Amp Models:

Clean

Red LED: Crisp, shimmering clean tones and warm jazz tones.
Green LED: Glassy clean tones like those from the late 60s/early 70s. Inspired by a '73 Hiwatt Custom 100.

Twang

Red LED: Classic, glassy high-end with some snap and bite. Inspired by a Fender blackface '65 Twin Reverb and a blackface '64 Deluxe Reverb.
Green LED: Swingin' rockabilly tone a la vintage tweed. Inspired by a '53 Fender tweed Deluxe Reverb, a '58 Fender tweed Bassman, and a '60 Gibson Explorer.

Blues

Red LED: From gritty, swampy clean tones to syrupy smooth drive tones this was inspired by a mix of a '65 Marshall JTM-45, a '58 Fender Bassman, a '63 Fender Vibroverb, and a Supro.
Green LED: Early British rock tone made famous by the Beatles and the Stones. Inspired by a fawn Vox AC-30 with an updated and expanded tone control circuit.

Crunch

Red LED: Classic crunchy tone popularized by many early metal bands. Inspired by a '68 Marshall Plexi 50-watt.
Green LED: The infamous brown sound inspired by a '68 Marshall Plexi 100-watt with a few added extras - jumped input channels and a Variac transformer.

Metal

Red LED: Tight and punchy high-gain sound inspired by a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier.
Green LED: Use this for aggressive high-gain sound. The mid knob sweeps the tone spectrum. Set to minimum for fuzz-pedal characteristics, set to noon for creamy, modern high-gain, or crank it for Class A carnage.

Insane

Red LED: Famed and feared bone-crushing, brain-piercing grind inspired by the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier red channel.
Green LED: Short of a complete meltdown, this provides as much input-gain distortion as possible while retaining tonal definition and character.

Effects:

Spend more time playing and less time tweaking with Smart Control FX. Find the effect you want, turn the knob to the desired intensity, and you're done. Spider Jam offers seven effects, including dedicated Reverb, to choose from, and you can use up to three at a time. They include:

The Spiderjam lives up to its' advertising on all points-is easy to use, and a value among modeling amps. Its' recording in/out feature is worth the price of admission alone!
The Line 6 spiderjam lives up to all the hype-and then some! The amplifier models have the richness and depth of the differing models they were composed from, with extensive tone capabilities from the intuitive controls, right on top of the amplifier where they should be! Anything from warm and supple jazz cleans to the nastiest metal or shred is only a quick dial turn away! Drive and master controls are immenently useful and straightforward. And, there is a built in chromatic tuner!
The onboard effects-reverb, chorus, delay, etc.- are good, solid, and thoroughly useful, and the dial controls offer many shades of tone variation within the effect. In addition, The amplifier models each have a preset within these to make that particular model sparkle, although you can change it over to your own setting with a mere turn of the dial. In addition, there are good onboard equalizers and other great tone controllers/enhancers that really make recording with Spiderjam a dream! (More about recording later!)
The presets- song based, artist based, time period based, style based,- and the jams, drum loops, and tone presets thereof; are a complete and joyful trip in themselves! They are adjustable in pitch by moving up or down in half-tone increments (Be forwarned; the one caveat: move them up too much and they will get a helium effect-the beat tempo goes up with the key change, but again, no-one else seems to be able to stop this on these stand alone units, either!) and there are literally hundreds of choices, be you a rock, jazz, country, alt player, or any style in between! All of them are real band jams, and are professionally produced and performed. I'm still trying them out, but all I've tried have been great!
The recording and looping features are one of the top reasons to buy this baby-they perform as advertised, and more! Good clean recordings, with natural sound, whether on your own, or using the built-in jams! Inputs are available to run in other instruments (even keyboards!) or a microphone-you could create a convincing demo with this, and then burn it to c.d. with the aux out provided for that purpose! And as well, a whopping 30- plus minutes of recording time! A joy to practice with! I played a recording I made with it of a jazz piece, for a classic era jazz fan, and they couldn't believe the authentic tone!
The Spiderjam is a very solidly built amplifier, too, and its' 12 inch Celestion custom speaker, and 2 inch tweeter, can handle it, and dish it out! It can very convincingly convey the tones of even an acoustic/electric guitar, better than many more expensive amplifiers. At 75 watts, it will be a formidable club gigging amp!
I could go on and on, but, may I refer you to the Line 6 web site, as well as many video demonstrations on the web elsewere, and I think you will be convinced as I was. This is my amp, Line 6 is pointing the way to the future, and my next stop will be a Line 6 Tyler variax!
Thank you Line 6, for the best amp I've ever owned, and thank you Musicians friend, for the great deal, and fast, free shipping! Rock on, everyone!

I have not used the amp much but have had recurring problems with it "freezing up" when I did. I would hear a loud pop from the speaker and it would be dead. Sometimes it would take several power cycles before it rebooted properly and worked again for a while.

Just recently it started to make an annoying humming noise when turned on. The hum is independent of power source, inputs, settings or volume. Something in the circuitry has gone bad. Factory reset had no impact.

Even without the loud hum, there is also a white noise hiss when the amp volume is turned up that is exceptionally loud and annoying.

The microphone input for me was almost useless for vocals. I never could get decent vocal output and reverted back to a twenty something year old Peavy powered mixer for my mic PA system.

What can I say, a lesson learned. I'll salvage the speaker and what parts may be useful. The rest is going into the landfill. It's 3 months out of warranty.

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I just bought this amp with the Line 6 FBV short board; they work well together of course. The amp is a lot of fun with the looper and presets and the endless ways you can tweak your tone. I love the amp but there are a few things which could be better.

You must use a 2 gig or smaller SD card or it reboots if you try to save to a bigger card. So just get a bunch of small Sd cards before they are unavailable--only a few places still have them--which is kind of a pain.

It does record nice but I haven't figured out how to record the mic input and the guitar input at the same time, so I always have to do two tracks. There is a switch which switches the input for recording back and forth from mic input to guitar jack.

With the short board you can turn the looper and presets on on the fly, but you must put the foot pedal in the recording mode, and when the FBV is in the record mode you have to switch it back to channel mode to switch different guitar tones. So to switch to a different guitar tone you have to do another track to reset it.

Anyway, I just thought these few drawbacks could have been easily figured out and fixed. Hopefully the next generation can take the more available SD cards, record more than one track at a time, and make the FVB do all the functions in one mode.

However, it's nice having all the gimmicks for having fun in one package. Even thought I give it four stars instead of five, it "is" worth the low price, and I would buy it again knowing what I know now.

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I would have given it five stars, but it takes a little time to learn how to use it, but the book and the youtube videos really help. Too, it will only take up to a 2G SD card. If you try a bigger one the amp will reboot every time you try to save a file to it, so make sure you use a 2G SD or smaller. Other than those two things it is an awesome tool. The mic input makes it a small PA too, so it is all you need to do solo gigs. I love it!

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is good for the bedroom guitarist or somebody that never plays out and could benefit to have the backing tracks. This amp will not impress the seasoned guitarist and will not surprise you on the quality. It's exactly what you would expect from a Line6
The basics are easy to work. You can start a backing track, record yourself playing with it, and can adjust the tone pretty quickly. It takes a lot more time and effort to dial in the right tone. You can get close very easy, but dialing it in is pretty difficult.
I will give it credit, the reverb is very impressive compared to what I was expecting.
Not bad, not Good, for the money I'd look around for something a little different.

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I upgraded from a Marshall (which I genuinely dislike). This Line 6 is an amazing amp. So many choices on the sound you can get out of it, any metal tone, any clean tone and whatever is in between. For me, Dream Theater's sound is what I was going for and i got it perfectly without the complexity of a Mesa and the price of it. It comes with jam tracks and drum machines and built in sounds. The presets are only good to take and make your own out of them. Really simple amp to use, which was great for me because I don't have the patience to adjust the amp for hours. Only negative thing about this I would say is it is really heavy. other than that, for the price you will never find an amp better than this. Get it.

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

The initial Spider Jam I received would cut out occasionally as if someone was flipping the power off and on real quick. I called Musicians Friend and they were real cool about it. They sent me shipping label to ship it back (free) and immediately shipped me new one. New one is EXCELLENT! No problems at all. Has a lot of great effects pre programmed in for easy use. Want to play Hendrix? Dial up Red House. Want ZZ Top? Dial up Blue Jean Blues. It's that easy. Also, very easy to make multi-track recordings. Doesn't take the place of recording equipment, but having this capability built into amp makes it really easy to record. I've been playing rythm for years, but not much lead. This amp has built in rythm loops you can play along with, even tells you what key they're in. This has taken me to the next level. By playing along with some of these rythm loops, my guitar playing has improved more in the last 3 months than in the previous 10 years!!

This amp has an absolutly horrible tone in every way minus cleans. The presets are all terrible and sound nothing like their supposed to be. Want to use a distortion pedal? Well, too bad. This amp sound way too bad to use those. The only thing this amp is good for is cleans or fire wood.
