OVERVIEW

A staple for the contemporary bass industry with advanced features and a stylish aesthetic.

With 250 watts of available power, the HA Series HA2500 250 Watt Bass Amp Head will drive your small to mid-sized bass rig with incredible clarity and punch. In addition, the HA2500 offers a number of advanced features, including front panel compression and ten bands of graphic equalization, allowing you to create a broad range of tonal colors.

A dedicated in/out button even allows you to preset an equalization curve. Two fully adjustable contour knobs (high pass and low pass) also provide further control for shaping your bass sound. Effects send and return jacks let you connect to professional outboard effects processors and an effect balance knob enables you to adjust the relative amount of send ("dry") versus return ("wet") effect signal being routed to the speaker outputs. Protection relay circuitry also protects connected speakers from dangerous overloading and also prevents "thumps" when powering on or off.

The Hartke silver-face chassis adds a clean, stylish aesthetic to any rig and rugged construction makes the HA2500 eminently roadworthy. Plus, with advanced preamp features, this amp is as ideal for studio work as it is for live performances.

Comments about Hartke HA Series HA2500 250 Watt Bass Amp Head:

I purchased this to replac an older Hartke that was seeing it's final days. This was for my gig rig. I also have another Hartke stack in my home studio. I am a Hartke fan and have used my Hartke bass head to even run a small DJ gig when our mixer went out.

Comments about Hartke HA Series HA2500 250 Watt Bass Amp Head:

If you need something cheap and loud this is the amp for you. If you actually care about tone then stay far away. The reason there are so many different ways to shape your tone is because Hartke couldn't get the thing to sound good so they figured, hey, maybe you can!

It's loud so if you want a cheap backup incase your nice(r) one fails pick up one of these. I've had mine for about six years and have had no issues besides the lousy tone.

I should probably mention I play 70's re-issue Fender Jazz and a Rickenbacker 4003 so I know my bass is not the problem.

Comments about Hartke HA Series HA2500 250 Watt Bass Amp Head:

I bought this bass amp head a few months ago. I have it running through a David Eden EX-410, 4 ohm cabinet. I can turn the volume to "2", and it shakes the walls. I have only turned it up to "4", and it overpowers the rest of the band including our lead guitarist who plays as loud as they come. The great thing about it is that it sounds great even when everyone runs and hides for cover!

I can't answer your questions about the quality, since it was for my son, and he has to get some speakers before he can use it, but it was the first step toward being amplified. I would say he's an experienced player.

        tough and loud

Comments about Hartke HA Series HA2500 250 Watt Bass Amp Head:

The Hartke 2500 is a gutsy 250-watt amp (175 watts at 8 ohms, 250 watts at 4 ohms) with an array of features, some of which are more helpful than others.

The two preamp settings are designed to emulate either a tube-amp sound or a solid-state sound. These can be turned up individually or in combination, and a combination sounds best; the tube sound, alone, is kind of flabby, and the solid-state sound, alone, is harsh. A useful and punchy combination is possible by going half and half.

The EQ array is impressive and workable. I play a jazz bass through a Schroeder 2x10 for a jazz trio, and my best sound is no EQ at all. The Hartke's EQ will definitely boost the frequencies, but the boosting produces a hard sound. Of course, this will please some players. In my opinion, this is a rock player's amp. (I bought it because of the good price.)

Other features are 'high cut' and 'low cut' knobs. What 'cut' means is that you can dial back the lows and highs, or dial them up, on the fly. If you are not using the EQ (which has an on-off button), these buttons are a useful feature, and they work.

Compression dial 1 to 10; inputs for active and passive basses; ground lift switch; 1/4" phone jacks to speakers; effects in and out; master volume. Fan is continuous and quiet.

I get stunning, thunderous lows through this amp and the Schroeder cab; the mids are a little thin by comparison, and if I EQ them, the total sound, as I said, gets hard and a bit brittle. I get my bigger tone, but the quality goes down. My best compromise is leaving the EQ off and coaxing solid mids out with the instrument output level. (And playing a little harder in the mids.) I should add my bass is a Squier with DiMarzio jazz pickups. Will your results vary? Probably, but probably not a lot.

Overall, this amp is a great value, built like a tank and very well constructed. The only problem I've had in two years was a dried out solder connection, which was easily (and inexpensively) repaired.
