This is a dream unit in regards to programming, customizing and experimenting. With nothing but a start up guide, I was able to navigate everything.....Sound creations, Button programming, color choices, locations....unbelievable in every way.

Sound !! The biggy. So far, I've had amazing success at sound creation at home, Sometimes using an amps front end, sometimes through the effect loop return which I feel may be best to get the purest sound from the unit.

I took the unit to a studio for rehearsal the other day where I could turn things up some and I realized I had some work to do, the overall sound was okay, nothing amazing, but the single note clarity in my distortion setting was terrible within a four piece band mix, very hard to pick out nuances in the strumming and single note runs. I was kind of disappointed, but It may be my fault and need to do some tweaking.

That all said, I love this unit and I think it has amazing abilities and prospects for future use. I've only owned it for a week. I have never kept a multi-effects unit thus far. I sent back every L6 I bought to include Helix. I will keep this forever, and look forward someday to the next edition if the company stays on this track, Nice job HeadRush.

The pros:
Great interface
Great foot control of parameters
No restrictions with effect placements
Very powerful cpu (I tried maxing it by doing two models then also engaging 2x for each amp and filling all FX slots no problem!)
Very flexible pedal assignments and scribble strips
IR loading
Super easy PC backup and transfer
Etc - you all know the rest

The cons:
Amp modeling still sounds somewhat outdated and digital.
Larger than most other pedalboards
Heavier than most pedalboards
Less effects available than most pedal boards
Priced a bit high for the amount of effects and modeling quality - but touch screens are gonna cost more obviously
Many effects have less parameters to adjust than on comparable units
No amp channel switching without a midi-amp switchbox

Overall it's a great unit and a huge step in the right direction, one I think many will copy going forward. But I bought it cause I want a modeler upgrade from my POD HD and my POD HD still beats it. I owned a triple rec for years and the POD HD patch I made is really close but still not fully there, but it still beats the Headrush which no matter what I did has this digital clipping kind of sound. No I wasn't going in too hot, guitar direct in and I lowered the input gain to test anyhow. Tried IR's, not an improvement at all - the Headrush cabs actually did a better job than the few Celestion IR's I tried. But that digital sound is in the amp model.

HeadRush Pedal Board "nothing like the youtube clips"

By DDM

from ONTARIO

Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

I was so disappointed in how poorly this unit played. The overdrive and distortion presets were so irritatingly harsh and granular. There ought to be a law to prevent advertisements that don't display the true sounds a piece of expensive gear will provide. There is more to music than full out metal and this is the only thing this unit might be good for. Send the manufactures a message. No multi effect should be more than 900.00 and at that price they should be so remarkably smooth sounding as to be a pleasure to own. Simply rushing to market based on a colour display wont do.

Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

I've owned the avid 11r for a few years and the sounds from the headrush sound very similar, if not exactly like the 11r. At the time the 11r sounded really good, but when comparing to the helix/ax8 the age is more a factor.

    Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

The one star review on here needs a rebuttal from someone who actually owns a Headrush pedalboard.

This sounds awesome ....way better than the 11rack did due to the re-working of the math (algorithms) and the quad core proc.
This feels like you are playing through a real amp unlike the line 6 stuff I have used and own.

I am a prof. soundman and this sounds great!
Of course you will need to build your own rigs to get the sound you want and most of the built-in presets need tweaking to get to where you want them but that is the fun of it and the touchscreen makes it easy to do as well.
There have already been 2 updates allowing the use of more IR's simultaneously ( I use 3 in one of my stereo rigs) as well as uploading your own cool lock-screen image, etc.

This box leaves very little to be desired....it's all there...

    Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

Received this thing today! Been watching a few videos on u-tube on item for several weeks. Touch screen is very easy to use. Options are pretty much limitless. All that stuff doesn't matter if it has bad sound. This unit sounds and feels great. Playing it through 2- tech 21 power engines, the sound is excellent. I own several tube amps, pod hd500x, yamaha thr100dual and countless other amps and pedals. I will be playing the headrush for a while. The yamaha is the 1st digital product to sound and feel like tube amps to me. The headrush is every bit as good with 30 plus amp sims. If you are like me and love experimenting with tons of amps, pedals, reverbs ect. Buy this thing now. I can't get over how much this sounds and feels tube like. I have never played a fractal or the helix but I have to believe the headrush is every bit as good and more then likely better. Now I must jam

      Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

This thing is much easier to use and much more versatile than the Kempler or AXE modelers...especially during live or studio performance... It doesn't have the depth of tweakability of the Kempler or AXE...but you can make up for it by learning to create your own custom Impulse responses (IRs)... I absolutely hated the interfaces, menu diving, learning curve, and all the unnecessary parameters of the Kempler and AXE... The Headrush did away with all of that... I am using it as a sound control center off the ground right next to me as I play comfortably on my sofa... I have all my Strymon pedals set up on the Headrush's FX loop with a midi foot switch contolling the different combination presets that I created... I'm loving how fast and easy it's allowing me to create on the fly...

        Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

I've owned an 11 Rack for several years and always loved the sound quality of the unit. The HeadRush takes all that and makes significant improvements. I A/B'd the HeadRush against the 11R and yes, they are similar but there are definite improvements to the sound with the amp models sounding more natural without the need for added EQ. The dynamic response is also improved allowing very expressive picking responses to shine through and backing off the guitar volume cleans up all but the most high gain amp models very well.
Editing is where the HeadRush really shines through - everything is quick, intuitive and fun! The immediate results from dragging and dropping modules to different positions without having to enter menus or dive into computer editing programs has to be experienced to realise how much better this system is. Hands-free editing is a breeze and makes on-stage tweaks simple and quick.
The ability to import 3rd party IR's allows even more control over your end tone as speaker cabinet modelling is just as important as the quality of the amp & effect models.
The unit is built like a tank and reasonably large so it is heavy but you forget all that when you see that magnificent 7" touch screen!
Overall, a significant improvement in all areas to the already capable 11R and a unit I would wholeheartedly recommend.

My son is a guitar player as professional musicians
We like the best and quality equipment, and this pedal board I perfect
Sometimes we play in two or three different Venus and we have to move quick
So I can say this perfect. Not bunch of cables around the case
One plug and play the pop or rock or cumbia.
great quality sound. Ready to operate.
Thanks headrush for this great product.

It just keeps getting better! I am so pleased with this thing, the sound and ease of operation is incredible. I was bummed that it didn't have an envelope filter, but that was solved by putting my Proton in the effects loop and moving its position in the chain to where it sounds best for me. Building and editing rigs is so easy it's fun and addictive. I've just had it a couple of weeks and I've been able dial in sounds that I could not get otherwise. I can hardly believe how great it sounds through my Blues jr., incredible! I read many reviews and wanted to give my opinion, as well. So there you have it. Headrush - mind blowing!

              Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

I ordered this expecting to send it right back - but I was surprised. I've had every MFX there is. I actually loved the touchscreen. The buttons to the side work great - with the Helix for example on the bottom I can't see the numbers because my hands are in the way. I love the effect presets - you can get something called up already dialed in for a Tube Screamer for example and it gives you a great starting point. This units shining feature is how the amps interact with the volume control - it kills everything else on the market. The eleven rack was like this too so no surprises there. The sound is really good - a little thin - but I'm sure with some tweaking could be great. The presets - don't even waste your time. Where it falls short for now - is stability. Mine rebooted several times when deleting rigs - not good. That made me not want to try and use it live for now. One other thing I'd like to see is more color choices available for effects on the board - there aren't many. It seems like you have a lot of green or shades of green - need more especially that certain buttons are green by default and stuck that way. It will be interesting to see where this one goes - I was certainly impressed.

                    Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

I started playing a long time ago. The first multi effect I bought was a roland GP8 and at the time it was awsome in fact I still have 2 of them. I I bought an ADA preamp, a couple of Rockman units, a GP16, I bought a Line6 Pod2, a couple of line 6 products (Line 6 always disappointed me), a behringer vamp pro that I still like, so many floor pedals and amps I can't list them all. I've tried and used a lot of pedal boards and the HeadRush is by far the easiest, quickest and best sounding pedal board amp modeler I've ever used. If it holds up with use It may go down as the best ever. I'll even bet that a lot of competitors are redesigning their product right now because this HeadRush has changed all the rules.

I've owned Kemper, Ax2, ax-8 and helix. Honestly they all have great features. For me Headrush delivers the best usability with the ability to get good results. I just find myself enjoying it more than the others.

I do use OwnHammer IRs as the stock cabs seem a bit dated to me.

Nice Versility. Youll need 3rd Party IRs for metal.

The best interface period. I was hoping for AXE-Fx sound quality with intuitive interface. I have a Kemper and sound quality is not even in same country with stock IRs. It sounds exactly like a POD HD 500 with stock IRs. I imported quality IR (impulse responses) and major improvement. Still no Kemper but getting closer. I wish I could import different amp models as well. It does have a huge advantage of being tweakable on the fly. You can adapt your sound fairly quickly depending on the venue. Pluging into PA, amp return, or studio, you can adjust cabinet, eq, pedals with swipe of screen. 3 stars without imported IRs

Nice unit, I like it a lot. But since I use these things purely for effects only, the pre amps don't really matter to me usually. I play in a band and prefer to play through my amp. I have a Marshall JVM215C combo which has a lot of superb tones onboard. All of which not even the very best modeller comes even close to the sound of any of them. If you want it for recording or playing onto a PA, then this is where it will come into its own as it has a nice set of pre amps. Would it make you sell your Marshall or Mesa..??....no it wont, but it will let you get some huge tones at low volumes and in the studio. I use multi effects for effects only. Much tidier than a messy pedalboard, and it looks great on stage too. I am sure Boss will come out with their own version of this soon.

                      Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

I use this primarily for live and studio applications. This unit is very well built, there are some very good features that I have not seen in any similar devices that make this piece stand out: It has an excellent touch panel interface that is very intuitive, it has illuminated "scribble strips" that dynamically change with program material. It is versatile in the way(s) that it can be configured/ hooked up and used. One con that I discovered is that you cannot place any of the onboard effects into the effects loop of the unit. If this is not critical to you than this is a super multi-effect pedalboard worth your consideration.

                          Comments about HeadRush Multi-Effects Pedalboard:

This unit is amazing. It is extremely versatile, very easy to use, and extremely configurable. The factory provided rigs are OK, with a preponderance of distortion rigs that overwhelm everything and just a few clean rigs whose tone I like. There are a handful of rigs that I use out-of-the-box, but the real usefulness comes in making your own rigs, which is extremely easy and configurable. You can select from a wide range of amp and cabinet/mic models, but I often want the sound of my own amps so I have created some rigs that don't have any amp or cabinet in them, simply the stomp box effects, and they work great with my amps. This thing is rugged and built like a tank so I anticipate that it will last. The effects themselves are pretty well designed, for the most part, although the documentation is lacking regarding the effects and their parameters - you just have to put the effect in your rig, tweak the parameters and see how it sounds, which is quite easy to do. Some of the effects are a mystery to me (e.g. figuring out how to get a useful tone from the harmonizer or the octaver), but most of the effects are easy to understand and use. It helps if you know the history of pedals, since this unit assumes that you will be able to associate the name HeadRush has given an effect on this unit with its counterpart in the pedal world. Assigning stomp button positions to effects in your rig is a snap, and the hands-free mode actually works as advertised. All-in-all this thing does what it says and does it very well. It is fairly expensive, but I waited for a sale and got a pretty good deal from MF. If you are looking for a tone in which the effects play a supporting part, this is a great unit.

Came in a sturdy package with no damage whatsoever despite a shipping weight of nearly 25 lbs.
