I find this amp to be well suited for the kind of work I do, which is playing live with a six-piece band. It's loud enough (at least for the kind of music I play, classic rock, not extremely loud, but not quiet either) and this amp fills most small venues without any additional amplification needed through the mains... I use it as a stage monitor primarily, but placed behind me and directed toward the audience. Then I run an XLR cable out of the line out jack the back of the amp and feed that into the mixing console to run through the mains. The signal coming out the mains seems to sound very close to what I'm hearing on stage through the amp itself, so very little if any EQ is needed from the board. This amp seems to have a pretty good feedback resistance, too, thanks to the notch filter and the tone is crisp and clear but with a nice fat bottom end, too... The reverb is clean and lush, too, and although there is only one reverb type... it's a good one. You can always add your own pedals into the chain if you need more. The chorus is nice, too, but I hardly ever use it. I'm thinking of buying a second amp just like this one because I like to run stereo sometimes with a barrage of panning effects. But for most NORMAL situations, one of these is enough... It's a simple, reliable, easy to set up acoustic guitar amplifier and I think if that's what you're looking for, you won't be disappointed with this unit. I think this is a very good amp for the money. Not a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles, but it DOES have the bells and whistles you need.

Don't compare this amp with the classic Marshall electric guitar amps, with all that cool distortion... this is NOT THAT KIND OF AMP! It's clean. It almost seems out of character for a Marshall. But let me tell you, those Marshall guys GET it. They've been building guitar amps for a long long time. They KNOW what they're doing. I'm very pleased with my AS50-D and I'd highly recommend it. I've owned several other acoustic guitar amps (I won't name names), but this one sounds better than those ever did.
The only reason I gave it 9 stars instead of ten is because it did not come with the foot pedal to switch between the channels. Guess I'll just have to buy one of those because I do like to bounce back and forth between loud and soft settings. It would be nice to be able to switch to the louder channel when I go into a lead. On the other hand, at least the amp DOES have that feature... all you need is the switch. If I could give it 9 and a half stars, I would.
The quality is evident even at a cursory glance, This thing looks like a nice piece of furniture. It would look good in your living room. Even better on stage.
Great amp at a reasonable price. Well worth it.

The amp has a good tone overall, but does color the sound a little. This can be good or bad, although some cheaper amps create a dull "boring" sound, so I tend to prefer the sound of this amp. My only complain is that after several years of light usage, it began cutting out and making buzzing noises. Considering it's an acoustic amp and nothing crazy is being done with it, I would have expected better quality-wise from Marshall.

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I use this in a praise and worship band and it is perfect for this kind of use. The two channels are a great feature. On more than one occasion, we have had to plug the piano into channel 2. I have also plugged a microphone into channel 2 in a solo situation. Most of the time, I use the amp as a monitor on the platform, and use the DI out to the mains. A handy little feature is that the DI out is before the master. That means I can set the output to the mains, and then if I need a little more on the platform, I can turn up the master output. Most of the time I have a Takamine EF341SC in channel 1 and a Larrivee L-03-12RE in channel 2. I use a Zoom A2 processor thru the effects loop. I have no complaints. I would highly recommend this Amp for the type of music I play. The other acoustic player uses a Fender Acoustisonic amp. I would not want to trade with him.

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I tried out every acoustic amp I could find, in every local music store in my area. Most of them were like powered monitors, but the AS-50D was very warm, compared to everything else. Even more expensive amps couldn't produce this sound. I run this through my P.A. at my church and use this as a guitar amp and sing through it, so it's also my monitor and the anti-feedback works great!

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I tried several acustic amps before I bought this. I owed a california blonde but was having trouble with it so I tried fishman, fender. And several others and chose the Marshall. For the price it sounded better than my second choice the fishman mini which was not as full with vocals and guitar played at the same time. The acustic sounds natural with the marshell. I have a Seagull artist and a Breedlove oregon concert and I wanted a amp to make them sound the same as unpluged. This amp sounds great and the reverb and chours are added value and both sound good if you like effects that are subtle but risk sounding. Some reviews complained about no mid tonecontrol, but I think they do not relize how much mid tone control you have with the notch filters which notch selected frequency which gives alot of control over the mid range. I play my guitar without the amp and then bring up the volume and compare the sound and I can get a exact duplicate with the amp. I paid alot of money for great acustic guitars and this amp let's me get that sound amplified, plus I get great vocal sound also.

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I use this with my acoustic guitars in church environments. Love the DI output to the church's sound system. The DI is before the master volume so if you decide you need a little more volume on the platform, you can turn it up without affecting the mix coming from the sound system. I usually use the amp with a guitar plugged into each channel, but I have used it with a condenser mic plugged into it for speaking to a large room. I have also used it once in a pinch with a guitar plugged into one channel and a keyboard plugged into the other and the mix sent to the house sound system with the DI.

The sound is very warm and I think it colors the acoustic sound less than other amps I have used. I have used the amp by itself in small churches and plugged into the house system in larger churches. It performs very well no matter what size venue I am in. It is also very light and easy to carry.

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

The microphone channel is quite surprising...I was expecting the the guitar channel to give great sound on guitar, which it does....but if you are a discriminating vocalist that strives for great vocal reproduction, this is your baby.I have an older Acoustasonic by Fender.Though a nice amp too,Fender has some catching up to do.The out-the-back feature into a house P.A. is a huge plus. The only thing I'm going to do is put some fold-back legs on the amp so I can use it as a monitor.Just a minor complaint as I'm using a dictionary to do the same thing at the moment. To be able to set your sound at home then go to the venue and be ready to go takes so much guess work out of trying to pin down a great sound.Buy this amp.....you will not regret it!........Mark

It's apparent that the engineers at Marshall have worked closely with musicians to design this amplifier. The controls are intuitive and the emphasis is on sound quality, rather than piling on a multiplicity of features that you will never use. Well done!

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

The most important quality of an acoustic combo amp is obviously the ability to reproduce that distinctive tone of an acoustic guitar with as much clarity as possible. I was very pleasantly surprised with how clear it sounded using a nylon stringed guitar and the fact that it didn't sound distorted at all even when the volume is cranked up. I also used a microphone for a non electric flamenco guitar I have and it sounded beautiful with a full rich tone. Then I tried my steel stringed Taylor acoustic electric and once again it was crystal clear with plenty of punch. The effects worked well but I don't tend to use them on my acoustic guitars very much. I have been using a digital delay and a little compression (you don't want to overdo the compression, especially on nylon stringed guitars) and they work just fine.
The unit appears to be very solidly built and for a 50 watt amplifier it's quite compact. After playing it for a couple of weeks with different instruments I feel that I made the right choice and I highly recommend it.

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

As an acoustic singer/songwriter performer, I needed something easy to pack around with me to small gigs. I love the versatility and ease of use. It's PERFECT for my acoustic/folk sound. Sounds awesome with my mandolin, guitar, and violin plugged into it as well, when I'm asked to accompany bands, and is powerful enough for me to play along with other band members. I've had this amp now for 11 years and it's still going strong. The leather carrying strap broke a few years ago- but other than that I HIGHLY recommend.

This little amp does everything it's supposed to. Sound is good. Settings are pretty flexible. Nice to have around for impromptu jam sessions. At our New Year's Eve party, we set it up with an acoustic in channel 1 and a small mixer in channel 2. The mixer had 3 vocal mics, 2 more acoustic guitars and a mandolin in it. The jam started at 9pm and we stopped around 2:30am. The amp performed flawlessly. In fact, the one we played on was the one I gave my son for Christmas. I liked it so much that I now have my own!

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

You will not be disappointed with this acoustic amp. It drives 50 watts into two speakers with full sound and quality. I DI out to my PA with this amp and use the Marshall for a monitor. The amp is quiet, which is good.
This would get a 10 if Marshall would give you the footswitch pedal to control the chorus and reverb. After all, the other Chinese brands do.
I had the Marshall as50r, the previous version, and the chorus was"pedal like", in that it was like a pedal in front of the amp that I'd done many times. This Marshall as50D has digital chorus and reverb which are more "studio like" in that it is the way I would sound in my studio. The chorus enhances the acoustic playing, as opposed to turning on the chorus and everybody knows it.
                    Made in China
Sound is beyound the price you pay.

I bought this amp a few months ago for home use & I love it. I have had several amps over the years & have never been a big fan of most amps because they would always have some hum or static & terrible feedback if you was too close to it. I pluged my Taylor into it using the same cord I have had for 15 years & it is as quiet as a church mouse. It has a real nice reverb with a lot of adjustment also.On the back of it there is a plug in for a pedal & you can also plug in an effects unit in the back. The only minus is no headphone jack on the front panel. This unit is made for an accoustic guitar as it says.If you try to use an electric guitar with it you will be dissappointed. As I said earlier,I love it

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I have never owned an actual acoustic amp so I wasn't sure what to buy. I did a lot of research and even went to music stores and tried them out. I narrowed it down between two amps and finally decided on the AS50D. My research didn't steer me wrong. I have played through the PA system at church many times and I just thought that sounded good. This amp is just simply wonderful!! I find myself playing extra long every day just because I love the true acoustic sounds that it puts out. Both my steel string and my nylon string instruments sound awesome.

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Bought this about a year ago from MF and have been enjoying it immensely. Pretty straightforward amp and the sound is crisp and clean. Use a bit of chorus and wow! I bought this as an open box (seemed brand new to me) and have been mightily impressed with the quality sound coming from it.

Highly recommended. And it's nice to have a Marshall to go with my Fender Tweeds. LOL!

Took me few days to get used to proper adjustments to my style playing but amp is really top quality with good sound. especially chorus and reverb that can be fine tuned to player's style.

I recently obtained a nice Gibson Acoustic and did some research while looking for an amp. The reviews were really positive, so I took a chance on this amp and I am glad I did. It sounds great! It even sounds great when I plug in my Fender Strat into it. Very happy with this amp.

It looks good & was light in weight, but for sound very poor quality.Been playing over 60 years and played through a lot of different amps. I shipped this one back & exchanged it for a Behringer ACH 1800 this one I'm happy with.

This is a killer piece of gear! I play a Taylor 414ce and this amp delivers an excellent, extremely warm sound. I tried many others, including the loud box mini....this Marshall beat them all hands down. You can't go wrong with this amp!

This is a great amp for practice and small venue gigs. I use it through the PA system at our church. I like being able to control the volume output from the amp without disturbing the volume of the PA..It is also small enough and lightweight enough to be very portable.
