OVERVIEW

Tune your guitar in style, with one of 3 limited edition colors.

The KORG Pitchblack Chromatic Tuner is now available in various collectible colors, but only for a limited time. The Pitchblack Chromatic Pedal Tuner offers you high precision, advanced functionality, and sleek style to make it KORG's most advanced guitar/bass stompbox-style tuner yet. The Pitchblack tuner has a tough aluminum die-cast body that will endure hard use on the road or in the studio. The large LED meter and note name display with light-emitting surface is easy to read in any setting from daylight to stage light to no light. The extremely smooth eleven-segment LED meter allows accurate visual tuning from any angle. The Pitchblack has a red LED to indicate on/off status and a tuning range of E0 (20.60 Hz) to C8 (4,186 Hz) with adjustable calibration between 436-445Hz.

The Pitchblack's LED meter can be switched among four display modes including: Meter, Full Strobe, Half Strobe, and Mirror.
Meter mode
Similar to using a needle meter, tune your instrument so that the green LED in the center of the LED display lights and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The tuning LED's will be to the right of center if your instrument is sharp, and to the left of the center if your instrument is flat.

Full Strobe mode
Tune your instrument so that the LED meters stop streaming and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The LED meters will stream from left to right if your instrument is sharp and from right to left if your instrument is flat.

Half Strobe mode

Tune your instrument so that the LED meters stop streaming and only the green LED in the center is lit and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The LED meters will stream to the right of center if your instrument is sharp, and to the left of center if your instrument is flat. When the pitch is correct, only the center LED will be lit.

Mirror mode

Tune your instrument so that the two LEDs on the left and right sides of the center LED meet in the middle and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The pitch lit LEDs will spread farther apart the more your instrument is out of tune. The left tuning guide will light if your instrument is flat, and the right tuning guide will light if your instrument is sharp.

100% True-bypass output keeps your tone intact
The Pitchblack mutes the input signal for silent tuning, and when you're not tuning the input is passed directly to the output jack without being affected by any circuitry (True Bypass). So even if you connect the Pitchblack between several of your favorite pedals, the signal will pass without going through the internal buffer amp, ensuring that the sounds you've created using your effects will not be colored in any way. The Pitchblack is designed to coexist transparently with other effect pedals.

A perfect fit in your pedal board plus the DC output powers other pedals
The Pitchblack is designed to fit conveniently into your pedal board system. It provides a DC OUT jack that can supply power to other effect pedals when the optional AC adaptor is used. By connecting optional DC cables, you can supply up to 200 mA of power to multiple effect pedals, simplifying the power connections in your pedalboard.

FEATURES
  • 100% True-bypass output keeps your tone intact
  • Choose from four types of display modes: Strobe, Half Strobe, Meter & Mirror

So far so good but We all Know nothing lasts forever. If this one ever dies I'll definitely buy another.
I have owned this pedal for well over four years and I have used it almost every day since I bought it.
It has never failed me which is more than I can say for the tuner it replaced. (You know the one, It's that white one that almost everybody seems to own.)
When I went to the music store to buy a replacement for the defunct "TU" the guitar tech raved about this pedal and after being shown all the functions and the fact it was true bypass I was sold.
It is also a lot more accurate than the one it replaced. I guess I should add that I do guitar repairs and setups and therefore that should give you an idea of how much I use it.
Very well built and it really is true bypass. I have not been kind to either. I play out almost every weekend and it gets put in a tool bag along with guitar cables.a set of Cruz-Tools, a guitar stand amd a Mag-Light. Outside of a few scratches on the housing it does everything it's supposed to do.
The only complaint I have is the lettering on the front of the pedal where the plug-ins and calibration buttons are is very faint and hard to read. Hopefully they have resolved that.
I paid $89.00 plus tax for it four years ago and if my math is correct that adds up to about 6 cents a day since I owned it. That's a pretty good deal for something that's made me a lot of money.

I have a Fender RT-1000 tuner in my rack which I love. But, I recently stopped bringing my rack to gigs (pedalboard only). So, I needed a pedal tuner. I read reviews and spoke to a guitar store employee, who recommended this tuner. Well, I got one, and I think this is a highly overrated product. It's jumpy when you're tuning. Which is very annoying. But, most annoying is how it flashes flat repeatedly until you get close to "in tune". Then, with just a tiny turn, all of a sudden you're way sharp. It has never taken me so long to tune! Not only do I have rack tuner, but I also have a tuner in a very old multi-effects pedal. Both are way faster. It took me a while to figure out how much I didn't like this tuner. Had I reviewed it immediately, I would have given it a good review. Which may explain why it has such a high rating. But, I'm fed up with this crummy tuner. I'm getting a different one ASAP!

This tuner makes one heck of a pop sound through my rig when turning it on and off. DO NOT BUY! Also called Korg customer service and not any help. Clueless! I was going to buy the Polytune or the Boss pedal tuner. I think I will buy the Polytune next. I wish I never bought the Korg! Junk!

Great tuner. Easy to use. I bought it to use at open mics I host. When guitarists have to unplug their guitars, I tell them to just push the button and unplug. It saves me the trouble of running over to the sound board and turning the volume down every time.

Very impressed with this tuner. I have previously had no idea how to tune an instrument, so I decided to pick this one up after extensive research. I read the manual and it told me exactly what to do. Now I can tune my bass without any problems, and constantly have a consistent tone. It's a solid and reliable little thing, and I love it. You can't go wrong!

Comments about Korg Pitchblack Chromatic Pedal Tuner:

Korg sent me this as a replacement for a previous model under warranty. I will say Korg customer service is a lot better than most. I think it was actually like a month past warranty and they still replaced it with a newer better unit with no hassle.

As for the pitchblack- I've used it at least once a day for over four years and its always spot on and reliable. I don't think I've dropped it, but I've I've taken it out to play, on and off a pedalboard many times and it always powers up and is easy to use.

My only critique is that compared to other tuners I've used and owned this has a slight lag. I prefer to see the initial transient which should be slightly higher pitch and then settle down. A good tuner will show that, but this is still good enough for tuning on stage etc.

Oh, also, I think it has a decent buffer. Going into the pitch black first before other pedals seems to improve the sound a bit so I think it must be a nice buffer circuit.

Comments about Korg Pitchblack Chromatic Pedal Tuner:

I use this tuner to tune a 4 string bass. It appears to be a solid, well built tuner. Even though it has a small footprint on a pedal board, the bright display is very easy to see in sunlight or darkness. It comes with a variety of display options. I personally prefer the strobe tuning display option. It is a "True Bypass" chromatic tuner. When the tuner is switched on it mutes the guitar, which is a must for on-stage tuning. When the tuner is switched off i can't notice that it has any effect on the tone of my guitar what so ever. It tracks notes quickly (even when tuning the bass down a step). The quick note tracking is desireable, if not essential, for adjusting the intonation. It does not come with a power supply, But you can purchase one separately. I have no power supply and It works perfectly fine with a 9volt battery. All-in-all i was pleased with this purchase and consider it money very well spent.

This is a great little tuner with true bypass, so it won't color your sound. Tunes perfectly and very easy to use right out of the box. The display can be seen from a distance, on a dark stage or in sunlight. It's slightly smaller than your typical pedal so the small footprint leaves plenty of room on the pedal board... I have been using the tuner for years. It's a great tuner at a great price. Definitely need to add this to your pedalboard.

If lost, stolen, or damaged I would defintely replace it.

This is a nice, simple, straight forward tuner. A couple of the other reviews state that the stomp switch does not click when pressed. I'm not sure what they are talking about. It may not be as strong as a click on other true bypass pedals, but it definitely does click.
