Comments about Markbass Micromark 801 50W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
I play upright Jazz bass. I play 4 gigs or more each week. I have used this amp on two gigs so far. A piano trio (electric piano, drums, bass) and a bass piano duo. It did very well on both. I found it works best about 2 feet off the floor.
This little thing is pretty amazing. I use an Underwood straight into the 801 and it's pretty darn good. Very smooth high end. The volume put out by this amp is good and can be used in a variety of gigs. The temptation would be to use it in a situation that is louder than it can handle but I could just throw another speaker in the car just in case. I'm glad I bought it and I will use it a lot. It sounds better than I thought it would. It's so light.

Comments about Markbass Micromark 801 50W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
I use the MicroMark 801 for songwriting sessions and "quiet room" acoustic gigs (drummer on a Cajon, acoustic guitar player(s), and singers). I usually pair it with an Ovation Nikki Sixx acoustic bass or a '73 Jazz. Fits in the mix beautifully. More sold tone than you can believe from such a small enclosure. Would certainly not use as my main rig, but perfect in certain situations.

Comments about Markbass Micromark 801 50W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
Great practice amp. Very light weight and excellent tone. I play bass in an 18 piece big band and this amp has enough power to keep up in our practice room. Not enough for a gig, but I really like not having to lug my larger Markbass amp to practice and it has enough power to be heard. Highly recommended as a practice amp

Comments about Markbass Micromark 801 50W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
While I play guitar, keyboards, drums and do vocals, I also play bass and have wanted a quality little amp to enjoy at home or anywhere I wanna take it. At first I almost decided to get one of those hundred dollar jobs like an entry level Ampeg or whatever but I kept looking and stumbled upon this cool little amp. This quality Italian made cube is fun to play and I love that it only has two knobs because it truly sounds wonderful. The volume knob and VPF are all you need to sound great imo. If you want an aggressive funk bass like Red Hot Chili Peppers, turn the VPF low or off. If you want a nice butter smooth low midrange scoop then turn up the VPF. Having only two knobs allows you to play instead of worry about having to tweak a tone into perfection. This cool combo will get loud for home playing although I'm not sure if it would keep up with live drums unless using a larger cab. Small venues and coffee houses could work fine.
Not really cons but three things to mention. The Bright blue power LED could be annoying in a dark room. The spring-loaded handle on top pops back down pretty quickly. The cooling fan on rear isn't silent but isn't really that loud.
All in all a great little bass amp that will last for years to come. It ain't cheap but its made in Italy and has the quality & sound to back it up. I can't wait to try recording it using the line out jacks and micing it. Markbass is a great company and I'm glad to finally get to own one. Simple with great tone plus portable was just the ticket.

Comments about Markbass Micromark 801 50W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
I was in the market to get a small Bass Amp for Casual Acoustic Gigs and to have a small portable Amp I can practice with at Home or at a friends. The MicroMark 801 nailed both of these jobs perfect. To compared to the original Micromark 6inch which I tested out, the Power is slightly increased from 50w to 80w. A port is added to the box allowing a smoother sound and the product to run cooler. A VPF control has been added (Which is MarkBass' control of the extreme highs and lows. I feel it lets you switch between a funkier high sound, to a smooth "jazzy" lower sound. Its decent). Compared to Other Amps of the same quality and/or size MicroMark 801 seems to take the cake. It weighs less then 12lbs, better then anyother Brands "Portable Bass Amps". All other Portable Bass Amps of its size that I tested Failed in matching its power and sound quality. To be fair if you dont mind carrying around something about 5 times as heavy you can find quality 10inch speaker/amp combos, but nothing I found was this portable with this quality.Price Wise, I truely think you get what you pay for in this case. Honestly I wasnt planning on spending [$] on my "practice amp", but this Won me over. I feel the extra $50-$100 is worth it when deciding between this and the Micromark original 6inch. If you literally just want a simple beginer Amp, this may be a little pricey. But if you plan on having a quality PORTABLE amp you can use at a Cafe for Acoustic gigs, that sounds smooth and is simple to use I would say shoveling the extra $150- $200 might be your best bet.My Final Thoughts, Pros: This Amp Sounds great and you get what you pay for. The Amp is Extremely portable and has power for its size which sold me. Its Speaker Box is made of wood, which helps give it great sound and be a QUALITY product unlike like some of the cheap lowend portable amps out there. There is a switch to turn off the 8in Speaker, allowing you to use the Amp by itself. You can then plug into a bigger Speaker cab for a louder sound, or plug in a headset and practice with out disturbing anyone. Last you can directly plug into recording equipment which helps record quality sounds bass lines (which I also found really useful). Cons: This little 8in Speaker is not powerful enough to play with Drums and Amped Electric Guitars (unless you output it to a speaker cab, which I havent had a chance to try just yet but seems like it may work decent). There is a Lack of sound features, besides the VPF controls (which do make a noticable diffrence in my opinion) you only get a Volume/Gain switch; So what you set out of your Bass Guitar is basically what sound your gonna get. Last I have to say the Price for a simple Portable Amp is High (however this is under both Cons and Pros because I feel the high price is justified, but I could see it steer some people away who are just looking for a small practice amp)Hope this Helped some of you out! I really did look into a bit of Amps before deciding on this one, also I wanted to read a review on it and was sad to see none on Muscians Friends (Whos users I trust thanks everyone!) so I figured I could help some of you out and return the favor. Heres to Happy Jamming!
