Interesting that Line 6 has changed their products (at least this one) to match Peavey's way of thinking. Turn this amp on, effects are on - just like Peavey's. My Spider Jam - turn it on - comes on clean, the way it should be. Anyway, the amp sounds good. My MP3 player, mics, and guitars all sound good on this amp. The battery power aspect is nice (no power cord needed - but adapter is supplied). All the effects work well. The low end is gutless, but you can feed it into a sound board if you need to. For an easy, take-along, practice amp, it is great and I would recommend it. The on-board tuner is nice also, but I have to crank my guitars all the way up to get it to work well - then do not forget to turn your guitar back down, and hit the INSANE button - because you will know why they labeled it INSANE - poor little amp sounds like it is about to blow it's knobs all over the room! It will get loud! For a student, or busker (as they say across the pond), this amp would be a very good choice. If Line 6 would change their turn-on sequence, and put in a long-throw, polycone speaker - this amp would easily dominate the mini-amp market.
It needs a better speaker. Remember Line 6, and anyone else who might be reading this - always, always, always, always put your money into the speaker(s) - that is what you hear!
For the money - great buy!

I really wanted to like this amp but t'was not to be. Some of the effects are okay but sweep echo is awful and reverb is less than stellar, tape echo is passable. The speaker breaks up and distorts with the volume at about 4. The distortions are harsh, tinny and very amature(much like my spelling). The clean is equally bad do to what I believe is a VERY cheap and poor quality speaker. Go for the roland micro cube. Sound quality is excellent. If you want a small modeling amp with a mic input go for the vox da5. I do not recommend this amp at all.
Same basic features as all the other amps in its class (vox, roland, etc)
Build quality is good. Sound quality is terrible.
In my opinion not worth the money

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

it is nearly impossible to turn off the echo and effects, the knob usually doesnt recognize the off position. but pther than that it is a good, portable amp and its nice how it has a mic input and its surprisingly loud. The distortion isn't very good either.

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp for such a small package delivers some punch. For general practice, volume level 2 is plenty and half way up is real loud with good clarity with no speaker vibration or unwanted distortion. The various amp models and effects allow you to dial in about any tone you want and they all sound great for their intended purpose. You will find something for any style or genre of music. The additional acoustic setting makes it very versatile and it sounds awesome with my Martin DCX-1E. The way the effects are set up is easy to use and allows you to control the intensity and speed of the effects through the knob position and a tap for speed button. The microphone input and separate mic level control along with the audio device input lets you to play as a one man band or practice along with the audio input. The tuner works well and is positioned and lighted for easy view even in a dark environment. Last but not least is the portability. It is very light and on battery power there is no loss in performance and you can play several hours on one set of batteries. Anyone looking for a full featured, portable amp should seriously consider this one.

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp a few years ago - wanted something very compact. It's small, portable and convenient, but is a bit noisier than the comparable Rolands (2) I also own.
I finally rigged up a switching jack to run these 5 Line-6 watts thru a 50w. 10" speaker. What a difference that makes! So much gutsier and musical.
That's a lesson I've learned with a number of small, inexpensive amps - it's always the speaker that's the cheapest, weakest link.

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

MY friend owns this and when he comes over i play it sometimes. I like it! but the EQ comtrols are'nt very effective, and the metal and insane tones are very similar and a tiny bit cheezy. But the crunch and clean toens are excellent. otherwise if you are'nt picky like me, and want to save money, this is good for you.

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

    Well worth the money.
I love this amp. It is a great practice amp. Plenty of power for practicing and working stuff out )way more than you would think). I have even patched this through a bigger amp to play with the band, just to get the sounds and settings from this thing. It has a great sound and can really rock when patched into something with a lot of power. On the other hand, I even loan this out to a ladies group to use for a PA for their meetings. It's lightweight, easy to carry and doesn't take a rocket scientist to use. Just plug and play and have fun. The tuner is pretty good and easy to use. The presets are really good, too. A good variety of sounds that are easy to use. The one thing I don't care much for is that the settings all are set to automatically turn on the phaser, chorus. You just have to turn them off each time. Minor problem for a great little amp that sounds a lot "BIGGER" than it's size.

    Best Sounding Battery Amp

    By Guido-QJXN6

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I had a Vox mini that I liked everything about it, except for it has an obnoxious nasally tone that I can't stand and am very sensitive too. Very, very british sounding. I went to The Guitar Sinner and tried out the Line 6 MicroSpider, the tone alone blew me away. the effects are ok, they need more variety and the 'space delay' is very cheesy. If this amp had a better effect level control and a compressor it would be the bomb. The tone alone is what sold me. Very big sounding almost sounds like a 10" speaker. Great fat crunch and the tone controls work very well. If this amp had Vox's mini effects, it would be 100% awesome. I also tried the Vox D5 which is the larger battery amp than the Vox mini. It had the same midrangey, nasally sound with less bottom end than the MicroSpider. No contest for me, but there are plenty of people that like that British style midrange. I don't. I like a fat, ballsy, rich, smooth tone and this little Spider does it well. The lead tones are thick and punchy compared to the Vox's.

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've had this amp for about six months now, I specifically picked this one for the small size for my dorm room. It worked great for about 3 of those six months and now it won't even turn on. (trying to use line 6 customer support is annoying too) The tuner also is worthless, I have to use a different tuner to get my guitar actually in tune. the tone sounds too sharp and pushy, like the little amp is trying to be something it's not. The knobs are flimsy- just feels overall cheaply made. I'd say i'm not impressed. I have the spider 3 75 watt and the lowdown 300 pro and both those work perfectly. something about this guitar amp just doesn't fit.

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

Although Line 6 gear has a good reputation, this recent release is total junk. Lots of built in effects, but a horrifically weak sound. Save your money and purchase the Spider 15 for beafier sound and lower price. If you're really looking for a battery powered amp, the Roland Micro Cube is a good alternative.

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

This was my first amp three years ago. Four guitars later and multiple amps, the Line 6 Micro Spider is still my most played amp, because it is so convenient to practice on and not wake up my wife. I have taken it on trips and have used a microphone plugged in along with an acoustic guitar and people were amazed how well this little guy sounded. As others have stated, the "Insane" is worthless, but I use that channel to program my own custom settings. I have used it with my wife's keyboard and I have recorded off of it using headphones. It just goes with me along with my beater acoustic/electric no matter what I'm doing just in case. It works well with an EQ pedal for even more tones and basically effective with my entire pedal board too. I can't imagine life without it!
It has everything I need to rough in the tone I want for practicing. Throw on an EQ pedal and the tones seem endless.
Three years, using it almost daily, but speaker and pots sound like new (and I have maxed out the clean channel a few times).
It seems expensive compared to amps in it's price range, but if you want battery portability, nothing touches it. I've A/B it with my cousin's new, more expensive, larger amp and except for volume, this thing out showed it easily. I'd love to compare it to an old Pignose.

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

The sound is weak and default amp settings are over done. Even the tuner on mine doesn't work properly. I'm a Huge Line 6 fan, but this one really doesn't cut it. The VOX DA5 is a far better sounding amp, with many more features and ways to tweak your tone. What a shame but this is going back and not going to be an addition to my Line 6 collection.

This little guy simply POUNDS for it's size/weight class. The speaker on this baby BOOMS and you can model your tone amazingly well. The effects are a very nice touch and allow you to tweak your sound even further. Overall, if you are on a budget and don't want to sound like you are on a budget, buy this amp, you won't regret it!

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is my best buy in a while. After struggling to find an amp that could produce quality distortion and effects. I fiddled with a GDEC, tried a Peavey, even an expensive effects box- to almost no avail. I finally realized I would have to go with either Line 6 or Zoom- both of which are usually out of my price range and much too large (I'm in cramped conditions at present.) The MicroSpider solved all that. I could finally get nice, Metal tones from an amp the size of a basketball. Great deal. I highly recommend it.

I had the line6 30 watter and this sounds a little better to my ears. i think they metal channel sounds on this than the 30. Crunch real versatile if was one channel amp thats the channel i would stay on. Clean ok does the job mixes well with effects. I am happy with my purchase

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this little amp to help me recover from surgery. A week or two of just stay-at-home beckoned, the sum was shining and I have a nice yard...what better than to sit in a comfy chair, on the deck, Les Paul and this little fellow? At 6 watts it can go loud enough to keep yourself happy without driving wife, neighbours and animals mad. I use mainly the clean and crunch settings for play and practice, and I've used the others for fun and just to see what they're like. The sound is great for such a small box. I'm not allowed to lift anything more than 10 lb after surgery, so I can move this little guy around without problems.4.5 for featues...the missing feature for me is a metronome. This is an ALMOST one-box-that-does-all, but I also need to harry a metronome with it. As I practice a lot with a metronome, and this is a practice amp, a simple click-only metronome would have given me everything I needed for my exile in the yard in one box.4.5 for quality is a little harsh...should have been 4.9. Just one niggle, on power-on the chorus FX is on, even though the knob is off. Just turn it on, then off again fixes it but its a little nuisance. That said, 10 for value and 10 for overall represent a fair score for such a cheap device that does so much. I plug in my iPod, fire up some backing tracks (and click tracks in the absence of the 'nome), hit crunch and recovering from surgery is not so bad. Thank you Line 6!

Comments about Line 6 Micro Spider 6W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

The Micro Spider III is my first amp and was just lucky that this was the practice/portable amp sold at the guitar store that sold me an Epi Special II guitar a year ago, because one week later I was starting an intro guitar class with a dozen acoustics and (not knowing what I was doing) it only took me minutes with the acoustical setting to dial in a comparable sound! Within 2 months, I bought a MIM Strat and now with these three items I can play just about any sound from Buddy Holly to blues, to surf, to Jimi, to Black Sabbath!!!!!!! With settings from clean to metal, crunch, and insane and 3 adjustable modulations and 3 adjustable ambiance effects, not to mention all 3 EQ knobs, I'm still finding new sounds and I practice up to 4 hours per day! I crank it up in my cabin and outside and can keep it very quiet in my apartment in the winter with mega hours on it and no issues. The 4.5 for quality is due to the not so great built-in tuner, that I quickly bought a Korg tuner to assist my learning ears. Now that I have experimented with all sorts of genres, and now an intermediate type of player, I'm defining my specific sounds that I want to specialize into the future much faster than I could have possibly dreamed of... basically because of the wide array of music I can play with this amp!!! Thanks Line 6 for an awesome product like this. I'll never be able to play a tube amp quietly or out in the woods, so this is a keeper. BTW, I found an insulated Igloo cooler that the amp fits in perfectly for traveling and a car adapter for running off your cigarette lighter socket. Wow!!!!!!!!
