This is a GOOD amp. I've had it for a year now, and it hasn't failed. It has a Frequency Dependent Dampening switch so even though it's a solid state amp, it CAN sound a bit like a tube amp. I almost bought a tube screamer but then read that they are designed to overdrive a TUBE amp... I ended up buying a BOSS Fender Bassman 59 pedal. The clean channel sounds crisp and full, and makes my american strat sound like it should. The Bassman 59 pedal on the clean channel is pretty much like blues heaven. The overdrive channel on this amp is decent. Not so great for what I play. It screams at high gain, but that's really not what I'm into. Overall though, it's a good amp and I'd recommend it for alternative to hard rock guitarists. Blues players may need some other gear to make it sound good.

I have used this and the 50dfx. I'm sorry to say but they aren't up to par, especially this one for the price. Do not be impressed by the volume, There are many other amps that cost around the same amount that can perform way better and with flying colors, whether for practice or performance. I suggest shopping around and playing amps and listening to the tone than looking at the Amp Logo, cliche but it's a serious suggestion. Marshall makes some good amps but this is not one of them.First the lead tone sounds terrible, even when messing with the contour, using more bass just makes it muddy and the treble makes it sound ear piercing. I guess the contour is for Mid scoop/Mid boosting but whatever you do with it the quality is relatively low. The Dynamics of your playing feel smothered and it seriously lacks any depth you will desire after playing for a good while. The clean tone isn't something you'll feel like using either. It can sound gentle and chimey when playing soft but sounds awful and harsh if you decide to strum or play a little harder rather than giving it crunch or a rhythm groove. Overall it's kind of flat and boring.

    Please save your money.

I bought this because I wanted a decent solid state amp for my room so I could get some different tones than my Classic 30. Well, I have played it for 20 minutes and I'm ready to return it. It's awful. The cleans make your ears bleed and the only distortion you can get is shrill, and painful sounding. No matter what channel you're on, it sounds like the treble is pegged at 10. You can't even hear what notes are playing when the overdrive is on. Terrible. Don't be tempted to buy it just because it's a cool looking half stack. Get a Peavey Classic 30.

    Great Amp for the price.

You're not going to find a better deal. Believe me, I've looked. Had mine for a month so far and no problems what so ever. It sounds so good it makes me want to play ALL the time and learn more songs. It's not a tube amp and you wont get a tube amp for this price. This thing is knock your walls down loud but I never exceed volume @ 1 using it for a practice amp (which it works great for.) Very achievable tones for Pink Floyd, ACDC, Iron Maiden etc. Very friendly service and fast shipping. Thanks!

    Just Right

I used to use a Boss Metal Core Distortion pedal but now that I got this half stack, I don't need it anymore! I'm into metal and that's what I play, and with the right EQ settings, this amp is perfect. Try: Gain 10, Bass 10, Middle 1, Trebel 9, Contour 10. The combined sound of this amp and my Gibson Explorer make a perfect match! The price is great as well.

This is an amazing amp. People say the effects are great or they're bad because it's opinion. Don't buy it for effects. Get digitech to go with this. I use a les paul and it's 100% perfect for almost anything.

    bad amp, HORRIBLE PRICE

    By sam the man..

    from ontario

I bought this amp as my first amp and I would have to say its the worst amp, I have ever heard, the effects are very bad, for this price I could have bought a peavey vypyr which is 100x better then this amp.

    Big Bang for buck!

    By guitarsonist-Xf7Uv

I bought this amp last week. It was a toss up between the purple marshall and a line-6. I will admit that the line-6 had it topped as far as the effects, but the overall tone on the marshall had me sold. I bought it as soon as I got done playing on it! If you are looking for a good gig-worthy amp that wont kill your budget, play through one of these and you wont be dissapointed! Nice effects w/ celestian speakers makes one awesome package. This is my first marshall and I must say that I am very pleased!

Great amp for a great price

    By Dan-ETxOf

I went to try this amp at my local guitar store, and I was blown away by it. It has great tone. The effects on it are great too. It is limited edition, so that makes it even better. I recommend you get this amp, it is worth the money

    just awesome!

    By poopoo45

I couldnt be happier with this thing! marshall could do more with the fx on it, but other than that its more than I could ask for. It's loud, alotta distortion, and its worth the price. PLUS its the limited eddition, so the purple looks sweet too. Buy this thing, you won't be disapointed.
