The Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker Combo Amp is just like the one used by Eric Clapton during his stint with Mayall's Bluesbreakers and famously on the Beano sessions. With 30W output and 2x12 speakers, it produces a gutsy bass and vibrant top, coupled with an overall natural warmth. The valve rectification output stage, pioneered by Marshall in the early 1960s, is responsible for helping achieve the famed compression and sustain exhibited uniquely by both the JTM45 and 1962. Though somewhat tonally similar to a JTM45, the 1962 combo is loaded with 2 Celestion Greenback 25W speakers and also comes with a footswitchable tremolo effect.

I have been playing this gorgeous machine for several years now. I've made a couple of records with it and its has seen tons of stage time. In my opinion, the JTM-45 has the most complex and elegant tone that I have ever heard. The dynamics are stunning and the top end just shimmers. The JTM-45 has a slightly more pronounced bottom end than a Bassman, and AC30-ish highs. I've owned many wonderful all-tube amps in my career: Vox, Fender, Boogie and other Marshall amps as well. This is THE sound that I hear in my head, only somehow it is always better than I remember it...ANY guitar I plug into it sounds brilliant in its own way. I don't bother with the tremelo on it...it is its the least attractive, and fully expendable, feature. This thing never breaks down, completely reliable.Be that as it may, I feel that all of you folks who sing the praises of Line6 repros should stick to the fakes and leave the real amps to players who care about their own voice.

Make no mistake. I love this amp! Tone is in my humble opinion better, thicker and crisper than any Fender or Vox.The flip side is its weight. It is the heaviest combo I have ever seen. I decided not to take it to gigs because playing live should be a pleasant experience and unless you've got a roadie for me it isn't.

This is all the amp you need for all genres. It gets 4 stars because the way this thing is shipped to you, is on the verge of disgusting. Skimpy box, no padding, and she came with a gouge in the tolex and a dent in the wood. But, at least this amp is definitely built like a tank, so I didn't go through the hassle of returning it. It is true that GIBSONS sound the best through these amps. I have an American Deluxe Strat that sounds great, but my SG sounds the best. worth the price, too. Just buy it!

    This is one of the best clean sounding Marshalls available. And when you start to crank it, you get that on the edge sweet spot, gritty classic Marshall tone. To get heavy distortion, you will need to use a pedal, which I should mention that pedals works great for this amp. Tremolo sounds good but I won't be using this that much. The 2 Celestion Greenbacks add to the great tone.

    This amp is very nice. It's a very good canvas for really versatile guitar tones. I use this amp for Reggae, Blues, Alternative, and jazz. It's not really, at all, capable of just one tone. I use it with a few pedals an I can acheive a wide variety of tones.

    I can't stress enough how versatile this amplifier is. I was lucky enough to find one used for super cheap and I still get chills just looking at it while the tubes warm up. From squeaky clean to down and dirty and everything in between, this is by far the greatest sounding amp I've played through and had the pleasure to own so far. It might take awhile to tweak some knobs and find the sound you're looking for, but once you do it's all over. Get your favorite reverb pedal (I love my Holy Grail) and overdrive (loves me some TS9) and you're set man. I LOVE THIS AMP!

    I bought this amp a few months ago and have not had any problems whatsoever. I play a custom tele with bare knuckle pickups that I built, and it is the most genuine, clean, pure tone that I have ever encompassed myself with. I'm playing through a true bypass AB-Y box to switch from this to my orange ad140 for distorion, and it DOES keep up. As far as whoever thinks line6 creates a better amp than marshall, I would have to completely disagree. the tone, quality, and sheer beauty of this amp completely out-does ANYTHING that line 6 has created. If youre thinking about buying this amp, you really should, and you will be happy you did. I recommend obtaining a road case if you plan to play out with it.

    Well, it is true about this amp being truthfull to how well you play. But lets be honest, you cannot beat the tone of this amp at all. If you turn it on for about 30 mins on stanby and then go play on it, the really hot tubes will sound amazing. I do not own it, but ive played one before. I have an Orange AD140 with greenback cab, and this bluesbreaker will keep up. I agree with the guy about Line 6, its good with covering up crappy playing, but, when it comes time to record tracks and get a full sound, the bluesbreaker will bring it and the recording will not sound like crap.

    If you can play, this is your amp

    I've played this amp for the last 14 years. It's all about tone. IMO, there is nothing better. I use a pedal to push the front a little for overdriven sounds (because it's often not possible to crank it up. The cleans are Fendery but with Marshall attitude. The truth about this amp is, if you suck, your tone will suck. It will not forgive you (like a modeling and/or cascading preamp type amp will). You will have to work for the tone, and work hard. But the reward is worth it. And when you get better, it gets better. This amp will interact, to a large extent, with the room acoustics, your pedals (if any), your guitar,pickups, string gauges, and cables. You will hear any changes you make to those components.I should add, there are websites advising about $300-400 in modifications to 'bring it up to spec'. I haven't done one. Except for tube changes, it's completely stock. And except for a rectifier tube failure once, I've never had a problem.

    I play this amp live and in the studio. In both situations it performs and out performs any amp i have ever played through. Marshall is the industry standard and they are for a reason. This amp is solid at nearly 100lbs i don't think anything is going to happen to it. As for "FLEXTONE" by line6, PLEASE, Line six is good for one think... putting their name on other peoples sound. I would gig without a back up with this amp any day of the week. I play this with a 2006 Fender Telecaster HS American and a Fender 89' Strat with lace sensors and the difference in tone is unbelievable. this amp picks up tone changes beautifully. I also drive a ProCo Rat, TS808, and MXR Micro Amp through this and it holds that marshall crunch so nicely. Any one that slams this amp is Ignorant. especially people that would play a line 6 over a top of the line marshall.
