Comments about Marshall 2061X Handwired 20W Amp Head:

I love this amp. I bought it used, and for the life of me, I don't understand why anybody would sell it. The thing is, though, is that I have a mint '65 Fender Bassman that I love, too. I find myself switching between the two...anyway, I use the 2061x with 2 10" Jensen MOD70s, or with 4 10" Weber Signatures. Both rigs are bluesy and full. For bigger rooms, I add a Mesa Boogie V-Twin for a tad more oomph & I use the bass channel). The 2061x is an amp for life..you may need to mic it with a 57 every now and then, but you're going to do that anyway.

    Best Amp I ever owned

    By Gabriel Hendrix

    from Switzerland

Comments about Marshall 2061X Handwired 20W Amp Head:

Great amp, I do not regret buying it.
As a recording artist I wanted something that generates the great tube sound at a managable volume.
I use it with a self-made solid wood 2x10 Cabinet that was designed to fit this amp.
Its versatility is extraordinary with almost any guitar. I mostly play an Ibanez JS Signature or a Gibson Nighthawk over it but even acoustics or resonators sound good. This amp brings out the character of the instrument very well. It takes any guitar effect very well.
Crispy Clean with harmonics resounding for half a minute, Great push in the bass frequencies when you play 70's rock riffs, wonderful churchbell like controlled feedbacks, and almost limitless sustain if requested. This Amp is gonna stay with me for the rest of my life!
I think I'd have to play for at least ten years with this amp to find out any flaw... It is a well tempered beast. Very reliable.
Its value outweighs the cost. Sure, it was expensive but you'll forget that once you strum the first chord.

    this is the one

Comments about Marshall 2061X Handwired 20W Amp Head:

Ok,this amp is expensive,..i got mine at cost as it sat on the floor of the store because 'nobody wants an amp with 4 knobs these days'! lucky for me,as this amp's tone is so great.i've owned many, many amps, the simplicity of this amp wonderful.no tweaking, searching, just plug in and it sounds great.add a distortion pedal for extra boost on solos and you're there.it also takes all pedals well.it's IS a loud 20 watts.here's a great tip to get it manageable for clubs:use a 1-12 cab vintage 30 8 ohm,run the head at 4ohms (safe to do) and its perfect.i own the matching cab too,but this thing loves an open back 12 cab.it's all here, clear notes within the distortion, complex tone, just amazing soulfulness, clean, dirty, all the sounds you need using your gtr.vol control and a pedal or two...lose your 40 knob, 10 channel buzz box and find out why Jimi,Duane, etc. sounded the way they did.

    2061x with 1960ahw cab

    By Dennis-bQJIm

    from Las Vegas

Comments about Marshall 2061X Handwired 20W Amp Head:

Just played with my new Marshall and it's great. My other two Marshalls are a avt150h head on a 1960bv cab and a vs102r 2x12 combo stacked on the avt4x12 cab. The new halfstack sounds a lot better.I have always read that the all tube Marshalls sound better, now I know they really do.I play at home in a small room and can never see me cranking this amp up to full volume unless I was standing outside the room with the door closed.I don't play well but this setup does make me sound better. The 2061x head has no problem powering the 120 watt 4x12 cabinet. The sound is full and loud with the volume only turned up to 4.I now also have the pride of ownership that goes with having such a nice Marshall halfstack.I'm very glad I bought it.

    20 watts of pure heaven

    By twobit

    from Denmark

Comments about Marshall 2061X Handwired 20W Amp Head:

Only one thing to say. You WILL not find a better soudning distiortion in any amp you can buy new than in marshalls hand wired series. The 20 watts is the PERFECT power output, as you get all the volume you'll ever need ( it is loud, really loud for the rating. It is a actuall a bit louder than fenders 40 watts blues deluxe, albeit with less clean headroom naturally) This not to say it doesnt have good headroom though. especially the bass channel stay clean for very long. Where the amp really bloew everything else, is the lead channel at 10, and coupled with a les paul. This is THE sound. String seperation is FANTASTIC. ever note rings out with such clarity, even with loads of overdrive, the most complex chords are clear and not mudded. Pure vintage rock tone at loud, though acceptable volume for anything from smaller gigs to medium-large clubs. If your into anything other than playing in stadiums, get this amp now. Not enough good can be said about it to do it justice. Pure quality, american and european components all the way, wired by experts in England. If tone is what you want, get it now. you'll never regret it.

The Best Sounding Amp I Owned...

    By MDBLUESBAND

    from Milton, FL

Comments about Marshall 2061X Handwired 20W Amp Head:

I've played now for 36 years... lots of guitars, and tons of amps and boutique effects. I bought my 2061x with the matching cab when they first came out about 3 to 4 years ago... After keeping it stored in its original box in my closet for 3 to 4 years, I finally decided to break it out as my main amp. The simplicity of its design is what makes this amp shine. All the Marshall sound is there. With some boutique fxs... one can sound like anyone he or she chooses. I just changed the tubes with JJ Tesla tubes from Eurotubes, and the sustain is to die for. I would purchase another if this one were lost/stolen.

I"ve played for over 30 years, lots of diffrent amps, and use to always run 2 amps to get the sound I wanted, not no more, this amp is sooo rich and full sounding, and I"ve been giging with it for over a year, no problems at all. GREAT AMP.

    Great Marshall Tone!

    By dsrtmanz

    from Cave Creek, AZ

Comments about Marshall 2061X Handwired 20W Amp Head:

Old Marshall amps vary in tone, this one ensures they all sound awesome. Cracked it up to 8 for gigs wihtout blowing away a club. Add a tube screamer and a DS-1 and you have all the gain you need. From crunch to searing. The Jump channel is cool as well. The ONLY downside to this amp is no effects loop. So you will need line level effects (this would be KILLER with a loop) but then not vintage I guess.

    Amazing Vintage Crunch

    By Lendrixson119

    from Phoenix, AZ

Comments about Marshall 2061X Handwired 20W Amp Head:

This head is a mini-plexi. All the tone of its big brother....a lot less volume. Therefore....to summuraze- the perfect studio amp AND the perfect club amp. Get your ideal power tube overdrive at usuable small-medium gig volume. Worth every penny. I use it in an A/B set-up with a Vox AC-30 handwired. It is essentially my drive channel, and the AC-30 my clean. I couldn't be happier with my tone. Use a boost pedal with it to really send it into sustaining solo tones. Awesome!!
