Definitely well made, robust, and well put together.  But, I found that I had a love-hate relationship with the distortion sound it makes.  It's distortion sounds too... smooth.  Goes to noise, without grit or "ribbing".  It tries to be able to do everything, and hence... I replaced with a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver and an XO Metal Muff.  I wouldn't buy it again, but that may just be a matter of personal taste.

This pedal is well worth the price of admission.  The closest my Fender Tube amp ever came to Marshall crunch, is with this pedal.  There is a silly amount of low end to this pedal, probably more than a single twelve inch speaker can reproduce.  But it is abvious that Marshall did their homework, and delivered a quality pedal at a reasonable price.  I'll guarantee that there are pedals out there that cost more, and sound much worse.

I've had this Marshall Gov'nor pedal for about a year & a half. I used it on a pedal board with a Strat thru an early 90's vintage Blues De Ville hybrid tube amp. Not much of a tone range. The controls are not very responsive. Suggested settings that came with the instruction book were not much use. By itself the sound it produces is rather uninteresting & flat. When combined with a DS-1, though, I could get a really nice fat sound that was useful for a lot of things. But, last week it died. I don't plan to get another one.

I use this pedal in front of a 70's Marshall MK2 Super Lead for extra push. Marshall put a useless amount of low end in this pedal. I have the "deep control" turned off and the bass set at about7-8 o'clock. Mid is set at 10 o'clock, treble at 11 o'clock, gain at 1 o'clock,. I get a nice creamy overdrive with my American Fender Fat Strat.

I've had this pedal for two years and it's been in and out of my chain constantly throughout this time. I bought it when I was still learning about effects, and at the time adding a "Marshall drive sound" to my Pro Junior and still have pocket money left over seemed a great idea. Unfortunately, as I got further on I realised I don't like to use heavy distortion. While it does sound AMAZING in this area, turning the gain down renders it unbelievably mushy, and it doesn't seem to offer much in the way of dynamic response. I much prefer subtle overdrive or all-out fuzz ala Big Muff, so this doesn't fit too well. Because of it's inability to do "subtle", it only really gets use when I decide to play 'Orion'. One thing I have found out though, is that thanks to it's "deep" setting, it works surprisingly well with basses. It's a great pedal, just not for me.
