Comments about Hughes & Kettner CC412 A3 280W 4x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:
I had been skeptical, as to whether this cab was really worth the price it costs. But when a deal came my way, I decided to go for it. I was not dissappointed! I own JCM900 and 800 cabs, as well as old Randells, and Peaveys. This is my first German cab, but will not be my last. The combination, of the wood and speakers produced a completely diifferent tone than my old Marshall cabs, not better, but different, in a good way. I A/B'd between my favorite JCM900 A cab, and the Hughes Kettner, with a Hughes Kettner Switchblade, Engl Powerball 2, and Marshall JVM410 head(s). The speaker different is obvious between the Celestion GT75's and the Vintage 30's in the H&K Custom cab. Without changing any EQ settings on the heads, it was amazing how different the mids were contoured, but the mind blowing factor, was the lows! The H&K CC instantly brought frequencies out of all three heads , in the low mid-range area, that are a bit muddled in the Marshall cab. I experimented with clean and overdriven sounds, from each head, just to see what the characteristics would be, this was done at stage volume, and rehearsal volume to get a "feel" of strengths and weaknesses. After a couple of weeks of driving my tech crazy, the bottom line, for me was, that the Hughes Kettner cab gave me a better all-round tone, or it was closer to what I was hearing in my head, with less tweaking...It is brighter than my Marshall, but control-able. The Marshall has the rich singing lead tone, but is a little "loose" sounding compared to the H&K...My only fault with this cab, is in a couple of design areas. 1 - Why the cheesy small casters(they should be a little better), and the tolex is very thin. That may lend to the overall tone of the cab, so, not trying to be too nitpicky, but for the $$$, it would be nice if it were a little more durable.. The wood construction is excellent, the cab now has about 75 hours playing time on it, at stage volume, and it still sounds amazing to me! Gotta agree with the other reviews I've read. This cab is an awesome addition to any head, and you should not be dissappointed!

Perfect cab. It is expensive, but if you can get your hands on one, do. I use it with both my H&K switchblade and warp x (both amazing amps). The highs sing, the lows punch you in the gut. Highest quality. I run my charvel USA tele through the two amps, and every note comes through the 30's perfectly.

This cabinet is a must have for any H&K amp. It improves the sound of the amp so much compared to any other brand. I've played my Hughes & Kettner Triamp through a Marshall cab and I hated it. I've heard that the Marshall cabs are supposed to break up a little at certain volumes. So if you want a smooth sound and the speakers uneffected then get this.
