The Genz Benz GBE 1200 bass amp takes the excellent design and tonal refinements of the GBE 600 and adds 1200W output power (at 2 ohms). Its ability to drive resistive and reactive speaker loads plus its extended burst power makes it louder, punchier, warmer and more articulate. The GBE 1200 is 3 rack units high with a beautiful 5mm-thick aluminum faceplate and curved metal rack handles. It has a dual channel preamp--one FET and one tube--with 5-band active EQ for maximum tonal flexibility. Each preamp can be used individually or blended together. In addition to the channel controls, it also has Genz Benz's Signal Shape circuit with Low Frequency Extension, Mid Scoop, and High Frequency Attack controls. The channels and Signal Shape circuit are footswitchable with an included 5-button footswitch.
The GBE 1200 delivers 550W at 8 ohms, 1000W at 4 ohms, and 1200W at 2 ohms. It has an active/passive selectable input, signal mute switch, tuner out, a soft-limit circuit, LED indicators, master volume, sturdy metal chassis, knurled aluminum knobs with detents, variable speed fan cooling, full-featured D.I., three effects loops, slave out jack, dual Speakon® output connectors, POWERFLEX impedance circuit, impedance selector switch, dual voltage switch, and a heavy-duty toroidal transformer. 19"W x 5-1/2"H x 15"D. 42 lbs.
Powerflex impedance circuitry optimizes the massive power supply to more effectively deliver maximum power at 4 ohms and extended 2 ohm operation into reactive loads. A large switch on the rear panel is provided so that the amplifier can be switched to correctly match the total cabinet impedance load. A front-panel amber LED indicator indicates when the Powerflex feature is switched to 2 ohm operation.

Man this thing is great. Ive been playing for a few years and when show up at a church function all the other bass players allrather play through my set than theirs. this system delivers punch i only use the 2ohms with 550 watts but and thats all you really need no matter where you play!

Genz Benz products are American made IN America. Ampeg makes EVERYTHING in Asia. Look at the description of even their high priced Heritage series and it says "Assembled" in the US... ITS STILL MANUFACTURED IN CHINA!! Long gone are the days of Ampeg producing quality products like the 70's Blue Line amps and Straight Back 8x10 cabs.That said, I have NEVER found a bass amp so loaded with features as the GBE1200. The only reason it gets a 4.5 in Features is because it doesn't have a Headphone out. The build is beyond solid, the price is great and the sound is UNREAL! I'm using a Warwick Thumb 5 NT with this amp and 2 of Genz Benz XB2 4x10 cabs (which are the best built/sounding cabs I've heard) and the rig is nothing short of a dream. Genz Benz may not be very well heard of but Musicians Friend offers a satisfaction guarantee so you can always return it. SERIOUSLY, A/B this thing against an SVT VR or SVT Heritage and you'll see the difference. Ampeg is charging people for their NAME, not the quality that made their products unmatched decades ago. The GBE1200 is the epitomy of quality in all aspects. I use it in my studio AND live all the time and I'm never dissappointed with it. Genz Benz dominates, do your tone a favor and try this!

I had tried all the rest, then I tried the BEST. I had been looking for something that could enhance my custom bass and by chance I saw this cool looking amp in the local music store, not expecting anything special, I plugged in my bass...end of story. Yes that's right, The Genz Benz GBE 1200 is the ULTIMATE. It has everything I'm looking for. Power,Punch,Grittiness,and Sensitivity. All in one package. I don't care if it's forty-two Lbs. It's worth carrying every ounce. Every place I've played and I've played thousands of gigs, it never fails that someone will come up to me and ask what the heck am I playing through. Need I say more?

I recently bought the GBE 1200. This thing is super versatile and powerful. It most certainly is the last amp I will ever buy. All the power and the ability to change tones and scoop the EQ right on the foot pedal. Its amazing!

The absolute best sounding head I have ever owned, and I've owned them all. Excellent customer service, too. A few come close, but none sound as fine. Plenty of super clean power, coupled with the best sounding pre-amp I've ever heard.

I test drove a GBE600 at a friend's music store and loved the tone....and at the same time...registered with Genz Benz to win my ultimate bass rig. Guess what....I won! The GBE1200 and 2 410 cabs were given to me and have been my main rig ever since. Had the gear since 2005 and has never failed to amaze! Great gear from Genz!

I will admit that when I saw this head I was skeptical, almost to good to be true, but after a bad experience with a SVT-CL I decided to try it out. I quickly saw what everyone was saying. This amp is simply awesome. One turn of the knob and you have one sound turn another and you have a new sound. Best of all it sounds transparent all you hear is the bass not the electronics. Power? Oh ya this thing has it. I have a 8x10 and it has no problem pushing it. I?ve only started playing with this amp but I can defiantly see many years of having it by my side. Totally recommend to anyone, playing any style.

I have owned this for more than a year now, no problems. The power is fantastic! The ability to use the Solid State pre-amp or the Tube pre-amp in the same head is awesome. The fact that you can blend the two is priceless!!!! Everyone seems to be going to the little Micro Heads now, although the new Genz Benz Shuttles are "best in class", they can't do what this one does........Sometimes size DOES matter!

I had a chance to play through this amp and a neox 610 cab. It was earth shattering tone and the thing is built like a TANK. A little pricey but well worth it. I'm definitely saving for a Genz Benz rig!
