to stack, start looking at something like the GK 600 or better.
Haven't had much time to toy with this head but what I've tried was not disappointing, really like that overdrive channel, takes me back (although could use a little more warmth leaning towards a tube sound). Like the clean tight sound on channel A. For what you pay for this GK head makes it a good value amp. Great as a practice amp.
I gave it an over all three, thats because it only lasted me three weeks. I love gallien krueger products, mabey this was just assembled wrong but it kept cutting out when I was in the middle of songs during band practice then the other day it started smoking and blew up. This product sucks.
This is a awsome little amp!!! Its got a ton of features, and u can get just about any tone from it. Its also pretty loud for its size. Its about 3 times louder than my Peavey TNT 115!!! Which has about 25watts more power!
The amp has everything I need. It's got that Gallien-Krueger sound for a great value. The only problem is that the head doesn't have a fan built in, so you gotta make sure that it stays cool. I keep a regular fan on behind it, so its fine.
I just bought the backline, and so far I have no problems with it. It gets warm after I play a show with it, but most heads do. I wish there was more inputs and outputs on he back of it. For the price, it is more than what you pay for.
