I have used and still own many, many amps....all the staple brands, historic and otherwise. This amplifier is a great fit amongst the herd. The clean is much cleaner than prior versions, and the Soldano distortion is excellent....everything from warm sustaining blues to "all out" raging distortion/crunch. The only thing on my wish list would have been a nice vintage spring reverb for the chimy cleans(I know, the cost would have to rise).
Other than that, you have an amp that will take any pedal you can throw at it through the clean channel, footswitchable(included)and the crunch/distortion is one of the best.
Many of my amps just don't get this same quality of distortion straight from the amp. The 1-12 and well matched, open back cab size are right on for tone. FX loop allows connection of another set of FX(usually time-based stuff like studio reverb, delays, etc....)., if you're a Loop fan. It can also take them all upfront if that's your style. The only other thing to keep in mind is that they built a solid amp, but skimped on the tubes, using inexpensive Chinese generic tubes that don't bring out the full quality of this amp straight out of the box. I recommend using the stock tubes initially to break-in your speaker, starting slowly, til it's well broken in, and then find a set of tubes to your liking(save the Chinese tubes as spares).....no mods will be needed on this one. The key is in the tube choice, as everything was designed for a quality sound......tubes are a typical swap item anyway for any tube amp to maintain it, so this is the place that Jet City/Soldano chose to save the $$ to keep the cost down, knowing the owner will change tubes at some point anyway....it's economics.
The build quality is great.....I love the amp! Like any amp, there will be personal budgets, taste, name recognition, country of mfg., etc....bottom line is that this is a true contender for the player that has a mid budget and appreciates the sound of this like I do.
I've A/B'd it against some great amplifiers(much more expensive), and it's clean channel is more flexible than many(very clean to blues/rock crunch), only needing a little reverb, etc. to give it some "twang".
The distortion channel actually beats most of my amps....going from blues crunch, to Brit crunch, to some pretty high gain stuff, but staying tight and musical all the way through, with a good set of tubes.
It's 20W and a perfect balance for home, studio, or live....miking at larger venues....and don't forget....you can add, or alter cabinets to your liking.
It's all there, except no Made in USA badge......but that's the way it is today to bring things in on a tight budget. Nice job Mike Soldano.

Was very excited about this two channel tube amp. Was fine that it didn't have reverb but it would be worth paying more to have it integrated. Nice quality build. Decent speaker, probably not the greatest tubes. Great OD tones but lacks a pure clean tone even with master volume maxed and channel gain as low as possible...yes, even on what is referred to as the crunch channel which has less OD. Weird that a two channel amp doesn't allow a pure clean tone...especially for 20 watts. At "cleanest", there was still a fizzy sounding OD regardless of single coil or hum bucking pickups. I run a pedal board in front and need pure cleans...not this amp. Hated to have to send it back...wanted to like it. Outside the fizzy clean tone, with treble at about 2 o'clock, mids about 11 o'clock, and bass at 4 o'clock, presence on 10 o'clock, was a decent as close to Fender tone as this thing would go but the hint of OD was too apparent as the notes or chords sustain. If you want clean, don't go for it. If you want blues to more heavy overdriven tones...this could be for you.

A great soldano design, on a decent board with nice tracings. Trade out the chinese tubes and the amp can sound amazing! I have been a professional player for years and wanted a small combo amp that could scream. This is it! I swapped out the V1 and V2 tubes with a 7025 and a 5751 and it's beautiful. Vintage Marshall.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Saw this as a SDOTD and could not resist. I have the single channel JCA2112RC and it rocks. This amp has the footswitchable channels and that was something I wanted.
I kept the factory tubes in until just a few days ago. Gave it some time for speaker break-in. I switched out the stock Chinese EL84's for Mullards and also changed the V1 to a JJ. Big improvement! Power tube and V1 preamp tube swap highly recommended. I play an old 71 LP deluxe and a Schecter Tempest through this and it's working real good. Crunch channel can get pretty loud without too much dirt, if you keep the gain down. The overdrive channel sings! Hit it with an OD pedal and it sustains for days! For gigging, I'll be adding the extension cab to push more air. Yes, it's gig worthy loud too. I'll be keeping the single channel too.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a great little amplifier. Works perfectly, sounds great & has high quality construction. The tube buffered effects loop & included footswitch for switching channels really can't be beat at this price. Jet City Amplification has every reason to be proud of this product.
The only downside to this purchase was the attitude of the representative who took the order. When informed of the product selection his response was to say "I've never heard of this brand". He went on, in a effort to sell the extended warranty, to say "I wouldn't expect this to last more than three years". Upon learning that the extended warranty would not be purchased, He adopted a superior attitude & acted like we were idiots for buying this item. When you call to place a order it states that calls may be recorded for quality control purposes, I hope that was the case here. I would & have recommended the highly regarded Mike Soldano designed Jet City amps to my musician friends.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I knew what this should sound like from playing an Atomic 16 way back when. I also had the tone of my former Yamaha T-100 in my head. I hadn't plugged into one of these before buying it on the stupid deal of the day. It was exactly how I thought it would sound. It has the same tone as the Yamaha T-100 and it improves on the sound of the Atomic 16. It doesn't have the low end crunch of a Marshall but neither did the T-100. It will be hard to decide which amp to go to, This JCA2212C or My JCM2000 DSL401. Whether you are adding and expanding to your amp collection or can really only afford to keep one amp then get this. This amp isn't going to appeal to pure country pickers or the Uber Metal "scooped out mids" player. But if you play Rock, Classic Rock, Hair Metal, etc... This is your amp!

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

To be fair, it hasn't been in the herd very long at this point & not broken in just yet, so that needs to be kept in mind. I own about 15 amps & have actually owned about 30 in my lifetime. My current faves in the herd are my Little Walter, Carr Rambler, Fuchs ODS30, 71 Fender Deluxe Reverb, Chicago Blues Box, & Quilter Pro200. They're all great & offer something very special - more so than my others. So finding a place in this herd ain't easy.

I like this amp way more than my others not mentioned above. The cleans don't match the warmth of a Fender or the sparkle of the Chicago Blues Box, but they certainly hold their own with any amp near its price range. Crunch actually is much better than others in its price range. If I had a wish list for its design, I'd want it to weigh about 8# or so less and have a reverb knob. That's all it needs. Tone-wise, I look forward to post-breakin notes & expect it to have earned its place by then. It seems very responsive in adjusting for headroom & pouring out overdriven & crunchy sound. Definitely a blues machine & I look forward to jumping thru some jazz hoops before long. I'm not expecting it to match the Little Walter, Fender, or Carr for country cleans; but it also didn't cost even half what they cost. And it will produce more grit & crunch than I can imagine needing.

I'm also concerned that the tubes that come with it are holding some tone back, too. The one thing I'm sure of at this point is that it delivers a lot for it's price. I'm looking at my amps that cost a coupla hundred either side of this one & they can't match it.

I recommend giving one a thorough test drive. With a reverb & a delay pedal, you'd be well set for most any gig.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This thing is awesome. I was looking for a budget amp with decent tone. I got a lot more than that. This thing rips. Super tight tone. Sustain for days. You can use it from the cleanest tones to the heaviest of metal. Loud as hell. You can drive 2 4x12s with this thing without breaking a sweat.

The only issue I had is that the cleans will never be completely clean, as the tubes break up when you crank them. That's fine though. A little bit of grit never hurt anyone.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I was in need of another guitar amp and I bought this on a "stupid deal of the day" sale. That's half price for this amp. I'm the bassplayer in a Florida based rock band, "Lizzie True and The Liars". Lizzie, the singer, also plays guitar along side a lead guitarist that uses a Marshall and some other pretty hefty amps. She's been using a Fender amp until now. She loves her new Jet City amp and can't wait till the next gig to use it again. This amp more than stands it ground next to the lead players various amplifiers. Since I bought it for her, I am very pleased with the amp and the great deal I got. You can get some great tone out of this amp. You can get a nice clean, crisp and smooth sound on the crunch/clean channel or you can throw as much dirt as you want on that channel. There's no need for any pedals to get a good lead sound with the overdrive channel. There's plenty of overdrive and sustain and will give you a nice feedback as well. Although it's rated at 20 watts, that's at 16 ohms. The amp has plenty of power and can run 2 additional cabs. This amp has a very good build quality and stands it ground alongside Fender and Marshall and other amps in it's price range very well. After only 2 weeks I am very pleased with this amp and can't wait to change out the Chinese tubes and hear what it sounds like. It could use reverb but Lizzie's processor has several reverb settings that all sound very good through it. This amp has a tube driven effects loop and makes any pedal you run through it sound it's best. So far Lizzie and I love this amp and for a mid budget amplifier it's a solid winner ! Good job Mike !!
