Line 6 Floor Pod

Features:

This thing is a complete waste of time.  No wonder the price went down from 299 to 199.  Save your money beginners.  OD/DS sound horrible, is very difficult to program presets, bunch of useless delays, etc.  Some kids bought one and brought to me to help them figure it out.  I did not have the heart to tell them they bought junk.  I have used multeffects way back from Boss ME8's, GT3's and now GT10, Digitech GNX and RP's. Don't get fooled by "insane" distortion.  It is a mess. Line 6 should be ashamed.

Too complicated...

Features:

I should give it 20 out of 10 for features as far as capabilities go, because it can do everything, however, it can't do multiple things at once, so 5.  It is also WAY too complicated for me, and I have been playing for 18 years.  These type of processors are supposed to be great for beginners so they can figure out what they like without buying 50 different pedals, but if it's not user-friendly enough for anyone except a sound engineer to dial in a useful tone, then that defeats the purpose.  I tinkered with this thing for weeks, read the manual, sought online help, and had friends and other guitarists try to help, and this thing just is too hard to dial in.  The presets that come in it are just silly and not usable.  They must just be for showing off what it can do if you want to push the limits, but I have scrolled through more presets than I have the patience to try out, and found zero that suit my taste or anyone else's.  If you want a multi-effect processor, get a Digitech.  Same price or less, and it actually does do multiple effects at once, and I figured out how to dial it in without even reading the book.

Quality:

It's about as solid as anything you buy these days, but most of it is plastic.

Value:

If you are good at programming or an effects whiz, then go for it.  If you are average Joe geetar player, you will wind up smashing this with a sledge hammer out of frustration.

Overall:

Does a lot of stuff, and I know it is capable of producing some great tones.  But, I can't find any, and I hate this thing!  I can't even sell it!  I bought a Digitech multi-effect pedal for $99 and love it.  I'm just sayin!

Great Product!

Features:

I gig with mine on a regular basis through a Fender 212 amp that oddly enough doesn't seem to color the tone and sounds great. We mostly play Country/ Classic rock. Every effect that I've ever had a desire to use is on this pod. I love the delay and reverb as it helps me achieve that rockabilly tone that I've always looked for. Plenty of amp models to select from and they all sound great. I also love the fact that you can build your own tones and store them in a preset to bring up quickly which totally helps when your gigging. Good stuff! I've gigged with it regularly for over two years now and no problem. Wouldn't leave home without it!

Everything I'll ever need...

| Review By: Mike Atwood | 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Features:

So many possibilities...16 different amp models with a clean and dirty on each one, then on top of that you can choose different cabinent settings, (1x12, 2x12, 4x10, 4x12, 1x10 and a basic tube preamp). As a previous owner of a Spider III combo, I was pleased to see all my favorite Line 6 amp models (the Insane setting totally lives up to it's name) along with other classic setups. The reverb and delay settings are awesome, everything you'd expect from Line 6. Some of the delay settings can take a little while to dial in, you just gotta be paitent and precise with the knobs. The same can be said with some of the other multi-effects, but once you get it just right the tones won't let you down. The noise gate and compresser are pretty standard, if your pickups are decent enough you'll only need it for distortion (every guitar is different, but I usually never have to go past the halfway mark to get it crystal clear.)

Quality:

I bought my unit used from a guy who had it for a year, and it's in pristine condition. No loose/sticky switches and the volume/wah didn't even need to be calibrated. It's probably not the most rugged, road-worthy piece of equipment, but as long as it's stored properly and not treated like a stompbox I don't see why it shouldn't last a long time.

Value:

Best bang for your buck, period. If you're just looking for a cost-effective floorboard with all the famaliar effects, this is definitely for you. Good-bye, pedal chains!!!

Overall:

Best thing I ever bought for my guitar, hands down.
