    Marshall

Updated aesthetics and true all-tube Marshall tone.

The DSL100MLB head from Marshall dishes up all the gain you'll ever need. This version of the Marshall DSL100 has black piping and a smooth levant vinyl surface with the look and feel of a smooth, large-grained leather. The amp head features Classic Gain and Ultra Gain channels, both with 2 modes that can take you from warm, clean tube tones to the souped-up threshold of sonic danger. A Deep switch adds a resonant bass boost for a meatier bottom end and a Tone Shift scoops out the mid frequencies making it ideal for heavy-metal tones. Reverb controls for each channel let you adjust the 'verb where you need it. Rear panel features include the usual speaker outputs, effects loop, and 2 footswitch jacks for changing channels and switching reverb in and out (footswitch included). The DSL100MLB amp head delivers 100W of power and includes 4 ECC83 preamp tubes and 4 EL34 power amp tubes.

Marshall hits a home run with DSL100

Comments about Marshall DSL100MLB 100W Tube Guitar Amplifier Head:

I have owned this amp for over ten years. It is a beast. Tough as nails, solid as a rock and has wonderful tone as long as you know how to crank it up (ultra channel) and set the tone knobs to tone down the treble and mids a bit. Hook it up to a Les Paul Classic or LP Standard or an SG with 498T pickups and you have your standard Jimmy Page/Eric Clapton of the 60s tone. Try and beat that! Yeah, you have to deal with finicky El34 tubes, change them once a year or so, and put new caps in every 8 years but who cares. This is as good as it gets for rock amplification.

After playing many hours since my last review. I still do not have any complaints. I will say if you do not have a tech friend or the time and money to fix the treble capacitor. Do not spend the time. Simply turn the treble OFF and use your mids and bass only. If you are not happy with this trick then you can not be satisfied and will never be a purist. So to get rid of that nasty treble fizz no one likes with the new amps. Just turn it off and enjoy your Marshall.

    Hot Classic Tone!

Comments about Marshall DSL100MLB 100W Tube Guitar Amplifier Head:

I took back the MA today due to the wrong foot switch and saw this. I grabbed it of course. This is more tighter than the MA head. With this I can almost have the best of Marshall. I also replaced the tubes with GT's and bias at 80 millivolts for warmth. I have never played on the old heads but my ears tell me this is very near to the real deal with other options. It's like 4 amps in one that will suit my needs. Such a shame tubes are not made like the older days. I have read GT is the best choice compared to the old tubes so that is why I play those. I could be wrong but they work for me. The MA is not as noisy but the punch is here with the DSL. Next I will add a hot plate for that sweet compression and be finished. A hot plate just makes things feel real and a lot better for control. So I strongly suggest not passing up on a Marshall. You just have to trick it out and not play with cheap fussy guitars. A Studio Paul is not even close to the Standard or better. Sorry but don't be a wuz and complain about the weight. That is just lazy to me. The Les Paul weight tone and Marshall is what you want. So retube and try it out. I am satisfied and you should try what has been known for years. If you really want it....you will get it.
