OVERVIEW

A versatile bass combo that sounds great and works everywhere.

The Markbass 150W Minimark solid-state bass combo is even more sonically impressive than its heralded predecessor, with an incredible warm and focused sound thanks to the two 8" custom woofers and an onboard piezo tweeter.

The Minimark 802 is a brilliant choice for rehearsing, practicing, teaching and recording, and, with 150W of rumble, it's powerful enough for gigs. It is also ideal for double bass and acoustic bass, with a faithful reproduction of acoustic instruments.

Comments about Markbass Minimark 802 150W 2x8 Bass Combo Amp:

Just purchased this for my all around amp and I couldn't be happier!! It's all the power I need for small venues (outdoor included because it packs a punch for such a light-weight unit) and the line out paired with the PA subs and mains works great for the big venues! So that is the practical aspect of it, as far as the tone is concerned it is a beast. The two tone knobs are great for dialing in your sound (not quite as good as a full range EQ but you can get great tone with just a small amount of adjustments). Pairing this with the Mark Bass 15" extension cab (dropping the system to 4 Ohms and bumping the amp to 250 Watts) allows for room to grow and will rattle your entire neighborhood! If you're on the fense about this purchase I would highly recomend it, well worth every penny!

Comments about Markbass Minimark 802 150W 2x8 Bass Combo Amp:

I am primarily a guitar player, this is only the second bass amp that I have ever owned. It is a good little amp that will serve my needs well. It is light and portable and overall has very good tone and punch. Only drawback is that the tone shaping controls on the amp are very minimal. I ended up running the bass through a preamp with tone controls to overcome this issue. The preamp also added some volume which helped. Without it, even in my apartment I was running the amp up near the max end of the volume control.

Comments about Markbass Minimark 802 150W 2x8 Bass Combo Amp:

This little combo opens the gate to a missing link : 8'' drivers, and 2 of them !
The amp section is extremely simple : volume and Markbass's trademark 2 eq shaping knobs - VLE (vintage loudspeaker emulator) behaves pretty much like the tone rolloff knob on your passive bass, and the VPF (variable preshape filter) "smile-shaped" eq is boosting both bass and treble while scooping the mids. A combination of both will get quite close to a typical tube amp sound. But there's a but : it can be a bit too much bass heavy but there's no way to turn them down.
Also, one thing the user's manual does not say is that the amp will go into heavy compression at high volumes - which is kind of welcome, as it protects amp and speakers and gives that sagging tube amp dynamic sound - but at the limit it really does pump like crazy, so if that is not to your taste you'll be annoyed...
But worst of all is the non-adjustable piezo tweeter : while at low to medium volumes it gives that nice treble edge, at high output it becomes hissy (especially with VPF turned up) and starts to spit out really horrible distorted transients that do completely ruin the sound of the 2 excellent 8'' drivers : I can't believe Markbass could let that thing hit the market without a tweeter control knob !

Comments about Markbass Minimark 802 150W 2x8 Bass Combo Amp:

this very small unit has very limited sonic capability.you eithe rlike or you don't.I like it.It can't be pushed that is to say turn up the volume at a gig. rock drummer will just crush this little amp.however for quiet medium sized rooms w/acoustic instruments it is ideal.small footprint warm sound light weight.as an older player those appeal to me and the type of gigs I work.gigs that pay good money and demand professional quailty sound.for bigger gigs I step up to a markbass 12" combo.

I have used almost every amp brand on the market. Markbass is by far the best tone and lightweight amp I have ever used. Same cliche, you get what you pay for.
