I give this amp a 9 overall. I used to own the 20w model and the problems with that was that it wasn't loud enough and also flopped at high volumes. WIth the 50w model it's very loud, the sound is full bodied and rich with mids and bass (if you dial it in) but the housing is still compact so it's very portable.
Tonally these tiny amps are very versatile. As with my other review, I use a rectifier type tone and this amp easily has the saturation of that amp and a similar tone but is a lot lighter than lugging a mesa boogie head around. However if you dial back the gain, you get a sweet bluesy slightly breaking tone. The clean channel is also rich and bassy with plenty of mids as you would expect from a valve amp, it's perhaps a little quiet in comparison to the high gain channel however you can balance it out with the boost on the effects loop.
Using 6L6 tubes as opposed to regular EL34 gives it a typical American sound- just like Mesa Boogies. My experience of these tubes is that they generally are in higher gain amplifiers and give a more focussed sound but to describe in a paragraph is difficult as you need to hear both together.
For a micro amp it has full eq settings on the high gain channel and partial eq settings on the clean channel, with 2 further shaping dials, one on the front and another presence type control on the back,
The amp is very solidly built, probably stronger than a larger amp as the housing is as thick but the overall amp is a lot smaller.
These represent awesome value for money bearing in mind it's a full 50w of valve power in such a small design, very portable and loud enough for gigging easily.

I tried this amp at a local music store and my first impression was 'this amp is total garbage" really. The clean sounded good but the stein channel sucked to heaven or at least I thought. I kept playing around with it and I jumped the send to the return and that helped some. What I was looking for was a good distortion tone at a low volume. Anyway I said forget it and went home to google the speaker cab because I heard it was made of popular instead of plywood and I wanted to see what others had to say about it. I decided to go back to get the cab but I wound up getting the amp also. (I don't know why, I guess t was my higher self saying get it you fool) Anyway I got it home and slapped my THD Hot Plate so I could push the tubes and keep a reasonable volume. I tinkered around and then WOW! I said WOW! this amp IS ALL THAT. So beautiful and articulate on the leads. I have all kinds of amps and I'm talking some of the best but this one is really special. Some people give it negative reviews but they haven't taken the time to figure this amp out. If you do I guarantee you'll be hooked.

I purchased this amp a few months ago. I play mostly progressive-metal but I do enjoy laying out a blues lick every once in a while.This amp is *amazing.* It is incredibly loud, but if you patch the effects loop together, you can turn the Master volume up to 6 and use the Effects Loops volume to keep it very viable for apartments/bedroom shredding.. And still get exceptional tone. I use this amp in small (250) person clubs, it is that loud. You can get a variety of tones, not quite as flexible as the Rev Jr though. It is very much made for metal.With the Sweep and Presence knobs you can dial in a variety of tones and it has plenty of gain. Very much worth the money.

Alright, mine was defective but I don't want to discourage anyone from getting one. It could be just that the one I got was an isolated bad apple. I had to mention it here just in case there's a trend. I'll get the problem with mine outta the way real quick then I'll tell you the good stuff about it. The Dime channel squealed like a stuck pig, even with no guitar plugged in, might be the tubes, might not, might have happened during shipping, who knows. I returned it 'cause it was brand new, there's only one thing to do in that situation. Anyway, on to the goods: Speaking of the Dime channel, (it squealed but only when the strings were stopped or nothing plugged in so I was still able to hear it) the tone was great. VERY powerful and LOUD. Everybody needs to remember though, that this was modelled after Dimebag's tone but you gotta think Damageplan, not Pantera. Pantera Dime tone was razor-sharp high-watt solid state. This is way more tube-like and brutally-beefy. There's plenty of gain on tap and a wide range of sound variations with the 3band eq, sweep and presence. My favorite feature was the active FX loop with boost because, once I tried one, I'll always use my MXR 10-band EQ in the loop. The clean is big and bold with a lot of headroom and stays warm and unbroken at high volume (I did get a lot of feedback while closer then 3 feet but it could be part of the problem mentioned earlier). Some cons are: It gets very hot, I don't think the small housing was the best choice for this monster, not only for the heat but it looked kinda goofy on my 4x12 cab (which it had plenty of power for). I think it should have been designed to sit on a horizontal 2x12 and at standard width. It is dual-voltage but you have to change the fuse if you use 220v, make sure to change the fuse to a 1.0amp for 220v (and no, I didn't screw that up, I read it in the manual online before I got it). So, I hope nobody has the same squeal problem and rock on!

I own this amp. I didn't purchase it from this site because it wasn't here yet but its great. Whole lots of gain and can easily do all that metal stuff. Im not too into that, more into blues and rock and acid rock and noise stuff, but this thing helps with all of that. Im planning on getting an external reverb gate and a noise gate. I think the only things lacking on this amp is that its not reverb, but this allows you to find your own I guess.Its very loud for a basement, but thats good thing in my opinion. I use it through two 2x12s with some stuff in the effects loop and some stuff on the floor before it. I've read to use the noise gate before the reverb fyi
