Comments about Marshall Class5 5W 1x10 Tube Guitar Stack:

In order to get a Marshall sound, I have been running through a Carl Martin Plexitone pedal into my Fender Twin Reverb. It is actually pretty close. l also have a modeling amp (Peavey Vyper), but as much fun and versatile as that can be, I am never really happy with the solid state/digital sound. After reading a few reviews, I decided to give this a shot, especially at this price point. I am very happy just plugging straight into the amp, and I can get a lot of those classic Marshall tones, from 60's crunch to some pretty heavy distortion. I realize I am downsizing to a 5 watt amp, but the volume gets to a point around 12 o'clock and then only adjusts the gain. To be honest I do not really need the extra volume, but if it went to 11 it would be right on point and earn a fifth star. I consider it well bought and a keeper.

Comments about Marshall Class5 5W 1x10 Tube Guitar Stack:

I have had about a week with this baby Marshall stack so far. I've owned a 62' bluesbreaker, and can concur with others that the tones from this amp are reminiscent of the JTM flavor. Like others have said, this amp can sound a little on the dark side (more so with single coil pickups), but that is exactly how a JTM 45 will perform, and in my opinion how it should be.

At 5 watts, it is far too loud to use in an apartment with neighbors, but 1 watt can be achieved by switching the head to headphone mode, and plugging the speaker cable in half-way to the headphone jack. This produces the perfect bedroom volume.

    Key points:
-tubes start break up around 3 1/2.
-AC/DC (signature Marshall cream) tones start to show up around 6 1/2.
-Very dynamic, can get cleans by playing soft all the way up to 5 on the volume dial.
-Loud enough for smaller bar gigs, if there is no need for clean headroom.
-Stock tubes are: JJ el84, JJ 12ax7, electro harmonix 12ax7.

Comments about Marshall Class5 5W 1x10 Tube Guitar Stack:

This amp gives the early Jeff Beck "Truth" tones and add a wah it nails Hendrix
Voo-Doo Child. Build quality is first rate being made in England. The only thing missing is some NOS English tubes.
