I bought this for 39 dollars at a guitar center. If you were to buy this and use it for its effects in front of your amp or something that wouldn't make much sense. For 40 or 50 bucks i would hope that you wouldn't be expecting anything incredible. I bought this so i could plug in headphones and practice at night, quietly. With the headphones plugged in it sounds very decent. Like i said for practice purposes, especially with the unit plugged in with headphones, i was rather surprised at first because i wasn't expecting it to sound as good as it did, for the money, its worth it. I don't really look at this as something that should be used for recording purposes or anything other than practice. Its just simply not up to parr for that. But for 40 or 50 dollars what else like this is??

The first one didn't work at all. I returned it for another one. It worked for 4 months and then just quit working. It was never dropped and treated gently. Junk.
There is no value in something that doesn't last longer than 4 months.

big bang for medium expectations

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Express Multi-Effects Processor:

I actually bought this to use with harmonica. I'm a keyboard player who doubles on harp and got tired of lugging my pedal board or harp amp around for 3 or 4 harp tunes a night; I've already got enough keyboard stuff to deal with. This thing is indeed a great value: I couldn't be happier with my intended use. For $50.00 you get great amp modeling, great delay, or reverb- and nice chorus or tremolo. No fuss to get tone up and running, don't need presets or 1000 different amp sims. The twang and crunch are great for harp and the spring reverb has that extra bit of magic dust I was looking for. For fun I plugged a couple of my vintage keyboards in (Rhodes EP stage 73 and a Clavinet D) and it was awesome and easy fun to get the typical rhodes through a fender twin sound. The tremolo (albeit in mono) is buttery and easy to dial in the traditional slow cycle rhodes suitcase sound. I really do wish it had a phaser instead of flange, but otherwise I'm satisfied. Back to harmonica: The input gain is ideal for a high impedance harp mic (as well as electro mechanical vintage keyboards) In the real world on actual gigs: It's a tad noisy if you crank it too hard on certain settings- but no worse than using my amp or stomp boxes. I usually run into a spare channel on my keyboard mixer. The sound guys I've encountered have also loved the direct out and commented on the tone, and if noisy they often can just mute or gate it until needed. For practice, love being able to use headphones with my harp. The interface is dead easy- and with my 40 plus eyesight I was never going to be able to use a Zoom or the more advanced Pods with a tiny menu anyway. Love the compact size as it easily fits in my harp box with my keyboard rig. Run it off a Dan Electro power supply - never even tried it with batteries. Seriously, if you just need the essentials, and want to get on with playing this thing is great. I'm totally happy, and so glad I didn't listen to the other negative reviews. Suggest you try it yourself before they are gone.

Great Value

By Deacon Billy-SXiVI

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Express Multi-Effects Processor:

This little box is a great value for those of us who don't like to go through fifteen minutes of entering code just to play a number. It is simplicity itself. Four little knobs. It has very useful chorus, reverb and distortion. You can get a wide range of commonly used effects out of it and get to them quickly and easily. Size is a plus as well. It will fit in the "gear box" of a Les Paul hard case. It does not have the hard edge of more expensive boxes but I don't play that way anyway. For those of us who use a touch of chorus and reverb most of the time and occasionally dial in a little distortion for lead, the box is perfect. And, at fifty bucks its a steal. Plus, you can plug in an MP3 player and a set of headphones and jam away at 2:00 am without disturbing the wife or neighbors.

The sound wasn't bad when using headphones, but my unit died after only a few plays. It's never worked since. I finally tossed it out. Steer clear of this product.

Built well but awful tone

By Low Country

from Chapel Hill, NC

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Express Multi-Effects Processor:

This version of pocket pod has awful tone. The amp modeling is not appreciably different and the effects are flat. The concept is great ... simple to use and portable. The sound is bland and uninteresting ... a giant step back from the Pocket Pod (which is excellent).

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Express Multi-Effects Processor:

This product is junk. Take the advise of others and buy the regular pocket pod which is a good tool for practice. I have own both the pocket pod and pocket pod express. The express sound horrible and basically useless.

Get real guys- this Line 6 Pocket Pod is inexpensive and small. Treat it with care and only expect what it is designed for. Buy it, use it and enjoy it. In this industry you can pay thousands for tone altering equipment while this one will give you some good vibes for about the price of a steak dinner.
