I had never used Gallien-Krueger amps before...all I knew about them was that Duff Mckagan of Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver used them. I always liked Duff and he was one of my favorite bassists . The thing that surprised me most was that he had a very DISTINCT tone that cut through everything and since he used them I took a gamble of buying this amp and boy did it pay off !!! The first think to strike you is that it is smaller than those huge ampeg amps I see a lot of basists use. The gold speakers make a great sight and also pump out some monster tone. I use a Fender Jazz 5 bass. One of the main problems I've seen with a lot of amps is that 5 string does not sound that gud compared to the others ones...maybe its my bass but on this baby the sound and tone was awesome . I plugged the bass directly into the amp. Believe me, no pedals are needed just plug and start playing.I got a variety of tones, from the david ellefson like tone to the duff mckagan tone. I even got a great flea-like tone for slapping. I would definately recommend this amp...perhaops some ppl may not like the tone or the versatility but I got eveything I could ask for in an amp!

Well this bass rig is excellent and good but the amp head is all about turning on and off. When in normal drive This amp head has it's "overheat" problems. When starting to play a song if you want to put gain higher I suggest not to put the amp head more "loud" the higher the amp head gain goes up the faster the amp head goes off in just a second. What I suggest is for crazy bass players if you want good tone and bass sound this is not rig for GROUND NOISE!

    Awesome Deal!

    By jcarp030

This GK Goldline 410 cab and Backline 600 head together makes for a great deal! I've used only GK products since I first got my hands on a backline 110 6 years ago and I can honestly say I've never been disappointed with them! The tone and power are so amazing through the cab's gold cones! Much brighter than normal paper cones. My only regret is not getting a more powerful head, but for the money, this is the best deal you'll find. I'd been looking for a serious upgrade to my amp and after 6 months of searching, this was the winner!

Great rig for any bass player

    By Leftybassman88

I recently bought this rig and I couldn't be happier. I play in a heavy metal band and I was really surprised when I first plugged in. The distortion chanel on this amp is amazing. It keeps up with my guitarist rig which is a Peavy tube head. Great purchase for any bass player who wants some bottom end.

    Good Bang for The Buck

If you can't afford an Ampeg get this combo. For the price this is a great cab. I have owned it for 4 months and have had no major problems. The amp has more power than the speakers can handle. If I crank it up to high I get a pretty muddy sound. But this set up can hit some frequencies that Ampeg can't hit. The gain is ok although I really don't use it. If you set it up right you can unleash this beast.

    Best deal ever

I have never used anything but GK products when it comes to my amplification. This rig is not too awfully expensive and it has one of the greatest sounds I've ever heard.

    Nice Amp

    By Anonymous

Though I don't own it myself, I played at a show recently where a bassist from another band had this combo. He really likes it and for good reason: the rig sounds sweet. We played at a small(er) club and it sounded great; filled the room; definitely has solid tone. Once I have enough money I'm going to purchase this amp.

    GREAT ...but....

    By PR JAZZMAN

GREAT EQUIPMENT,(The Backline600 Head is my small rig) but when you match a 4 ohm head with a 8 ohm cabinet you get half the power of the head (300/2 =180 watts on the Backline600)4 ohm head with 4 ohm cabinet is the best way to go....OR get another 8 ohm 4x10 connect them in series AND THEN you have an 8x10 RIG with the FULL 300 watts...you'll be moving some serious air...

I bought this setup almost a year ago, and am sure I got the best value for the dollar. The tone is excellent coming from both of my Ibanez Basses (especially my 5 string K5, Korn's bass player Fieldy's Signature bass)The slapping and popping sounds so good, my friend is trading in his Peavy rig and buying this GK setup. Great for the garage band level players. this rig could play any small gig without worrying about being drown out by the drums/guitars, your tone turning into a molten blob of notes at higher volume. You definitely want to consider the Goldline 1x15 for extra bottom end for the 5 string players. I LOVE THIS AMP!!!

    Juiceless

    By KJ-DDrwY

The GK Backline600/Goldline410 has some cool features and sounds great by itself but can't hold its own next to a drum kit and even a tiny Fender combo amp.
