The Genz-Benz Shen pro LT is an acoustic guitar amp that offers a Class D amplifier module included with the 12AX7 tube preamp and Genz-Benz's heralded 3-band Active EQ with variable mid range control. This combination enhances your acoustic guitar's timbre with the tonal characteristics, warmth and compression of the tube but without distortion when driven hard. This innovation is combined in the Shen Pro LT with a highly efficient and lightweight 300W neodymium 12" loudspeaker, chosen for its articulate full-bodied response and unique tonal characteristics.
The power amp platform is Genz-Benz's high-current 300W Class D amplifier that provides tremendous headroom for full-bodied, clean tone. It's also the foundation for the high-level output of this professional acoustic tool. The Shen Pro LT amp's cabinet is strong, yet lightweight and constructed from sustainable plywood and Baltic birch. The cabinet is rear ported and uses a bottom-mounted tilt-back stand that will angle the amp up towards you while you play. Along with the tube preamp, the Shen Pro LT acoustic amplifier offers 2 identical channels, each with an XLR and 1/4" input, 3-band EQ with sweepable mid-range and a separate digital effects processor for each channel. Each DSP offers 15 studio quality programs for complete flexibility.

I have owned several acoustic amplifiers over the years. This one by far has been the most impressive. I've had mine now for just over a year, and I'm still thrilled with its performance. The built in effects are quality, and really provide for some tonal diversity. Only one thing I would ask for...please Genz Benz, give me the option to change volume for each input, as opposed to each channel.

I like this amp a lot, but my big complaint is that the guitar and mic volumes can't be controlled separately on each channel. For me, this means that my mic is always way louder than the guitar. If I turn the mic down to an acceptable level, then the guitar is too low. The solution, of course, is to plug the mic into one channel and the guitar into the other so that I can have separate control. That will be okay until I want a second person to plug in.

"Acoustic amplifier" has always been an oxymoron for me, never a match for the instrument, always the illegitimate cousin of our electric brethren. So "epiphany" is the closest word I know to describe the first time I plugged my dreadnought into this amp. No squelches, no mud, , no coloration, no feedback--just the pure sound of an acoustic guitar, but somehow better. Can't say whether it's the combo 12AX7 Tube/FET preamp, the 3-band EQ and sweepable mid, the 300 watt speaker, or other. But I'm now married to this amp like a 60s Strat to a Fender Deluxe. One item for improvement; the dial notches for the effects programs are too close together, making your choice uncertain in live situations, though this is a minor complaint. Many will prefer to use their own effects thought the onboard programs are gorgeous, if limited (e.g., the combo Chorus/Reverb was very nice). Try it once, you'll never give it back--buy it, it's worth every penny.
