OVERVIEW

Excellent sound controls, quality speakers, and a solid design.

The Markbass CMD 102P is a tilt-back bass combo amplifier that has a built-in Little Mark II solid state preamp to give you more power. To help shape your sound, the CMD 102P bass amp gives you a 4-band EQ, as well as VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) and VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) filters for control.

The Markbass CMD 102P amp's I/O includes an input that can handle both passive and active basses, and extra XLR balanced input for double bass pickups, Neutrik Speakon Combo out jacks for use with 1/4" or Speakon speaker cables, a tuner out jack for sending unbalanced signals to a tuner, amp, or other recording equipment, and Send and Return Effect jacks to ensure your main signal continues even if something dies in your effects chain. This versatile bass combo has an angled cabinet so that you can use it as a floor model or in the more traditional vertical position. Either way, you're going to get a warm, natural sound from the 2 B&C 10" speakers and the piezo tweeter. And if you add an external cab via the outputs, the CMD 102P combo amp will give you enough sound to fill a large venue with headroom to spare.

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

Let me guess, you need the big warm sound of an all tube rig with an 8X10 to fill out the sound at the stadium show you are playing this Saturday. Oh wait! You're playing at the local bar this weekend? Thought so. Enter Markbass CMD 102P. This combo has warmth and guts. It's as loud as my drummer turned up to a stingy 1.5. The sound is clear, tight and precise, which may be a downside to some players. Every bit of attack and articulation comes through and this combo won't cover up slop in your playing. It's tuned about halfway in-between punchy and round. Everyone has a subjective opinion about what type of bass sound is best, but for portabililty and sound quality this one is hard to beat (and belive me, I'm a bass prima donna). This combo really brings out the natural sound of your bass, and every instrument I've played through it sounds like itself. It sounds even thicker with an extension cab, but I don't feel the need to haul one to any of the gigs I play. Why does this combo make me angry? Because I've spent so many years hauling around 300lb stacks when I could have just bought one of these. It is lighter, cheaper and sounds better than either of the two high end setups (Ampeg and Mesa) I've hauling around. This looks like an expensive practice amp on paper, but for what you get it's a steal. PS- buy the compressore too.

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

I've been Jone'zn for this Amp for years. I got to try out a friends, so I knew I dug it. Here's what I like. It's the best sounding amp I've ever had. Very warm, but you can tweak it anyway you want. Really light. The older I get, the more light my equipment gets. Throws plenty of air for me. Even when your doing a large venue and your going through the P.A.. On big shows I've always considered the amp to be my onstage monitor, and let the soundman (if he's good)take care of the long throw sound. In fact, most soundmen that I've run across really want as little volumes from the stage as they can get so they can control the overall mix. That being said, I'm gonna try a little experiment (At the Kidchella Concert in Redwood City) in a couple of weeks. I'm gonna put the amp (tilted back) in front of me, on the monitor row. I'll let you know how it worked out, but I think it'll be a win win. One, last thing. For the last few years I've been using an Ampeg B2R wtih an Avatar 4 X 10, tweeter cab. The Markbass Combo seems to move just as much air. Anyway, I'm a Happy Camper and so is my back.

Best sounding combo going; amazing tonal range utilizing VLE and VPF controls ; brought my P-Bass to life from funk to soul to rock and back again. Excellent clarity across all sonic ranges and really cuts through the mix ; easy to carry from gig to gig; looking forward to matching this combo to a Markbass NY 122 extension cab and really rocking a large venue this summer .

Just awesome!!! The most perfectly crafted amp. Built and designed for working musicians. By far the most clean, tight, punchy, warm, loud amp I've owned. One thing I have not read about in any other review is this amps ability to give all frequencies equal power. Pick a string, pick a fret, doesn't matter, it wil cut through the mix. Just buy it and stop the search for perfect tone!

Let me start by saying that I am a guitar player for 20 yrs and have starting playing bass the last couple so I did a lot of homework to come up with the right amp to fit my needs and not break my back doing so! With that being said I bought the markbass 2-10 combo and not only is my tone fat I have a lot of room to cut through a mix without clipping. I just recently hooked a 4-10 ampeg to it also and could not believe the power and tone ! Hands down a great purchase!the one added thing that I put in line was the mark bass compressore pedal which took a great amp to wow!

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

Bought mine based solely on the reviews and they were correct, excellent amp. Used alone it seemed very punchy, almost a little too much, but when when hooked to an extension cab, it really rounds out the sound and splits the load between the combo and the cab. Very satisfied.

This little 2X10 combo is punchy, warm and has a big sound when needed. It has a lot of power if you choose to add on at any point but i'm enjoying the 2X10's. It's a safe buy, as they say....you get what you pay for.

After getting this amp, I have had nothing but compliments on how great my bass rig sounds!! Don't let the light weight and small size fool you--this amp THUMPS, I use it in medium size bars & clubs, with plenty of headroom left, super clean tone--my bass has never sounded so good to me. I do not know how the variable phase filter works--but work it does!! It gives such a warm low tone. All my bass buddies that have played through it are jelous, one told me that this amp will make anyone sound good.

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

Had an Eden combo that I thought sounded good, but was to heavy to carry very far and took up way to much room in my vehicle. Read all the great reviews and took the plunge. Believe what other people are saying about this amp.Impressive.

This is a great amp, it is louder then my Eden that had a 10" and a 15" in it. I miss the parametric EQ on the Eden a bit but the controls on the Markbass are straight forward and offer tons of adjustments. I really missed the built in compression on the Eden though as my less the professional playing really stood out when I miss hit a note, so couple days later I figured might as well get the Markbass Compressore and WOW.. I mean WOW did this amp come alive.. its like playing bass for the first time.. the tone that comes out of my P-bass was indescribable.

The kickback design allows me to hear myself better then before at lower volume and should make stage sound much more controllable.

Do not let the price dissuade you from buying this as it would take that amount to get a comparable sound out and would not be even remotely as portable.

One side note is the light on the amp is RIDICULOULSY bright, can barely see controls in dim room.. same with the pedal.. looks cool but could give you a suntan..

I've been playing bass for 40 years, and have owned my Markbass 102P for about a year. This thing is simply amazing, and all the amp I need 95% of the time. The positive comments on it from those I'm playing with and for just don't stop. I have no complaints, just thumbs-up with a big grin. My recommendation: Buy it.
