For the meanest metal imaginable!
Levels of grinding gain and singing sustain previously unattainable without the use of powerful tube amps at high volume. Hybrid tube/solid state distortion circuitry gets it all, from subtle overdrive to extreme saturation worthy of the blackest metal. 3-band equalization with a parametric mid to cover the sweet spot between 200-5kHz allows for a range of brutal tones, including the scooped mid sound of Metallica or Pantera. Where other distortions aren't enough, this kills. Includes power supply.

I love hard rock and classic metal and I've bought a ton of very good and expensive pedals. I love my Radial hot British, London Bones, and my Blackstar DIST X but this pedal eats their lunch. Most amp in a box pedals sound good but lack the punch of a cranked amp. The MM X has that power. The sweepable midrange is very effective. Every pedal should have one. You can dial in a very fat, even metal tone that sounds huge. Believe the reviews here. The best distortion pedals have tubes. This is the only pedal I'd consider having two of. Just get one and kick butt
- Was this a gift?:
This pedal is a grinding metal masterpiece. I heard demos of this thing, and I said, "every other distortion on my pedalboard is history..."The great thing about the MM-X is the tube. Let that thing heat up for ten minutes while playing, then you get amazing harmonics and sustain. The gain doesn't need to be all the way to be extreme saturation either, but when I cranked it, the gain proceeded to put every pedal and effects box I own to shame.Sure that price is a bit high, but when you hear the MM-X burning with rage, you'll understand. Construction is solid enough, metal pedal, tube protected by a grate, smooth-turning knobs and a decent on/off switch. If you want brutality and the warmth of tubes, consider the MM-X Metal Monster.
The pedal has a great sound. The mid scoop controls can let you get any tone from ac/dc to heavy death metal. The plastic input jacks scare me a little bit because I have a Russian muff and the jacks on that have broken a couple times, and I mean if I'm dropping this much cash on a pedal I want it to be durable, but other than that no problems after 3 months of use.
Ok, I didn't need another distortion pedal, I only own 6 other heavy metal stomp boxes. But one day I decided to see what else was out there, and ran in to this beast. Not even wanting to purchase it right on the spot my girlfriend says hey how about that for a b-day present, sweet. Upon getting it I plug it in thinking I'm going to end up with some other sound alike metal pedal, I sit in awe. This thing really does what I've only dreamed about. Super awesome tone for just about everything I threw into it. And the whole noisieness some people were talking about I still havent found. Anyway great pedal with mega tone and definition.
I own a Boss Metal Zone foot pedal and let me say that Metal Monster takes the whole cake for Heavy Metal or Death Metal. Its loud and the tube makes the distortion clear and heavy. My equipment is horrible, but the pedal makes it up! If you have EMG-81s or the best Seymore Duncons pickups, your guitar will have an extra crunch of metal! I will soon get EMG-81s for heavyer sound, (as thought it isn't heavy enough with my ok Warlock and ok Crate amp). great price for the pedal. This product is a must have for Metal Heads!!
i got this pedal last march and i must say that it has got to be the best distortion pedal i have ever played through. i also have a boss mega distortion, which is great, but the metal monster has something extra. it sounds great through my ibanez gax 70 with duncan dimebucker and invader through my ibanez halfstack.
its everything i need and want in a distortion pedal
I found that if I turn the gain down to 0 I get hard hitting distortion that doesn't mesh together
I really liked the pedal...I have a lot of very high end heads and this gets a quality tone and is pretty versatile as well...It has a quality tone in all the spectrums and doesn't sound thin or digitized. I am confident that if you like a thick, rich, heavy sound, you will be pleased with this product. It is a bit noisy however if you are using a high gain amp, you should have some type of a hush or gate anyway...if you do not, I strongly suggest the decimator by ISP technologies.
All I can say is that this pedal puts out the best sounding distortion I've ever heard and I had tried them all.About twice as much as a Boss metalzone which I have always liked but this has a much more quality distortion.I've been playing for about 15 yrs. and have always played heavy metal, thrash & death metal.I run the distortion wide open. You will need a hush unit with this, but when you hear the sound this thing puts out you won't care about having to purchase one.Spend the xtra cash and let it rip.
