I have used and still own many, many amps....all the staple brands, historic and otherwise. This amplifier is a great fit amongst the herd. The clean is much cleaner than prior versions, and the Soldano distortion is excellent....everything from warm sustaining blues to "all out" raging distortion/crunch. The only thing on my wish list would have been a nice vintage spring reverb for the chimy cleans(I know, the cost would have to rise).
Other than that, you have an amp that will take any pedal you can throw at it through the clean channel, footswitchable(included)and the crunch/distortion is one of the best.
Many of my amps just don't get this same quality of distortion straight from the amp. The 1-12 and well matched, open back cab size are right on for tone. FX loop allows connection of another set of FX(usually time-based stuff like studio reverb, delays, etc....)., if you're a Loop fan. It can also take them all upfront if that's your style. The only other thing to keep in mind is that they built a solid amp, but skimped on the tubes, using inexpensive Chinese generic tubes that don't bring out the full quality of this amp straight out of the box. I recommend using the stock tubes initially to break-in your speaker, starting slowly, til it's well broken in, and then find a set of tubes to your liking(save the Chinese tubes as spares).....no mods will be needed on this one. The key is in the tube choice, as everything was designed for a quality sound......tubes are a typical swap item anyway for any tube amp to maintain it, so this is the place that Jet City/Soldano chose to save the $$ to keep the cost down, knowing the owner will change tubes at some point anyway....it's economics.
The build quality is great.....I love the amp! Like any amp, there will be personal budgets, taste, name recognition, country of mfg., etc....bottom line is that this is a true contender for the player that has a mid budget and appreciates the sound of this like I do.
I've A/B'd it against some great amplifiers(much more expensive), and it's clean channel is more flexible than many(very clean to blues/rock crunch), only needing a little reverb, etc. to give it some "twang".
The distortion channel actually beats most of my amps....going from blues crunch, to Brit crunch, to some pretty high gain stuff, but staying tight and musical all the way through, with a good set of tubes.
It's 20W and a perfect balance for home, studio, or live....miking at larger venues....and don't forget....you can add, or alter cabinets to your liking.
It's all there, except no Made in USA badge......but that's the way it is today to bring things in on a tight budget. Nice job Mike Soldano.

Was very excited about this two channel tube amp. Was fine that it didn't have reverb but it would be worth paying more to have it integrated. Nice quality build. Decent speaker, probably not the greatest tubes. Great OD tones but lacks a pure clean tone even with master volume maxed and channel gain as low as possible...yes, even on what is referred to as the crunch channel which has less OD. Weird that a two channel amp doesn't allow a pure clean tone...especially for 20 watts. At "cleanest", there was still a fizzy sounding OD regardless of single coil or hum bucking pickups. I run a pedal board in front and need pure cleans...not this amp. Hated to have to send it back...wanted to like it. Outside the fizzy clean tone, with treble at about 2 o'clock, mids about 11 o'clock, and bass at 4 o'clock, presence on 10 o'clock, was a decent as close to Fender tone as this thing would go but the hint of OD was too apparent as the notes or chords sustain. If you want clean, don't go for it. If you want blues to more heavy overdriven tones...this could be for you.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a great combo amplifier, period. The two channels are easy to dial in tone, and the powers tube, I upgraded right away, so I don't know what the base tubes sounded like, but for less than $$$ you can upgrade to JJ Electronics matched pair EL-84s [Item #: H70063000002000] (and why wouldn't you?). Powerful enough for smaller gigs, absolutely the best practice amp. Just add a power attenuator and you can drive the tubes, without the volume. Highly recommend this and the 2x12 stack, which I have owned for years.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Been playing for about 12 years, and I honestly should know better than to buy an amp without playing it first by now. Anyways, this is just another example of why you never do that; well reviewed online, good-sounding demos on youtube, etc. but when you play this in person is got a lot of harsh high mid and treble frequency buzz/fizz to it. The fundamental tone is there, and it's good, which makes me believe the reviews that bothered to swap speakers and tubes to get the tone they were after, but its ruined by a shroud of buzzsaw shenanigans. For my needs I'd rather just take the few hundred extra $$$ I'd have spent upgrading this amp and roll it into a better overall piece of equipment. This has potential but doesn't sound good to my ears out of the box for anything other than hard rock and metal riffing, though it sounds aaaaawesome for that when tightened up with an OD. Leads of any sort (without getting all your dirt from pedals) are just too harsh and buzzy.

In summations, a great hard rock and metal riffing amp when tightened up with OD, and if you're willing to get all your leads from a pedal and only need that kind of aggressive rhythm tone this could be a major win for you. Cleans are pretty bland.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

All it has is metal and hard rock high gain and that was ok. The cleans were awful. I wanted something I could go from SRV/Hendrix to AC/DC to Zep on and this wasn't it. Sent it back the next day and we'll see how the return/refund process goes.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

First i want a amp to be as good as it can , speaker changed to another thats aggressive on the bottom and highs too.
Tubes all changed to old vintage 12ax7 and no fizzy sounds or harshness now.
The power tubes are new made el-84 pair.
Bias set after reading plate voltage with a probe.
Cranked up it held its basic tone without flubby bass or losing the defined tone and the presence control helped that !
Very good tone and build for the price i paid and the FX loop is outstanding for pedals !
1 year later i use it in stereo with a old Rebel 30 amp and rocks as real as you can take it !

Not bad at all for the stupid price deal, the voicing could be a little more bottom or open the back up a little perhaps !
If you can play well it will come out !

This amp has a great overdrive channel, which is expected from a designer like saldano. However, if you are looking for a good clean amp, I would look elsewhere.

Powerful and loud. I'm just a beginner, so I'm unqualified to speak to quality of the tones generated. However, it performs quite well for my needs. Effects loop works great, but could use a boost if the pre-amp is down really low.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is awesome. I have an old 1972 marshall 1987 half stack so I am no strnger for wht tube tone can do. I made a small music studio room a while back and wanted a smaller tube amp to deliver real tube tone. I play a lot of acdc and need the crunch but also play some metal. THis does it all,and well. I tried a fender mustang 3 version 2 modeling amp and its tube tones all sound synthetic not matter how much finagling you do on the knobs. It just doesn't come close to the real deal. The Jet city is the real deal. THis thing is powerful as well. 20 watts but it could easily be gigged with. Nothing beats tube saturation goodness. This amp is full of the good stuff.I got this on a stupid deal of the day. Its worth more but I snapped at that price and been happy since I got it. I would highly recommend this if you want tube tone ,especially crunch or heavier. Does 80's classic rock very well.Actually does about everything and you can hook your pedals to it as well. One of the better purchases I made lately for my music gear. Giddyup!

This thing is awesome. I was looking for a budget amp with decent tone. I got a lot more than that. This thing rips. Super tight tone. Sustain for days. You can use it from the cleanest tones to the heaviest of metal. Loud as hell. You can drive 2 4x12s with this thing without breaking a sweat.

The only issue I had is that the cleans will never be completely clean, as the tubes break up when you crank them. That's fine though. A little bit of grit never hurt anyone.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA2212C 20W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this but returned it. I liked it, but I need an amp that offers a loud very clean option on the same volume level as the distorted volume. This amp gets somewhat clean but lacks the ability to be very clean. I would also prefer to have more low end thump when I turn up the bass. I swapped tubes to be sure it wasn't the stock tubes, but there was little change. I a/b'd it with other amps I own to be sure. Don't get me wrong. This is a loud amp and worth the price. By demanding super cleans at loud volumes, I may have been expecting it to do something beyond its design. It gets pleasant partially dirty tones and satisfying hi gain tones, but don't expect pristine Fender style cleans at usable performance volume (full band with drummer). On the positive side, it is loud enough to play with a group for classic rock & blues, very portable and very well made. There are not many el84 amps in this price range with this level of quality.
