DOA

Comments about Krankenstein Jr. 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Set the Ohm switch, connected speaker cab, turned down all knobs to zero and powered up. It sounded like it was at full volume and a loose wire was being moved; pretty horrendous noise. Double, triple, quadruple checked everything, same result. RMA done and now waiting on backorder.

Hope to update this with a very positive review when I receive a working version.

Krankenstein JR 20w experience

Comments about Krankenstein Jr. 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Overall I'd rate it 8, the build quality is solid, very very good, the tone is excellent although it struggles when running flat out through a 4x12.
This small amp has great features- 2 channels, independent EQ for both channels, valved FX loop
I have tried out all manner of small amps available and was after a Mesa tone in a portable amp. This has it. I have tried the orange TT, the orange dual terror, the vox nighttrain, the mesa transatlantic, none have the gain or saturation I was after.

I give this amp a 7 because at max gain and max volume, it flops a bit. On max gain there is a background squeel not unlike microphonic feedback of the pre-amp tubes but it is not feedback. This is my only criticism, and it's slightly underpowered for gigs so I'm going to upgrade to the 50w version because the tone is excellent.
Don't be put off by the limited reviews or the single tone videos on youtube, with tweaking, this amp is very versatile even capable of gentle crunchy sounds, and bright warm cleans.
I'd say the amp is reasonable value at this price range when compared to the competition.
