Comments about Kustom '36 Coupe Guitar Combo Amp:
Believe it or not my JCM 800 and Laney heads mostly sit because I love the breakup on the clean channel with the gain all the way up. It loves pedals, especially fuzz. Amazing amp, amazing value and very lightweight and cool looking. Love it!

This is a great amp - packed with features and great tube sound, especially for the price. I was looking at Fenders and found this. I was told at a music store Kustom is discontinuing the coupe series after many years of manufacturing them. I was able to pick up a floor model (Coupe 36 with 1x12)at a substantial discount. The sound on this thing is first rate - ranges from clean through great tube distortion. The foot switch really allows you to control the sound on the fly. In addition to switching channels, you can also turn the reverb off and on, and there is a volume boost switch as well. By establishing the extent of the volume boost with a knob in the back, when you step on the boost you get the volume increase you need to play solos over the mix. It also has a line out that would allow you to run it through a PA. I am very happy with it.
Comments about Kustom '36 Coupe Guitar Combo Amp:
I bought this amp after upgrading from a Vox VT30. First off this amp is LOUD! Compared to the VT30, be careful with the volume because it destroys on volume.I don't care for the clean channel at all. The sound is just blah. Good for running an effects loop through, but jacked in straight, no way.The gain is a little light for my taste, but I can dial in all kinds of tones through this little monster. I play both an Ibanez RG with Evolution pick-ups and a Dean Mustaine V with the active Duncans and I can dial in all kinds of USEABLE tones. The overall quality is pretty good, but I have two issues with some of the lights. The main power light flickers on and off depending on how loud I'm playing. Seems to be a loose solder connection. Also the footswitch light for the Lead channel is out. Another soldering issue. All in all the performance of this amp has impressed me very much. I tried out many other tube amps and this one fits the bill mostly.
Comments about Kustom '36 Coupe Guitar Combo Amp:
I bought mine used and it is the best money I've spent on any piece of equipment. I had a hybrid and I couldn't get the tones I wanted no matter how many pedals or settings I tried. once you get a tube amp you'll find the tone you are looking for. Size and weight were a consideration too. I didn't want to have to drag a half stack around to every gig and this little 45lb fit the bill perfect. The only deduction was for the handle, the rubbery grip broke off and I'm left with a thin piece of metal that hurts the hand to carry. The DI out into a PA works excellent and would use it any time over an SM57. 1 year old and no regrets.
Comments about Kustom '36 Coupe Guitar Combo Amp:
I have had mine over a year now, and play regularly in a classic rock band. I reiterate what other reviews have said about the amazing sound of this amp. The tube distortion is top notch. For classic rock/hard rock, you won't need a distortion pedal cause you'll be satisfied with the sound out of the box. My only negative about this amp is that it doesn't get loud enough in a mix if you play with a drummer and bass player. I have it on 7 and still feel it could get louder,(unlike a Fender Twin combo, when it's on 2 or 3,it's too loud). Having an amp at this size on 5 or 6, should cut cleanly through a mix, but I have heard other amps do a better job. Maybe some EQ might help, but out of the box, this is NOT a LOUD amp. But if you just want an amazing amp to play on your own, this amp can't be beat.

The day after I brought this home I sold my Fender and Marshall Tube Amps. The sound is awesome. The looks are gorgeous. If you want to know more look at the other reviews. I just can't get enough of this amp.
Comments about Kustom '36 Coupe Guitar Combo Amp:
I went down to my local music, but forgot my favorite Ibanez ART-100 Silver Les Paul, but I decided I'll try the amp with any ol' Ibanez down at the shop. Just so happened the music store had a red ART-100 on shelf, "Great!!". So I ask Brian, the worker at the store if he could hook up the amp for me, and he did. The amp looks very retro, 60's ish with the cool looking Tuck N' Roll on it. I started to play random tunes on the clean setting, and this amp has many versitile settings, so It was a little hard to try the whole amp in just 10 mins with all the settings... but anyways, The clean channle sounds JUST like my 50'watt Kustom Defender, how amazed was I! The lead channel was pretty hard to get my kind of sound out of, you have to mess with the whole amp to get the sound I like (pop punk/emo/screamo music-EG:Hawthorne Heights, Chiodso, Green Day, modern day teen rock music so-to-speak) The amp supposebly has a Bright switch on it, but as I said before, I only had 10 mins, so I didn't even think of a bright switch untill I got into my car(which would of helped my pop punk distortion truely unfold with this amp)... The amp is great, and a perfect size for a gig, or jsut practice in a room, or even studio work for cd's. The distortion is pretty good, but I'll still mess w/ it till I find a good sound w/o a Ibanez DS-7 pedal. NOTE: I DO NOT OWN THIS AMP *YET*, I WAS SIMPLY JUST TESTING IT OUT!! :)* I HIGHLY suggest this amp to ANYONE who like coutry, rock, blues, alternative, hair metal, or ANY type of music - NO JOKE!!-Ian Kusek.
Comments about Kustom '36 Coupe Guitar Combo Amp:
This amp is very versatile. I am primarily a rock and blues player and this thing nails both. ESPECIALLY ZZ Top, if anyone reading is a fan. Gets pretty loud. 4.0 on features due to the lack of EQ for both channels. However, this thing make sup fo rthat with a wealth of other features, my favourite being the volume boost for solos or whenever you need it. It can pull off marshall-ish sound or Fender cleans, as well as pretty brutal tone with a strong enough signal. Overall, highly recommended, you will not go wrong. Just be prepared, as this thing does not flatter your playing.
Comments about Kustom '36 Coupe Guitar Combo Amp:
This is truly an awesome amp! Best feature is the fact that you can dial in the gain on both channels independently. Clean side can go from jangly, to smooth, to good ol' days tube distortion. Dirty side can get as nasty as you like. Built like a tank, I'm assuming that this baby is going to be with me for a long time!
Comments about Kustom '36 Coupe Guitar Combo Amp:
Probably the "smartest" amp I've ever owned. The two masters really make it easy to dial in the perfect tone, and the boost switch is great for live applications. Solid construction, looks good on stage, speaker sounds great. If you buy this amp you wont regret it.
