Comments about Hao OD-16 Omega Drive Sixteen Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:
This thing does it all, and if you like the ability to eliminate the pedals tone for your own, then this works very well. It will give you all things clean, boost, blues, rock, hi gain. If you need more gain for your rig and also want the option to have an od later, this is it. If you need a little more volume for most songs and an od at other times this is it. If you play a lot of lead or want blues sounding pedals, this is it.
Just decide what you want. Then get this bad boy.
This is a very good pedal. The features are basically Volume, Gain, Tone. There is also a mini switch to turn the tone on and off. When the tone is off there is a dramatic boost in output signal. This is very much like the big muff pi tone wicker. When the tone is on the volume drops and when it is off the volume boosts. The only problem I have with the pedal is that the tone does not have a bright treble setting. That is to say it stays bassy and dark. Which is good, but I prefer it without the tone, because sometimes it seems too deep.
This thing works well as a boost. It is almost a combination of their other pedals. It will do the boosting like the Rust Booster, especially if you turn off the tone knob. It works similarly to the Sole Pressure if you use the tone and keep the gain no higher than 3 o clock.
Then if you want either the Rumble mod or the Rust Driver you can crank it to full blast. Again you dont have all the treble as in the Rumble Mod but you can get a higher gain sound for the tone than possible with the Rumble.
You cannot top the quality of this pedal. It uses real 1/4" jacks and has a nice populated circuitboard. It is not handwired in the respect of point to point, but handwired with a custom made circuit board. It is NOT a robot made pedal from china, far from it. This pedal has quality that I feel is better than most of the big names out there (Fulltone, Lovepedal, Catalinbread, Wampler). To me this fits right in the Keeley range.
The value is the hardest to judge here. It is a great pedal. Amazing. But is it worth the 260.00 price tag? It all depends, it sustains like an OD pedal with a compressor but without one. It stays quiet even in high gain settings, and even works well clean. Like I said the only problem is that you cannot get a treble boost, so in that respect it works well for a bluesy or lead applications. For rhythm it can be a bit inarticulate, but not bad.
I use it with a handful of other OD's (Lovepedal Kanji 9, Wampler Ecstasy, Keeley Luna Overdrive). These are an unbeatable combo, The OD-16 works well in the first slot as a gain knob for the others, or a nice blues/lead pedal for the other times.
