Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-8T 300 Watt Lightweight Bass 1x8 Combo:
I love it so much I called Genz Benz within 30 minutes of getting it to tell them so, buy it....you will not be dissapointed!
I've been playing bass for about 33 yrs and have played through a great many amps over that time. I own a Ampeg B-15n, an Eden Nemesis 2x10, an SWR Bass 350 in a rack with outboard gear on top a a SWR 2x10 & 2x12 and since having back surgery I can no longer lift any one of them! So the weight and also the reviews are what prompted my purchase of this little gem! I had played through a GK 200 12" combo and really liked it but I saw this one and read all the reviews inclunding anything I could find on Bass Talk forum. This amp will hold it's own in any venue or situtation I will put it in and not only be loud enough but also sound great doing it. I play primarily 5 string and it still sounds great even with the low B string. I will however add the 10" ext cabinet at some point.
It is one of the most rugged amps I have seen, all aluminum knobs and each pot is detented. Amazing I can pick it up with one finger.

I have just given into the urge to play bass again after 25 years. I agonized for weeks over the choice of equipment. I needed something small, and believe me there were a lot of candidates, but I wanteded to maximize the punch of the American Fender Jazz bass that I was lucky enough to find at a reasonable price. I read the reviews, which were the primary driver in my decision making, took a deep breath and bought the shuttle 3.0-8T. Bear in mind my bench mark was the sound and power of my old amp,a 63 Fender Bassman with 12" JBL's. This little package stands head to head with what I remember of the trusty Bassman at a fraction of the weight! I was astounded at the fidelity and power of this little package in fact my wife thought that it was a toy when I unpackaged it. I was simply impressed at the versatility of the head itself. I could practice (trying to find chops that were long since lost)with my TASCAM bass trainer either with or without headphones. I can plug in additional speakers, I can line out if necessary. I'm happy with my choice. One comment about the Genz-Benz company: I wanted a carrying case for the 8T that no one seemed to carry so I contacted the factory by e-mail and and Gary Benz called me personally to take care of my neeeds. Thats world class follow up.
Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-8T 300 Watt Lightweight Bass 1x8 Combo:
I bought this as a portable rig for church gigs and band practice but after using at a full band gig (country, classic rock) I sold my Demeter/Stewart rig and use this exclusively. At larger band gigs I couple it with my SWR Goliath with this pointing at me and my drummer and the SWR forward. This box does it all with amazing fat tube tone, great tone shaping flexibility and features. At practice I plug my iPod into the aux to play sones as we learn them. At home, I do the same but with headphones in so I'm the only one hearing me stumble through a Jaco tune. It holds it's own against the lowest meanest notes I throw at it and comes back for more. After years of searching, this is the holy grail of "working class" amps. Lightweight enough to carry into a gig with a bass on our back in one trip. The only reason quality takes a hit is the internal speaker cord seems odd coming out of the top of the cabinet making a low radiou bend that I think will damage the cable over the long haul. The blue lights are also really cool.
Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-8T 300 Watt Lightweight Bass 1x8 Combo:
I?ve been playing professionally for over 30 years now. I am an Ampeg man from way back, but I have to say something about this tiny thing! I happened up on a music store in the Florida panhandle the other day, played thru one of these little things, and was blown away! However, there was a 10-inch extension cabinet sitting under the 8-inch cab, but HOLY CRAP! This little thing was utterly awesome. I see no reason that anyone would not want one of these things for club work. Hell, this thing could even handle bigger gigs if needed ?it does have a bal line out?. The sound is crystal clear, and has an the punch you would expect from something a lot bigger. Considering weight, sound quality, and the cool factor?. I would have to say Genz Benz is way out in front with this amp.
