The innovative Balance knob matches the high-quality spring reverb to each channel. As on classic tube amps, the 3-band EQ knobs for each channel influence one another, especially Mid and Treble. This has the best gain control of any amp I've used. You can adjust from a little bit to tons without touching the volume control. It never gets muddy even at high gain there is great definition. My new favorite amp.

The statesman is H&K's attempt at blending american (Fender) and british (Marshall) tones. I think the gain channel meets and exceeds the british tones. The clean channel is nice but not exactly american-like, although it is very good.
Love this amp. The gain channel can get to a nice overdriven sound. Click on the boost button and it's over the top. And you can get most sounds in between.

Hughes and Kettner make some awesome amps, however, I felt this one was a little lacking. This amp really shines on the clean channel. It sparkles, yet, is still extremely warm. I played with a Fender Tele Custom, and even with how bright my guitar is, this amp warmed it up. The overdrive channel just didn't have enough...grit to satisfy my gain needs. I tend to like really razory and sharp gain, which is why I sold it and returned to Peavey. If you like a fatter tone with not as much bite...this or an Egnater are the way to go, it just wasn't my specific flavor.
This amp has a lot of great features to it. The boost and the twang switch are definitely pretty cool. I wish the twang would add more overdrive, but it's more or less just a bright switch.
This is an amazingly well built amp. The aesthetics of this amp are what drew me to it in the first place, I love the tweed and throwback look to it.
For what you pay, not bad at all.

This amp sounds like one that costs three times as much. The clean channel is perfect for pedals and the distortion channel sounds very natural - nothing artificial.

A great amplifier that is made in Germany. Hands down the best value in a 50 watt EL34 around. The factory tube are not harsh when compared to most newer amps. You will not regret buying this amplfier as it sounds great clean or dirty.

Well, I've had the half stack for about two months now and I am still really impressed everytime I turn it on. The clean channel is amazing, and stays clean until you push the volume to about 1 O'Clock or so. Still, I only run it at about 9-10 O'Clock and with my Tele and Strat, this thing sounds amazing. Exactly what I read this amp would do.The OD channel is really nice too, with a boost and volume boost via the 3-button footswitch. I find that the volume boost emphasizes the great tone of this amp. She really opens up.Features are lacking only because if you compare it to other H&K amps, this one has only two channels. None the less, you can coax these channels to sound great with country, california surf style, classic rock, and even some hard rock. With humbuckers in your guitar, to me this thing sounds just as good as a Marshall with double the tubes. If not a better! *But the clean channel I would say is WAY better.Great bang for the buck. Sounds great as soon as you turn it on, and after it's been on for a few hours, it's real nice.Vintage vibe, classic sounds, modern twist.Love it. Thanks H&K!
