This is a primo cabinet with a really good sound, made out of good materials. However, better options exist.Consider you can get an Avatar cabinet with the same Celestion Greenbacks, made out of birch plywood, for one third of the price. To me, it is a no-brainer.
I use this cab with my H&K Trilogy head and my original Attax 200 head (from the combo unit). People drop thier jaws when I go from a heavy and mean gain to an ultra clean sound. The only effects I use on my distortion is BBE's Sonic Stomp, and a delay, and for clean I use Visual Sound's H20 (Chorus & Delay), along with the sonic stomp. I choose H&K since I am ultra picky about having a superior clean sound, yet an ultra nasty distortion with my drop tuning.
Do NOT confuse these Hughes & Kettner "CC" (Custom Cabinet) 412(A&B) models, with the lower end Hughes & Kettner "VC" (Vintage Cabinet) models. These "CC" cabinets are made with 13 ply, kiln-dried birch, with dovetail joints. The "VC" cabinets are contructed using plywood and particle board! The "CC" models are double the price for good reasons!!The highest quality construction techniques & materials are used in the "CC" models, along with being loaded with four 12" Celestian Greenbacks?.I purchased both "A" (angled grille) and "B" (flat grille) models of the "CC" cabiniets. Since I own both amps, I run them with either a Hughes & Kettner 100 watt Switchblade head - OR - the 100 watt, 2 x 12" Switchblade combo. These cabinets are far superior in sound to the less expensive, "standard" 4x12 cabinets out there. ABSOLUTELY worth the price!!
