OVERVIEW

Amazing TubeMeister versatility with limited-edition vintage Russian EL84s.

This limited-edition 30th-anniversary Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 18W head packs all the phenomenal range and clarity of the TubeMeister circuitry, and now includes a secret weapon: vintage Russian military-grade EL84 tubes that deliver higher output than standard versions found elsewhere. The Sovtek tubes were unearthed after being in storage for more than 30 years, and now they'e ready to take your tone to the next level in an already-awesome amp.

Manufactured in the legendary Saratov factories, the tubes comply with military-grade specifications for the aircraft industry (highest reliability, strictest tolerances), built to last for a lifetime with a consistent quality and power. They deliver noticeable more output than standard EL84s, what results in more headroom for clean tones and even more punch for overdrive sounds.

And, these highly collectable models also feature a special 30th-anniversary logo on the faceplate.

For the TubeMeister 18W, Mr. Hughes and Herr Kettner packed all their know-how and over a quarter of a century's passion for tube amps into a remarkably compact chassis. Thanks to German engineering, it can go from a roar to a whisper, shaking the boards on stage, tingling spines in the studio, and raising goose-bumps in the still of night”even during silent recording.

Serving up three different sounds at the touch of a footswitch, the soulful Tube-Meister 18 is the go-to guitar amp for gigging. Its four-step power soak brings the sound of the big stage into small clubs and your own four walls. And courtesy of the built-in Red Box and silent recording capability, you can lay down pro-quality tracks at any time day or night.

Includes free FS2 Footswitch and padded bag with strap.

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TM18H Anniversary TubeMeister Tube Guitar Head with FREE FS2 Footswitch and Padded Bag:

I researched for almost 6 months for a tube amp that would fit my needs and ultimately decided on the HK18 after seeing it demoed at a local guitar show. I knew I wanted the 30th anniversary edition because of the Russian tubes and it has not disappointed. This amp plays outstanding cleans but will get dirty on the lead channel. I am also running a Keeley Red Dirt pedal through it and it works great as well. Hopefully one day I will be able to really get the most out of this amp as I only have a year of practice under my belt at this time. MF delivered the amp without a hitch.

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TM18H Anniversary TubeMeister Tube Guitar Head with FREE FS2 Footswitch and Padded Bag:

I received this and the foot switch did not work properly. One call and customer service made me very happy. New switch on the way. No fuss. No muss. So 5 stars for that
On to the amp. My first tube amp and I am kicking myself for wasting years not doing this before. My first band rehearsal with it and my band mates where blown away by the sound. The other guitarist plays through a Mesa, another great sounding amp, and my Tubemeister kept up right along with him using the 5 watt setting. When we gig I will use the 18 watt setting. The power soak is great for at home practice, recording. I ran the RED Box through my PA with the speaker off and was very happy.
The boost setting can be a bit much so you do have to be careful when to kick it in. I am using a volume pedal anyway so that is working well for me even without the boost. Clean tone is fantastic especially with the gain at about 2 or 3 o'clock to add a but of dirt on more aggresive picking. Dirty tones are great but as I said the boost can be a bit over the top.
I am playing through a spare 1x12 cabinet that I had but will purchase the matching cabinet when funds allow.
This head is a great buy. Lots of tone and bang for the buck. Loud enough for gigs in bars and the RED Box sounds good through the PA. Would recommend to anyone.
