Okay first off, let me tell you if you will be disappointed in this pedal. If you are expecting vintage mod effects, you will be disappointed. A lot of people have compained that this sounds nothing like a Phase 90, or that the tremelo is mediocre. You will also be disappointed if you pay too much for this. It is a nice multi-effects box. It does not do everything that Line6 promises, and it is not worth $250. Even new, it sells for less than that now, and I got mine used for $135.It is, however, a very good role-player on your board if you want access to a lot of modulation effects, but modulation's really not your bread and butter. I will say that it has fairly decent tone for a digital multi. It is not transparent though. It has 24-bit A/D/A conversion like every other digital multi, and that effects your tone. It does not, however, ruin your tone. I think that if you were playing a Strat and you punched the phaser, it would no longer sound much like a Strat. You would however get a very good phaser sound out, which is the whole point IMO.If I had to complain about the sound of this thing it would only be the volume. For some reason, this thing just seems to suck a few decibels out of my tone every time I hit an effect. It's very annoying because dynamics are an important part of my playing. I haven't figured out how to deal with this yet. If there's anything else it's the pseudo-classic garbage that the pedal was designed around. Okay, I ALWAYS like the idea of basing your equipment on popular and/or vintage sounds, but this thing acts like it's giving you the real deal. I does not. I hate dialing up effects that I have to read in the manual what they are. I'd rather they designed the sounds the same way but just called them 'phaser' 'vibe' 'pan' 'ring mod' 'pitch shift' etc. Quit confusing me with effect names from 35 years ago that most people say aren't accurately reproduced anyway. Thank you.To be fair, this is overall a great pedal for what it is, a multi-effects pedal for modulation effects. I replaced a Behringer multi with this, and it is just night and day. The A/D/A conversion on the Behringer just made every effect sound icey spinal shivers. Also, this has a much better pallete of effects, and the skeezey tweezey knobs do a great job of letting you dial in your sound. Overall, this IS the multi I've been looking for, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great pallete of modulation effects and fairly low real estate on you board.

Volume Drop, Volume Drop Volume Drop. take it apart and re-solder new resistors to the pcb, any where from 22k to 26k, depending on the degree of the volume drop, should work.

I hear a lot about the footswitches breaking, mine haven't but they do look kind of cheap. But then again nothing a decent solder job can't fix.

The power jack is annoying you either have to buy a special power supply or get a dc converter for it. A converter usually comes with a one-spot power supply and daisy chain or a godlyke power all and daisy chain set.
not worth the price cuz you have to fork out more money to fix it.

cool pedal but has some baggage...

By Scott-0SaRQ

Comments about Line 6 MM4 Modulation Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this to replace my old Digitech GNX4 when I bought my new amp. I searched every where to find a multi effects moduler pedal such as Chorus, Tremolo, Flange, Phaser ect, with out any effects that boost the gain for an fx loop. So I found this one one Musician's friend, and it look like it would be just what I was looking for and it was, all the effects sound really good and everything is easy to use, but I noticed right away that whenever I engage an effect, there is a noticable volume drop. I looked online and saw that this is a common problem with these pedals and the DL4 pedal as well.I havent called Line 6 yet to see if they can fix it for free, but I have a feeling I'm probaly going to have to spend an extra $30 to get it modified from somewhere else.Sooo... if you are thinking of getting this or any of the other line 6 pedals, keep in mind you might have to get it modified or you will sound like a noob on stage. Over all there are not that many multi fx pedals that don't have amp simulators on them for this price, so if you don't want to buy a bunch of different pedals and don't mind getting the MM4 modified than it's a pretty cool pedal.oh and by the way the reason for the volume drop is the type of resistors they use.

I love this thing. It is just right for playing that P-funk.I love all the flangers and I dig that it's all in one unit. When I feel like shredding I have a nice little effect setting for that as wellSaw

This pedal...

Comments about Line 6 MM4 Modulation Guitar Effects Pedal:

...has alot of great effects and features. The buttons are totaly silent, they dont even click...very nice feature. Its very easy to save a setting although you cant have more than 1 setting on at a time but if you could it would probly sound bad anyways. Most of the effects come close to their counterpart especially the uni-vibe setting. I owned a univibe just before I bought this and I cant tell the difference. The phaser is great, I can get the phase 90 sound or a twisted phase. The panning is my perferd tremolo, I think it comes closes to the classic tremolo sound. The modulation setting is CRAZY!!! It changes the pitch of your note and works amazingly for a psychedelic breakdown. The chorus settings are pretty nice, great sound actually but I have a boss chorus pedal so I can use another spot on this pedal.Overall, if you want some great effects but don't want to buy each pedal individually then this pedal is perfect. A must for any psychedelic rocker out there. A bit pricey but deffinetly worth it.

Comments about Line 6 MM4 Modulation Guitar Effects Pedal:

i play rythem guitar in my band and i drench my sound in modulation effects. ive tryed about a million differant pedals and this thing is by far the best out there , the sounds are just as good as the originals, (i compared the phaser next to my phase 90 and couldnt tell the differance)the best part is i dont have to lug around 20 mod pedals and take and hour to set up, and hope that nothing craps out.. this thing dones it all very well!

Made to Last! (trust me)

By FingerMan420

Comments about Line 6 MM4 Modulation Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have owned this pedal for several years now. If you're thinking about getting it, do NOT forget the power plug (which is not included). The effects are great! The only thing I don't like is that you can only use 4 effects at a time and you can't double up on the effects. It does give you plenty of room to fully customize your sound. I use it with my bass to add that depth to the sound during solos and melodic songs. The quality of effects produced by this pedal are so similar to the original, it is almost impossible to tell the difference. I have even run it stereo and WOW! Really fun times. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to add a little umph to their sound. I sure have enjoyed this pedal.

Awesome sounds, quite diverse

By Donarskjold

Comments about Line 6 MM4 Modulation Guitar Effects Pedal:

I needed to upgrade from a Digitech Hyper Phaser, which is an awesome phaser pedal- but I needed more variation. This pedal offers chorus, flanger, phaser, and much more- and they are all tweakable! The sound is definitely comparable to Digitech. It has a hefty price tag, but much less than it would cost to buy separate stompboxes.

Great Pedal!!

By Shredder-N_8jK

from Portland, OR

Comments about Line 6 MM4 Modulation Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a great pedal and it sounds great! It comes with a manual that will show you how to set up the classic effect sounds. Program up to 4 effects, one for each footswitch. A benefit of this is that once your effects are set the way you want them, and stored by pressing and holding the foot switch that you want it to be accessed from on for a few seconds, it doesn't matter if the dials get moved around, say when your loading or unloading your equipment, just hit the footswitch and your settings are right there as you intended! On top of that, you get the classic Phase 90, and yes it does sound like VH, flanger, chorus and if you dig Scofield, set it up for a Leslie; although, I've heard that he cranks up an old Flang to get that effect, it sounds just like Scofield's set up! ;)Plus many other effects, vibrato, ring modulator etc etc, All for one great price!
