Includes powerful GearBox software and PC and Mac compatibility.

Just connect the shiny red Line 6 GuitarPortXT hardware to your Windows PC or Mac with the included USB cable and connect GuitarPort's stereo output to multimedia speakers, headphones, or your stereo. Then fire up the GuitarPort GearBox software, plug in your guitar and you're ready to jam!

    GuitarPort Effects
GuitarPort features classic stompbox effects like delay, chorus, tremolo, flanger, reverb and more. Tweak to your heart's content, save as many variations as you want, or choose from Line 6's extensive library of ready to rock tones. From models based on classic stompboxes like the Fuzz Face, Tube Screamer, Phase 90, and Uni-Vibe,* GuitarPort is like having a whole rack system and custom pedal board living inside your computer.

GuitarPort also offers the ability to change the signal path of the effects for every tone. The reverbs, modulation effects, and delays can be routed either in front of the amp (pre) or after (post), so that chorus can be either a stompbox or a rack unit, depending on what you need.

    GuitarPort Amps & Cabs
Line 6 invented digital modeling guitar amps and is the magic behind the guitar tones used on countless platinum albums.

Now, Line 6 brings that acclaimed tone technology from the greatest recording studios in the world to your desktop. GuitarPort's meticulously crafted recreations of a dream collection of 16 classic and modern guitar amplifiers coupled with two dozen cabinet options easily capture the range of tone found on the best guitar tracks ever recorded.

You can mix and match POD XT-quality amp and cab models based on Marshall, Fender, Mesa/Boogie, Vox, Roland, Soldano and more,* with controls laid out for a guitarist and not some computer geek. And the sound? The same dead-on classic tones used by hundreds of thousands of Line 6 users every day.

    GuitarPort Tracks & Jam Tools
To put your great guitar tone to use, GuitarPort gives you an easy to use audio player that lets you jam along with MP3s, WAV files, or any audio CD in your personal collection. You can rip tracks, scan through the audio, jump to any point, loop sections, and even slow to half speed without changing pitch for careful study of your favorite lick.

Developing your technique is no longer a monotonous affair with GuitarPort's programmable metronome. In addition to standard click, it also offers a selection of kick, snare, and hi hat samples that let you construct your own drum patterns in phrases up to eight bars long. Using the slider control to set phrase length, you can easily build a practice groove in straight 4/4, or more complex odd-meter patterns, and the tempo dial spins your beats-per-minute setting anywhere from a ridiculously slow 15 BPM to an out-of-this-world prestissimo of 300!

Other useful tools that come standard with GuitarPort include an onboard digital tuner, an intelligent hum reducer for taming the noise from magnetic pickups.

    GuitarPort Online
With GuitarPort you can subscribe to GuitarPort Online (optional) and play along with the latest and greatest tracks, lessons, and licks. A subscription provides unlimited access to hundreds of tracks and lessons covering the greatest guitarists of all time-- from blues legends to metal shredders, jazz virtuosos to country pickers.

I bought the Guitar Port XT a few months ago and this product is simply amazing. Any kind of sound you want, you can get. PERIOD. It may take a little time to figure out what you have to do to get your sound, but it WILL be able to do it. When I first got this product, I had no problem figureing out what to do, your amp model is in the top of the window and your effects are in the center, all you have to do is pick your amp/cab model from the drop down list and tweak your effects. The noise gate is the best I've seen, I use this in a room where there is at least 5 other things giving me feedback on my guitar, the noise gate eliminates !>ALL<! of the feedback i get from my other electronics. the hum reducer is also great, the annoying hum you get that noise gates cannot get rid of, is gone, it "learns" the sound your guitar is making and makes it tune that frequency out. I would not recommend this to users that need to play shows, seeing as it needs a computer to run. But the Gearbox software will run on almost ANY PC, literally. I have it installed on my main pc (pentium 4 - 768 meg ram) but i also have it installed on my crap pc in my living room (1.8 gig AMD - 96 megs ram) so i can play without disturbing my girlfriend. If you are a musician who meeds an amp and is on a budget like me, GET THIS - you will not be disappointed.

My father purchased this for me as a Christmas present, as it was one of the few guitar programs claiming to be compatible with Macintosh computers. In my opinion, Line 6 shouldn't have marketed this product as Mac compatible. Not yet, at least. The software wouldn't even install on my computer from the disk. I had to rip the installer off it. I also had to go through a series of downloads from the Line 6 website just to keep my computer from crashing when I plugged the Guitarport in. It worked for a short time, but now all it does is make this continuous clicking sound, which isn't even from my guitar. I can't even hear THAT through my headphones, either, only through Audacity. If you own a Macintosh, I would recommend not purchasing this product. At least not until Line 6 decides to fix the numerous problems the product has with Mac computers.

A Quick And Easy Stompbox For Your Computer

    By ryjyd

    from Columbus, Ohio

The sound lags when processed through the computer. Not good, but the headphone jack is on time, so no biggie, and I intended to use it to record away from the comp anyhow. The available sounds off the bat are decent, and expandable to more recent effects and models with a little more cash. The feature to click on a tone from the internet based on a song and "just get it" is great for covers (Nickelback, Santana, Metallica, etc.). Not bad for about $100.

    Inexpensive Multi-Effects via Computer

    By John Skeene

    from New York City

I purchased my second one recently (due to sabotage) and I am very quite satisfied with Line 6 products. When not practicing I hook it to my laptop USB and amp just to control the sound volume and clarity coming from my computers sound module. Now on guitar you can't beat it for effects, tone and price when using the supplied software. Record CD's, play along, metronome, looping, etc., it is so variable about how you can control your sound and has max functions. Later on I'm going to step up to the Line 6 POD devices but will always have this excellent unit.

    AWESOME!!!!!!

This product is so awesome i would have to say... i own a little recording studio that records for local bands and i ALWAYS! use this guitar port for recording guitars. it sounds so professional and the effects are great!!! the only down side is there are a couple effects not there like a flanger. and the wahwah is done manually with the mouse but an easy fix if you just hook up a pedal before the port and your set. the sound is amazing the features are great!!! and it works for bass too!!!! BUY THIS RIGHT NOW!! YOU WILL NOT REGRETT IT!!

    A great song note pad

    By Stratsman

    from In the deep south!!

This is by no means a pro unit. It is great for practice or recording guitar ideas. I have had mine for about 4 or 5 years. Actually I'm on my second one. The first one lasted about 3 years of almost constant use. Line 6 customer support is excellent once you actually talk to a person. The effects are good, not great. The new pod farm is a must add on. The only real drawback is that it replaces your sound card. You can get around this by plugging your computer speakers into the headphone out on the guitar port. If you use headphones it's no problem. All in all it's a great music note pad.

    Love the Guitar Port

    By Joe-P3ZVG

    from Boise

I have had the guitar port for about 2 months now. I love it! As a hobbyist it is great to be able to have tons of amplifies at your finger tips. I have added the RiffTracker to my mix. If you want to record quick riffs it is great as well. Great product for the price. Wish I did not have to add studio speakers for playback. You must use studio speakers or Headphones. Will not play via computer speakers.

I have one for a couple of years now, and I stil use it alot. I also have a pod x3 live, but good for starters and pro's. it's small, easy to use and line6 adds more and more amps and stompboxes to gearbox so you can always get the perfect sound.if you get this great device, you should also get guitar port online, it's verry cool;P

Great buy for the DIY Musician!

    By shredder.cheese

    from California

I have owned Guitar Port XT for about 2 years now and use it with Acid Pro. I must say that I love it. It is very easy to use and the multi-effects and cab simulation are pretty decent. Yes it is probably best to subscribe with Line 6 to take advantage of some of the learning extras but it is not a must. Plus there are many great add-ons (more heads & cabs, effects, etc.) that you can purchase seperate, and all at very reasonable price. Reliability is exellent and in 2 years I have had no hardware or software problems or any problems with downloading updates for it.

    Great For Recording or Jamming

    By Trevuar25

    from Parma, MI

I have owned guitar port xt for about a month now, what a great investment! The effects are just amazing. The Gearbox software barely takes up any CPU and I can record on Acoustica's mixer with no latency and ease. The mic choices, the distance the mic is away from the virtual amp, the 4 different mic's to use are all great for different styles.I'm into heavy metal and the distortion you can get out of this thing is amazing. Crunching distortion and great harmonic pinching! I had a few songs recorded through my effects pedal, I redid them and the difference is just great! There is kind of a drum machine on the gearbox software, but nothing is better than buying different software to make the drums work. I use Acoustica's beat craft and it works like a charm. How Could I forget! The hum reducer works like a charm!Well, if you aren't willing to go the extra buck and get all the equipment to make a super professional recording. Or if you would like to practice jamming on your pc or Mac with quality sounds. I would highly recommend the Guitar Port!!
