Comments about Marshall 2551AV Silver Jubilee Angled 4x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet:
I purchased this cabinet about a year ago through MF's sister company, around the same time that I purchased the matching 2555X head. The cab ships stock with Marshall/Celestion co-branded Vintage 30s and they are OEM U.K.-made speakers. They are not your retail/boxed Made in China Celestion Vintage 30s. I visually verified this myself by taking the back panel off. If you dislike the mid range tonality of a Vintage 30, look elsewhere. But if you like it, it's here in spades. The cab is constructed of plywood and the look of the silver Tolex is quite sharp. 16 ohm and 4 ohm mono connections, and also 8 ohm stereo connections. The cab is slightly larger and weighs more than your typical 1960A / 1960B models.
My only complaint is the poor packaging from the factory. I had to return the first two I purchased due to nicks in the Tolex, which was a complete headache to deal with. Perhaps they changed things since I got mine, but it was literally, without exaggeration, Tolex-on-cardboard. No protective materials, no plastic covering, NOTHING. This was not a matter of customer returns being resold either. They were factory sealed. Just think of shipping those from the U.K. to the U.S., then from the warehouse to you. Lots of opportunity for the cab to get knocked around. The only reason the third one arrived unscathed is because the staff where I made the purchased hunted down a contact from the warehouse to explain to them what was going on with the poor (and inexcusable) Marshall packaging. Thankfully they then double-boxed the shipment and all was made right.
Play it loud and play it hard to break in those sweet, sweet speakers.
