I've owned many speaker cabs over the years and always end up back to Marshall. I own a 100w JCM900SL-X and a 50w JCM2000 DSL and a Mesa Boogie Roadster. Each of these has a different tone thru it but none are bad. The DSL really shines thru it tho and my Mesa takes it to sonic mayhem. My 900 sounds better thru 2X12 I think. The Celestion Vintage speakers can handle anything I throw at it and I throw ALOT ! Whether you like your sound with scooped mid's, high treble, GAIN galore or MEGA bass, this sucker puts your sound in others faces ! Built like a tank with their iconic "MARSHALL" name emblazened on the front, people will know you know quality music equipment and also know you mean buisness on 1st sight ! For guys like me without the luxury of roadies, the casters make it simple to move after a rough night of playing out. ONLY drawback, which isn't really a problem, was it's price BUT, quality costs ! And I'll never need to buy another one long as I'm good to it ! Don't gamble on your tone with crappy 4X12's man, WHY have a 1K head running into a cheap bottom ? JUST GET A ONE and hear the difference ! Then use your other 4X12 as a mixing board table. THIS SITE ROCKS US/U.S. ONE NOTE AT A TIME !

I am a bassist who needed to upgrade from a awful behringer. Since my dad is a guitarist, and had this creation in the basement, I decided to plug it up. Using a 100 watt epiphone head, my Jazz, Precision, and even my Thunderbird sound amazing! It gives a full, round tone with out distorting. It can take power and won't blow up. If you have the money, buy it! The Marshall legacy will not let you down.
Comments about Marshall 1960AV or 1960BV 280W 4x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:
I recently purchased a Hughes & Kettner Switchblade head so I needed a cabinet that could make it sing! I took it to a huge local music store so I could try it with multiple cabinets from different manufacturers. I played through a 4 X 12 cabinet from Randall, Line 6, Egnater, Peavey, Marshall (AV, lead and MC412) and Krank. They all sounded good. But when I plugged amp into the 1960 Vintage, birds sang, the heavens opened and I wept!! I finally found the sound I was looking for. It was magic. Clear highs, punchy lows and just enough midrange to make it honest. It's clear enough that you can hear each time the pick hits the string. It'll definitely make me have to play cleaner. I took it to practice (classic rock, hard rock cover band) and the guys thought they were listening to an Iron Maiden album. It was loud!!! So loud that 2 of the guys now wear ear plugs. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars across the board is that when I took the cabinet out of the back of the SUV, it hit the bumper and scraped the tolex a bit. I didn't think I hit it that hard to make that kind of scratch. So now it's broken in and I'll just have to be a little more careful when moving it. If you have a H & K Switchblade head, this IS the cabinet for you. No question.
Comments about Marshall 1960AV or 1960BV 280W 4x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:
I match this with an earlier 2 channel Mesa boogie dual rectifier and the thing is awesome. As I couldnt afford a rectifier cab and had tried the standard cab which I found to be muddy as hell I saw this had the speakers I wanted (vintage 30s) but was a decent price so I went for the mis-match in makes and couldnt be happier handles the high gain rock sounds really really well with such great clarity. Great cab
Comments about Marshall 1960AV or 1960BV 280W 4x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:
I purchased the 1960BV and was a little worried about how this cab would sound. I've had Marshall 1960a cabs before that sounded dull to me. I've also had the 1960AV which was nice but not as full and deep sounding as the 1960BV. Before ordering this I was using my Marshall DSL 50 with a Mesa Standard 4x12. Sounded very nice but I wanted a marshall cab to match the head. When I received it and hooked it up I was very happy with the sound. Usually the speakers need to break in and loosen up but it sounded great right from the start. Very nice bottom-end, warmth and clarity.
Comments about Marshall 1960AV or 1960BV 280W 4x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:
This is an exceptionally well designed Cabinet. I bought the straight BV model which is the straight cabinet and if you pay close attention to the sound it provides more bass and a fuller sound than the straight because there is more air to move inside of the cabinet. The 8ohm Celestion Vintage 30's are incredibly smooth and clear at all volumes. I found that the cabinet is the perfect volume. The cabinets with the greenbacks are quite nice but they only go up to 100 watts and the 100watt tube heads that they are matched with often go far beyond 100watts and can sound messy and cluttered at higher volumes. I hope to have a wall of these someday
Comments about Marshall 1960AV or 1960BV 280W 4x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:
No in-depth review here, just offering my $.02 after owning it for a month. Sounds excellent with the Marshall JVM410H head. I think this cab is mostly about upper midrange. I can see where some may find the upper mids a bit overpowering after a while, but that's also the frequency area that makes this cab cut through live mixes a bit better than the standard 1960 with the GT1275's. I didn't care for the scooped and trebly sound of the 1960A and TSL100 I used to have a few years ago. I find the 1960AV an excellent match for the JVM. I don't have a problem with the quality of Marshall's cabs, but I can say they're not the highest quality, at least not on par with Bogner or Mesa cabinets. Then again, those cabs cost a lot more too.
Comments about Marshall 1960AV or 1960BV 280W 4x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:
This is my first 4x12 speaker cabinet ever, and I just have it hooked up to some little Peavy combo amp and a bunch of pedals, (Boss ME50,Big Muff, TS808 tube screamer, and a MXR 10-Band EQ.) Well, the first thing I played through it was Paronoid, by Sabbath and I had it Kranked up LOUD! It sounded so much like them, I tought if I Had An SG instead of an RG in my hands, then people would mistake me for Toni Iommi. Anyways everything I played through it sounded Amazing but I can't really compare it to anything but the MG series Cab, which seems alot smaller than this one, and obviously The 1960AV Annihilates it. I'm Planning on saving up for the new JVM410 Head to go along with it, and by that time, I'll be ready to start playing at ozzfest.
