Only the aforementioned cosmetic damage brought this amp down to a 9. The owners manual was still sealed in it's original package. I suspect that it was damaged in shipping to the retailer and that is why I got a discount! This amp rocks!
After a 12 year absense from live performance and 20 years of playing professionaly, I found some guys who are as passionate about music as I am. Unfortunately the only amp I had was a 15 watt practice amp. When I visited your website I came across a fantastic deal on my Ibanez SW80 and decided to make the purchase. It was being offered as used but it only had a few minor cosmetic blemishes and I don't think that it was ever used. The sound is better than any amp I have ever owned including my Marshall and my Hartke. It has enough power to keep up with my lead guitar player's Marshall Mode Four with a half stack! The sound is clean and the features are built right in unlike the old days when you had to buy effects and loop them through your old inadequit amps. We play clascic rock and some country mostly in small venues but if I need to I can line out to the PA which is also built in. At fifty three pounds I don't have to worry about hurting my old bones when I,m carrying it and the tip back feature makes a world of difference in the stage set-up. If you are playing in stadiums or need to hide your lack of talent with extreme volume then get something else, but if you're like me and play in bars and dance halls, this amp will impress you with it's performance.

AT HOME ONLY
I brought an Ibanez 375m bass and love the darn thing. I decided to get a bass amp from the same company after read some of the reviews on the SW80. I used it at home and said to myself, "Wow, this sounds great". I took it to a friends house to practice and said "Wow, this sounds great". Then I played at a service in a gym type setting (about 50 people) and I was completely disappointed! I could hardly hear the amp at all. I also notice the limiter light going on and off. I liked the sound in a small setting but don't expect to Jam in a croud with this! I actually had to shut it off and use a replacement older amp a friend brought along. I tried to get the next model up from this but again to my disappointment they informed me this is as high as they go for this model. I'm returning it for a different Bass Amp. Still don't know which one. The SR80 is strickly a home practice amp in my opinion. It sounds loud...at HOME. Hope this helps you decide.

I've only been playing for three years.
But as a homemade audiophile, I can personally attest to the sound this thing produces.
I want to be clear, however. It is excellent for the price. Obviously, other such as Ashdown or Ampeg, has this beat. But make no mistake...this thing delivers for the price. Sound in itself is subjective to the listener. So do me a favor and don't quote me.
But when you get the chance, you should give this thing a try. If your bass is even decent, this amp will make it great.
Fat, milky low end. Pronounced highs. Handles loud without bloody distortion.
