I've had this amp for about 8 years and it's been a champ. It's a great beginner amp. It hasn't died out on me or given me any problems. I learned guitar on this amp and as I progressed I was able to use more of the available effects/options that this amp gives. I still use it today to practice with. The only downside is that I can't get the tone that I want. It either lacks or has too much of something and its been hard to tweak it just right. I guess it's just the limitations that this amp has and the fact that it has so much unnecessary stuff into it, but like i said before, it's a great beginner amp to get you started. I'm glad I was able to get one of these when I did.

Got this amp about a month ago in my search for the tone I want. For the first two weeks, it was a lot of fun playing around with the effects. After that, though, I only used two of the 7 master effects (clean and insane), and search through that, I really couldn't get the lead tone I wanted (I play lead guitar for a progressive metal band).Played through it with an Ibanez RG, and an ESP F207 7-string with 7-string EMG 81's. It can be very loud.Effects are not subtle at all. I gave up on trying to add chorus or phaser to my lead because it was either non at all or too much. I managed to get a decent tape echo for my solo lead channel after about 30 minutes of tweaking, though. Doesn't like effects pedals. I even used the Line 6 UberMetal, and it started crackling at high gain. It seems to hate the wahs, too (Dunlop original). I think I will try replacing the speakers with something better before giving up completely. Overall, this amp seems great in the store. That feeling wears off after a little playing around with it, though. Save up and get yourself a Mesa/Boogie rectifier, or some other all-tube amp.

An essay on the Spider II 212 Combo Amp

By the-magic-bag

from Novi, MI

This is the first amp i got. I learned how to play guitar on this amp and for years i thought this is the greatest amp i have every played out of. The features on this amp are really interesting. On this amp you get a chrous/flage setting a phaser and a tremelo. On another knob you control your delay time, tape echo, and sweep echo. You also get a reverb knob to adjust to your liking. The only bad thing about this amp is that it's hard to find a really good tone that i like. I've messed around for hours on this amp looking for the right tone. The tone i get through this amp i feel is the best its ever going to get. You also get a knob that takes you through different amp setting a clean/twang/blues/crunch/metal/insane-all of these settings are meant to be duplicated of other amp tones, it says so in the manual. The only way to get full control of this product is with the purchase of the FBV-Shortboard. This amp has been worth every penny, my band is in the studio right now and im satisfied with the way this amp sounds through a mic, and live. Its a beginner-novice amp i think. I got my sights on the Fender"65" re-issue Super Reverb amp perfect tone baby!!!!

Rockin Amp!

By line6addict18

This amp is amazing! The flexibility of tones you can get out of this thing is great if you want to get a variety of tones out of a single amp. It's got pretty good effects built in also. Its loud as hell too, I've never cranked it up past half way. I've had this thing for about 4 years now and have had no problems at all with it, still rocking as hard as the day I got it. I would recommend it to any one, whatever style you play, you can get that tone from this amp. Line6 gear is the best

The best combo amp iv'e ever bought

By Ray-dOnTM

from Florida

I just got this amp back in october. It's really helped me out with my on stage experience. It's effects and sound is pure as a marshall. But don't be fooled this a loud one! Earplugs required. So irated this amp 10 for it is the best combo amp around.

More than enough sound.

By Guitaris8217

from South Florida

The amp is amazing to say the least. It is unbelievably loud. The day after I bought it, I took it to my backyard and tried to make it as loud as possible but I couldn't get it past 4 without having the insides of my body and house start to shake. The effects are ok for having them built on the amp but they can be better. My first impression on the amp is that it sucks (well the amp models, IMO.) After playing around with the sounds, I found the perfect sound that fits my playing style. The only thing I don't like about this amp is how the clean sounds...it's not that great, but it's good enough.

Great For Punk and Metal

By Mopar Scott

from California, MD

Only had this amp for a week now, but I am very pleased with it. My Fender Tele with dual DiMarzio humbuckers sound absolutely awesome. It has Great tone and is very easy to use. I would only really use this for punk or metal. Though I have played through all the AMP MODELS and am really impressed with all of them except INSANE RED LIGHT ON... I cannot think of any practical use for this setting at all.The only down side is the SMART CONTROL FX. I can only get a good sound with Chorus Flangs but then again this is probably just me. This is my first amp with these options so I probably just do not have it set right for them. Also this amp sounds totally horrid when played with head phones. My Head Phones are CREATIVE and came with my DELL PC so that is probably why. Maybee with better ones it would sound better.Overall the greatist amp I have owned and I have had CRATE, MARSHALL, and FENDER. I would very highly recommend this amp for anyone playing any kind of ROCK..It is the best value and a great amp. Since I do not play BLUES or CLEAN music I would say to go and check it out for yourself then.

Awsome Amp

By Shredder2269

from oshawa,ontario

I just got this amp for christmas about 3 weeks ago. I love all the efects that they have put into it, and my friends love that insane setting especially. It has really good distortion, but I usually only use the clean, metal, and insane settings. It also goes super loud good for small gigs. I use a jackson DK2 Dinky and it sounds amazing, and it has good tones. This is a really great amp so far.
