I have been looking for a rack mount bass multi effects for about a year now,I ask other bass players, but could'nt get any help. One day I was at the music store and saw the Bass Podxt pro and ask the sale person about this item, he said this the best rackmount on the market, so I took his word for it and took the thing home. I was suprised how easy it was to hookup to my Ampeg 4pro, note that the Ampeg 4 pro already sound good with 1800 watts, but when I connected the Bass Podxt pro to it, it made my SVT 18 and SVT 410HLF sound even better. I'm using the Bass Podxt pro in the Bi-Amp mode, all of the effects are off the hook. Playing my bass this way, I will never have to play live thru just the Amp only, now I use the Bass Podxt pro as a pre-amp, using it that way can get you much more out of your Amp and Cab's.Did I mention that it looks good in the rack to, this is a must have for all bass players that is looking for that special sound. If you are looking to record your sound, it's too easy and fun.

The Bass Pod Pro XT is a great piece, but NOT if you are looking for stereo effects. I bought this to replace a Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro, but sent it back. I was dissapointed to find out the Pro XT doesn't have stereo outputs, or any stereo effects ( !! ). Both the 1/4" and XLR outs are paired, but they are D.I. and Modeled outputs rather than Left and Right. If you are looking to drive a power amp into a cabinet for an awesome bass rig, or if you just want a single channel of modeled output to send to the FOH board or your recorder .. then this piece is a killer choice. If you want stereo outputs with stereo chorus or reverb, forget it !! Hmmm ... the PodXT Live for guitar has stereo outs !! The Boss GT-6B for bass has'em. Even the Behringer had'em on both the 1/4 and the XLR outs (and the XLRs were switchable from pre or post master volume control) !! I wonder what happened on the Bass Pro XT design team to miss this ? :-/ !!

    Rocking the Bass Podxt Pro

    By Echoes' Bassman

    from Seattle, Washington

I have used this now for 4 years. I bought it when it first came out. I use it live and in the studio. It is utterly the most flexible rig on the planet. Live, in small settings, I can just simply run the Bass Pod through the foldback monitors, and for larger settings I can feed an on-stage amp as well as sending the effected signal to the mixing console. In the studio, I can send the effected signal to a track and the uneffected signal as well for a safety track for re-amping if needed. The Bass Podxt excels for re-amping in the studio.I'm quite content with the sound I can able to get from the Bass Podxt. I do not believe a bassist shoud be without one!

    Too Much?

    By Anonymous

This is a really fun piece of multi effects to play with but i'd say most of it's features are highly impractical for any kind of music unless you play some really trippy experimental stuff. In the recording studio, bass can't be done without a pre amp and this, in my opinion, is what the pro was made for. This baby is jam packed with recording features which can become very useful in the recording studio and combines a lot of functions into one unit which is convenient. My only recommendation before buying this is checking out it for yourself and seeing how many of these features you can actually put to use.

    A tone dream!

    By TheIronMaiden

Read the manual and your possibilities are endless. Great effects, eq and mix any cab with any amp. Save your creations to 64 slots of memory. Half of the presets are top notch and ready to roll. In the studio this this is great. Live I run it thru the effects loop of my BMaxT preamp. The Pod is so tweakable with plenty of memory that I don't have to touch my preamp or Ampeg BR2 during a gig, just switch to the next preset! I run all this thru my 2 Hartke 4X10 cabs. With the Bass POD XT I can make my rig sound like anyones rig! Good value!!!

    Rackamout Studio

    By Big Funky Bottoms Rule

    from Newburyport, MA

I've had this about a year, but have a full time career, so I still haven't figured out all the many things this baby can do. What it does do, without much fuss, is allow you to dial in a wide variety of sounds. Pair it with a high quality amp and run the signal through a worthy cabinet and this could be all you ever need. I chose a Behringer Power Amp 2500 watts, and some used Trace Elliot cabs (4 x 10 and 1 x 18). The bi-amping feature comes in handy, since I can push all the lows through the 1 x 18 and send the mids and highs through the 4 x 10s. Sweet! I do wish, however, that I'd gotten a better power amp. The Behringer is not bad, but it's not as good as Crate or Peavey gear. Rock on!

    Great Piece Right Here

    By SPCPocketGroove

    from Seoul, S. Korea

I got this thing cause the jazz/vocal combo I'm in has been doing very small (in a 4star General's living room!) gigs and everyone has to plug directly into the PA, because lugging 3 amps into his house is (as we say in the army) a NO-GO. The Podxt is PERFECT for this type of playing situation, where I want to get a nice modeled tone for both my upright and electric, all in the space of 2 racks. The presets are great and USEABLE, same as the effects, and tweaking the presets is so freaking easy with a quick read through the manual...which I have to commend on being the greatest and FUNNIEST user manual I've ever encountered. Line6 really knows who they are making gear for, so they even made the manual to be FUN to read. I'm thoroughly impressed, although I have heard that using this thing for recording via the USB is not ideal. But for live applications, this thing is too easy.Digital stuff I actually like!?!? What is the world comming to?

Any tone, any genre, it's all here!

    By Anonymous

I bought this a few months ago to record a demo. I never imagined I'd have this much fun with it. There really is no end to the different amounts of tones you can achieve. I still find new effects that give me inspiration every time I turn it on. Excellent for beginners and pros alike, regardless of the type of bass or music genre you play. Worth every penny, easily the best piece of bass equipment you can buy!
